Appearance

Iridescent- or, simply Iris- is a massive beast, measuring at twenty-one feet and eight inches from nose to tail-tip and weighing nearly five and a half US tons. All this weight nearly confines her to the water- she's slow and sluggish on land, having to heave herself wherever she goes. It doesn't help that her scales dry out fast, to the point that she quickly dehydrates if she doesn't get the water she needs. Airdrink is barely enough to sustain her- when using it in a drier cave, she's liable to draw nearly all the water out of the air in one spell cast.

Thankfully, she's not entirely too tall, with her shoulder standing at a meager seven foot one compared to her enormous length. She can, feasibly, fit through the caves just fine- if there's enough water throughout them all. However, due to her need to be moisturized, and a relative unawareness of certain magics, she's been confined to Fornax with its too-small watery passageways and no one to visit.

When she has to go to land, she can push herself up on two sets of thick, oar-like feet, each with three dexterous digits that have a thick membrane between them. Her back legs are more strongly developed than her front- they're designed to kick her forward when needed rather than her drag herself across the ground. This has developed her walk into somewhat of a lizard-like gait.

Iris's cyan scales are soft and thin, easily pierced or scarred over, yet covering thick pockets of blubber. Most of her body weight- and body heat- are trapped in these, the thinnest nearly being an inch and a half already. Thicker plates scale down her undersides and across her nose, as well as the backs of her hind legs. Two-pronged antlers emerge from twin pink patches, small in comparison yet measuring at three feet in length individually. Two dorsal fins, as well, line her back- inherited from her orca father- and yet stiff to use as a thick rudder in comparison to the natural order of things. The first is tall at five feet and straight, while the other is shorter- around three and a half- and curved back.

She takes on a lot of other orca-like qualities, as well. Her long tail is tipped with a ring of black opal piercing the skin and a thick, dual-bladed fin, the latter marked with the pinks that match her saddle and stomach stripes. Like her name, though, all of her colors may shift in their cotton-candy hues in the lights, lighting up very well in the provided lighting of the caves.

Where she deviates from orcas, though, is her draconic head- she has a muzzle with sharp, carnivorous teeth, with two sets of large canines that naturally rest outside of her lips. She has no earholes or nostrils- instead, most of her breathing is from the blowhole situated behind her skull, which ties to lungs that can keep her from needing breath for upwards of twenty minutes. This can let her get to deeper, untouched waters- and here, she can rely on both her excellent eyesight or her echolocation.

Personality

The sea-beast from ancient days actually proves to be quite friendly, despite the amount of time she's spent away in Fornax's seas. Her bubbly personality has yet to degrade, and she's cheerful to most she comes across, childish and playful as a dolphin. It's as if some kind of squirrel lived within her giant, aquatic form.

Naivety describes her to a T- she easily places trusts in beings, and gives a lot of love to those she interacts with, vocalizing with happy clicks and squeals and what-have-you's. Physicality plays a big part- the more she likes someone, the more likely she is to rub right up to them or slobber all over them with licks and kisses. All of it's a bit of play, too- she never intends to push people around, even if she accidentally does.

Fighting isn't one of her strong suits. She prefers to remain civil, to speak with a clear mind and settle things peacefully. It'll take her a lot to truly anger, and while most of that is her genuine personality, another part of that is suppression. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, and she knows she could, so it's not fair for her to be mad! Besides, everyone has all the time in the world- if someone was being problematic, or in a bad mood, maybe they could wait it out instead of actually fighting instead?

In the rare cases that her life is really in danger, she is capable of enraging and losing sense of herself, harming herself and everyone around her. These moments don't last long- she's quick to calm down once whatever threat is passed or she's liable to knock herself into her chrysalis through expending too much energy. Given her nature, though, it's extremly rare for her to get worked up enough to that point.

Besides, it's not like her life's in danger very often.
