Appearance

While developing in the chrysalis, Riffi will have gone through the nestling stages of her avian growth and hatch a fledgling. Although she still possesses some of her original soft, gray down, her the feathers on her wings and tail will be ready for flight, although some practice will be needed before she can master the art. As she grows in a juvenile, she will have all her flight feathers but lack the iconic crest of her species and will be a more gray and white in color with a hint of black and blue.

Upon her fourth cycle, Riffi will have received the feathers of an adult blue jay. Her wing and tail feathers, which are almost violet blue in appearance, are adorned with black bands that travel down its length. Her soft, white face is framed with black stripes and upon her head sits a regal crest which she raises whenever she is angry or startled.

Her small, dainty frame is rather fragile as her bones are hollow. Her light bones, while not ideal for brawling, make for a graceful flight and quick movement. However, the same cannot be said for her as a fledgling as her awkwardly round body makes her quite clumsy.

Moonstone is her gem. It is embedded in her skin and sits at the base of her tail above the uropygial gland. Although her rump feathers cover up most of the stone, a portion of it can be seen peeking out of her feathers. The moonstone appears white but shimmers a pale blue under certain lighting.

Personality

Being a delicate little thing, Riffi prefers to solve her problems with brains and magic instead of brute force. Despite her songbird frame, however, she is rather gutsy. Playful and overly confident in her abilities, Riffi is prone to testing her luck just for kicks, although she does not see it that way. Regardless of her gambling habit, she is quite intelligent, often to converting to wily and dirty underhanded methods to get what she wants but has a good sense of when to bail.

Being a blue jay, she use her voice to mimic many sounds, with bird calls being the easiest. Needless to say she takes advantage of this talent by marrying it with her Arcane magic as she attempts to deceive Gembounds. Riffi is a collector of things, and adores anything shiny. She loves shiny items so much she may try to permanently borrow it from other Gembounds whom she may or may not lured with her voice.

Impulsive, mischievious and a little selfish, Riffi may seem like she lacks a conscience but this could not be far more from the truth. She knows right from wrong, and feels guilt over some things, however, she just simply prefers to travel down a sinful path rather than a virtuous one. Although the rough around the edges blue jay hates to admit it, she actually has a soft spot for newly hatched Gembounds, although her love appears more like tough love to avoid looking like she's gone soft.
