Blackberry didn't know where she was. She didn't know how long it had been. She didn't know what she was doing, or what she was going to do. All she could see was the blood, the cougar's blood, the red, the red in her vision. The flying wings and slashing beak and the claws coming down and his teeth ripping at her throat. And her final victory. There was blood, blood everywhere, the warm, hot, life water.
With a loud honk, she stopped flapping her wings and allowed her body to crash into the ground. She had been flying low, so the impact wasn't hard. But she barely felt it anyways. Her eyes were still blurred. She could only see the past. The blood. The screaming. She wanted it. She wanted more. More!
It took her a moment to realize where she was. The ground beneath her body felt a lot less like rock and more like...yes! Those were bones! She was back in Canis. She had visited once before, just after yet another decisive fight, but she had never recognized the beauty until now. The bones of enemies and friends, countless creatures lying across the cave floor, scattered, forgotten, lost. She opened her wings and pulled the bones close. Yes, this was her place. If the bones only had a little more blood on them, fresh, hot blood, then this would be like heaven. Or hell. Whatever.
She tried to remember what had happened these past days. She had been flying, flying a lot. Had Moose been following her? She didn't know. She wondered how her wounds had healed. They didn't hurt, so they were at least not infected. The bite from the snake seemed so long a time ago. Of course it was. Her shoulder didn't hurt at all. Maybe she didn't need a stupid moose following her if her wounds healed on their own. If the dumb deer had followed her here, that was fine, she didn't care. Alone, with others, it didn't matter. She just wanted more blood.

Hear my honk.
Why are you listening to my thoughts? Get out of my head!
