Chaos-Two blinked and nodded slowly, wondering why that was so amazing. They were the same age, it wasn't a big deal.

"I'm here to asses the cave. I'm noting sources of food, like prey and herbivorous options, as well as a water source. All three of which I've found in abundance, so now I've moved on to observe what species of animal there is, the fruit that grows on the trees and bushes, et cetera," they said.

They lowered themselves to all fours, a bit more awkward looking as they were, but it lightened the load on their hind, which was malformed, two protrusions poking and stretching their skin above them. It looked painful.

Comet found that Chaos's words were, well, complicated? Not exactly that, she understood what they were saying and all, but it was like they said things in a way that was more... advanced, sort of. Like 'herbivorous options' and 'abundance'. More tongue twisting than was needed really, but everyone talked differently.

They shifted their weight to all four legs, and with that, their height lowered too. But even so, they were still taller than Comet, even if only by a little. She noticed that on their hind, there were two weird things sticking out, and it looked like sharp things under the skin, painful. No wonder they had decided to switch to all fours. "That sounds good! How about we go looking for animals and things together?" offered the pup. Different goals sure, but they wanted the same things.

Chaos-Two worked their jaw, looking back towards Draco before they turned to Comet, their ears perked forward.

"I... could eat," they said slowly, "I will admit I'm not the best hunter, but I can pull my weight."

They seemed defensive over the fact, ears drooping for a moment before they walked forward, hooves barely getting off the ground, "There are deer trails all over. If we follow one, we're sure to find something."

They kept their nose to the ground, moving around slowly so as to not bump into anything.

Comet nodded, "It's okay if you can't catch much." she didn't want to put any pressure on them to get anything, since this was supposed to be a friendly hunt-- or fight. Either way, with both of them combined they should be able to get double the prey. "I'm sure you'll be able to get something. This forest is plentiful with prey." and other things.

Putting her own nose to the ground, she tried to catch a scent. But even in these plentiful woods, prey was not always able to be scented. "I can't scent anything. Could you try?"

Chaos-Two raised a brow, "I never said I wouldn't catch much."

They huffed and walked forward again, nose to the ground. It was unlikely they'd be able to scent more than a wolf could, them being of grazing origin (though whatever Vargas was certainly threw some things into the mix, like thumbs), but they would certainly try.

The wind blew by, any scent that they could have caught now being carried off. Lovely.

"Nothing," they said with a sigh, "Let's try somewhere else."

They walked forward again, head low and ears down, half-lidded and unfocused. They didn't need them anyway.

Comet hadn't meant to offend them, and made a mental note of what she had said. Just another thing to learn. At least her manners were already starting to improve. "Sorry." she whispered under her breath.

She had hoped that they would be able to scent something, but they had no luck either. Guess this area was empty. "Okay, let's go somewhere else." she followed them forward some ways, before she lowered her nose to the ground once again. "Nothing." It seemed they were incredibly unlucky today.

"No harm done," they sighed, and touched their nose to Comet to judge where she was before making off in a different direction.

"Something will show up," they said, "We just need to be diligent. The wildlife here is abundant, I'm certain we will find something."

Nose to the ground again, they searched around idly, eyes narrowed. A rustle in the bushes.

"There-", they said, voice barely a whisper.

It was the scent of feathers. A musty odor, but the promise of meat lay beyond it.

Ahead, over a rise and flitting in and out of the long and waving grass, was a flock of Carollers, and should the pair pay attention the songs, too, would give them away: melodic, happy chirping, interwoven into a coherent single song. The birds were flying up and down from trees to meadow, picking out grass seeds from the field and carrying them up to the trees, where each perched on its single leg and leaned their new prizes against a tree branch to pick apart and eat.

A cautious approach might net the pair a meal, if they didn't mind killing the softly-calling Carollers to get it.

It was in this part of the forest that they had more luck, and Chaos found, or heard, something. Comet lifted her nose in the direction of the sound, and caught the musty scent. "Come on." Leading the way over a small rise, she found that they were at the border where the meadow met the forest, and the sounds of birds were prevalent. She hadn't heard this kind of birdsong before, and she found that the sound belonged to some weird blue birds that had only one leg! Weird. But then again, what wasn't?

Although they were carrying seeds from the meadow and eating them in the tree, it was the birds themselves that looked tempting. But how could they get them if they were in a tree? That meant they would have to try and get the ones in the meadow. At least she would, Comet didn't know if her hunting partner could climb. "Are you able to climb and get the ones in the tree?" They would probably only have one shot at trying to catch one.

Chaos-Two couldn't really see them, but he could hear, "... That won't work, I can't climb well enough to be able to catch them should they fly away."

They looked at Comet and narrowed their eyes, "... You circle around, and I'll see if I can carefully herd them towards you. I'll wait here, give me a signal- like a bird call or something- that will alert me when you're in place."

They lay down and shuffled forward behind a bush, ears perked up like satellite dishes, picking up anything they could.
