ORIGIN

so, it's no secret that my next RCS is gonna be Squick, a stomach parasite; however, I would like to do an interest check first; there's little point in me making this character if no-one would like to play host to it.
Edit: As an adult Squick will be around an inch long!


I want to make it very clear that anything graphic or gross will be either rated as M or play out offscreen. Squick will be capable of entering a character through their mouth as they sleep and so there doesn't need to be a struggle.

Personality-wise, Squick will be quite chipper and eager to please, but it will have a competitive streak and will be determined to find the ultimate host. It will be unable to speak in the first cycle or so of its life, but over time will learn mind reader and telepathy which will allow it to communicate directly with hosts. Without a host it will be unable to nourish or warm itself and will rely on other characters heavily.

It will have prokaryotic magic, and will in the future learn a variety of support spells from various elements. It will be able to impart major health benefits on its host using fauna cleanse to prevent infection and to keep them healthy, in addition to communicating using telepathy and, later on down the line, mind reader. There's a possibility that it will also be capable of sensorial linking to its hosts, and will emotionally bond to them over time. It may even be able to aid in battle from time to time depending on the spells they learn.

If the host character falls inactive or otherwise wishes to be rid of Squick, it will be capable of forcibly ejecting itself using nauseate, which can be done offscreen.

I would bring othello back for this!! hell, othello'd probably let them on in lmao

I don't mind him infesting any of mine, except Archimedes b/c he's probably too small to survive it... They'd all react differently and any could be interesting. I also can't say how long any of them would last, but I take it IC as it comes!

I think anyone but Amazon, Reseda, and Blackberry would be fair game? Personally I think it would be fun if it was inside Lethe, but definitely yeah, most of my characters are open!

Pride could also be a good starting point as they'd be able to talk to each other from the get go since Pride has mind reader already. Anyone else probably wouldn't know it was there; though it's def something to consider if anyone has any arcane characters that might be fine with it!

Also I forgot to note but it may pop into private threads occasionally to listen in/comment to its host. HOWEVER if you're adamant about it not doing this in certain threads it could always be sleeping!

@othello here is his account! he's not active right now because i didn't plan on bringing him back just yet only because i didn't know what to do with him. this would be a perfect thing to do! He also has telepathy, so he could maybe even read their little mind too. id also be very down for him just popping into threads, hell he's inside of him lmao itd be weird if they didnt lol @envy

As for my idea with Lethe, I think it would be kind of funny bc Lethe would constantly be forgetting that Squick is there and freaking out when all of a sudden there's this thing talking in her head. Although she'll probably start remembering at some point. I could see them having a pretty humorous relationship because Lethe wants literally nothing to do with anyone else and Squick just wants to make her happy (?). Idk, she doesn't have to be its first host but I think it would be a fun relationship.

As a sidenote it could be funny if potential hosts are wondering if they've gone batshit insane, since there's a voice speaking in their minds and they absolutely cannot prove it's a parasite and not their own heads lol >.>

@asimona that could be interesting! Though it’s also possible that if were the case it’d try to remind her with stomachaches and just be a general pain to remind her that it’s there. It could definitely be pretty humorous and it could end up lightheartedly teasing her over the grumpiness a lot rofl

As for Asimona, I actually have no idea how she'd react. It'd be one of those things where the characters would write themselves, you know?
