Madhukar twitched at the acceptance of her egregious excuse for an apology. 'How could they accept THAT? ...What have I done?' And it was as if the universe planned to show her exactly what she'd done. Well, perhaps not exactly. More like... a fourth of what she'd managed to do.

It wasn't as bad as failing her lightning spell would've been, it wasn't chrysalis-worthy. But it hurt. Madhukar yelped as the agony began to to spread, a twisting knife in her back. But she didn't complain. No, again, she could get a lot worse than this. Scars began to cover her left flank -- other spots too, but the left flank especially -- fur and flesh being torn and tattered, transfigured into something new, something more fitting. It was a much lighter scar than anything Comet or Aran had, but it was just as jagged.

Madhukar gritted her teeth, tears welling up in her eyes at the onslaught. But this was only a fourth of near death. She wasn't complaining.

When it was finally over, Madhukar was trembling. Most of the pain was emotional, using the physical as a background, an accent to the tumult in her brain. The deer said they'd be in-- oh no. Hopefully... hopefully they would just... not learn that she lived there too... but Madhukar discarded the hope as soon as it was given. She couldn't expect that. Couldn't imagine it, actually. She was too loud, too brash to remain hidden. She would just have to accept the consequences, and focus all her energy into pushing herself through them, just like she was doing now.

She stumbled towards the exit without another word.
