for the murders of those i court
i bless the hour that holds your fall, i will kill you all
pitch, it surrounded everything. silence, whirs of rushing winds, though subtle as ever. the crack, gruesome noises continued to grow, echoing all around, until body was met with liquid, until mind was set free. then, the pitch was no longer, the shroud dissipating as the light encroached. but innately, as diaphragm heaved - sputtering, coughing, hacking, wheezing. whatever i just breathed in was something that was not supposed to be breathed in. my lungs were drowning and i scrambled to my paws, where i looked downward. slender muzzle could be seen extending from my face, and i wondered what i was - where i was - what was even happening. i stuck the muzzle into the liquid again, sucked, just to confirm it wasn't breathable - whatever the substance was. salmon tongue smoothed over my chops instinctively, before i was then able to notice the face of me. i peered down at my reflection, eyes of pale lavender matched something rather extraordinary which began at the bridge of my nose, and spread upward. for long moments, i simply stared at me. the water surrounding me lipped at my ankles, though i dared not go deeper. what if it consumed more of me? swallowed me whole? in my stationary posture, something then began to feel at my paws. it scared me, so i jumped from the water and onto a base which wasn't covered in the liquid. but as i looked across the landscape, i noticed it was riddled with these...things. they all had glossy surfaces, so to inspect, i aimed to advance toward the nearest one. but how do i get over there? i moved my legs, and my face slammed into the hard flooring. i scrambled to my feet again, then reattempted the trek. it was in quick succession did i learn that i could practically rocket to the other glassy thing. however, my brakes weren't that great. i tried to stop, but instead i just fell in entirely. and it did consume me, swallowed me whole, and i struggled to return to the rocky base. the entire situation had me panicking, and when i was able to break the water's surface i sucked in the air - the thing you're supposed to breath and it won't try to kill you. scrambling to the edge, i crawled out of the water, laying on my stomach as my breathing was rather labored, wheezy. where was i, and how can i go back to the pitch.
