Comet scrunched up her nose in concentration, trying to think of a plan. Luckily she didn't have to, since Chaos already though of one. "Okay." She already saw the flaw in the plan, which was she had no idea how to make bird noises. But she could try.

Circling around to the other side, she positioned herself in the grass, barely visible except for the tips of her ears. Now the hard part: somehow making a bird noise. It started as a whine, but she shaped into into a sort of deranged bird noise. Hopefully Chaos would understand that it was the signal they were waiting for.

Chaos-Two lifted their head as Comet made the call, wincing at the noise. But they trotted out from the bush anyway, not trying to make the birds fly away, simply trying to get them to move closer to Comet.

Hopefully Comet could handle catching one by herself.

They narrowed their eyes and shook their head in a sort of shooing motion, trying to get them to head towards Comet.

@Comet
Carollers were not flightless birds; the moment Chaos-Two emerged, they erupted in a burst of feathers to the trees. They landed high, a few still visible perched on their single legs, staring down with sharp jerks and tilts of their heads.

Their song was briefly broken, and now rose again in higher-pitched, alarmed notes--but the music was still beautiful.

@Comet
Turned out there was more than one flaw to the plan. Instead of running towards her like any prey that was bound to the land, they just flew into the trees. How could she have been so stupid so as to not see this coming? "That didn't turn out as expected." Comet shook her fur, "Maybe I can try hitting one?" This was a last ditch attempt at trying to get one of the birds, since it would not do for all their effort to go to waste. Gathering the magic in her chest, she expelled the water in a jet, hoping to hit one of the birds.

Chaos-Two stopped as they flew into the trees, frowning. Stupid birds and their stupid wings. Logically they should have known something like that would have happened, but they'd assumed a species like a turkey or a quail, where they had wings but preferred to walk around rather than fly.

"Hitting one could work," they said, disappointed that they themselves had no offensive spells like Comet did.

"Getting them wet might stop them from flying away," they said, hearing the water appear- from where?

@Comet
A single bird was struck--water pluming over it, striking it from the branches. Wings flapped frantically as it fell, tumbling down through the tree before landing lightly in the dirt below.

The two had a brief window to take it down before it could fly away, again--it was already scrambling to its single foot, crying out in fear, the rest of the flock erupting into flight through the canopy and away.

The beautiful song of the flock came to an abrupt, discordant end.

@Comet
Her aim was true, and the water hit the bird right out of the branches. Unfortunately, that caused the rest of the birds to fly away, meaning this was their last shot at trying to catch one. Comet wondered if a bird could even fly with wet feathers. Maybe, maybe not. She wasn't too experienced with the workings of birds. The pup made a mental note in her mind to ask James about that.

The bird somehow was trying to stand up again using its single foot, a rather ridiculous sight. Well she couldn't let it escape. She rushed forward in an attempt to jump on the bird and hold it still.

Chaos-Two loped forward, ears down, brows furrowed. They stopped before Comet and huffed.

"Good work," they said, facing the direction of the other birds.

They walked forward and stared at the bird, wondering what the best way to kill it would be. Sharp teeth and tusks dug into the bird's throat, tearing it out.

Chaos-Two pulled away and stared down at the bird, ears perked up.

"... The feathers, what color are they?", they asked softly, wondering...

An idea formed, small, just an inkling of a thing... but...

@Comet
"Thanks." she nodded, and watched them tear out the bird's throat. It was a bit unnecessary, a single nip would've done it, but they couldn't risk this bird flying away after all they did. Their next question only confirmed her suspicions that they were partially blind, but that didn't effect anything really. They were still really good at hunting it seemed. "Varying shades of blue with some white. Why?" Were they planning to do something that depended on the color of the feathers?

Gently, ever so tenderly, he started to pull out the bird's feathers. He padded around afterwards, searching, searching, feeling around for something... straight.

Their hand knocked against a branch and they picked it up, feeling it. It didn't crack when they tried to break it over their knee, and it had a bulbous tip and a straight handle. It was perfect.

"Can you find me some vine?", they asked softly, picking up a rock, "Perhaps a staff is in order to help me walk."

The staff they were making would certainly do, even perhaps as a weapon, should they be able to harness such a thing for practical fighting application.
