Appearance

No longer a scrawny pup; Xireidi has begun to grow into a fairly large and strong juvenile red wolf. This drastic change is doubtlessly due to his constant physical training and great success in hunting. His blind right eye, which from birth had been replaced by a dark yet brilliantly colorful gemstone, no longer hampers his depth perception noticeably at all as he has learned tricks and skills to counteract the disadvantage.

The young red wolf still gives off an air of contentedness with the world, holding himself with confidence and rarely showing more than telltale signs of whatever may worry him. He has a lifelong habit of training himself to be stronger, and can often be seen testing the limits of his skills. His is never one to turn down a friendly sparring contest and will fight tooth and nail against even a superior foe if it means protecting someone in danger. Sadly one of his other disadvantages from emergence is a greatly decreased sense of touch, so it is not uncommon to see him covered in small injuries he hasn’t quite noticed yet and he has already developed a decent collection of scars on his legs and chest.

Despite his overall air of kindness there is one part of him that seems just… off. On close examination the black opal embedded in his right eye, his source of life and magic as it would be for any gembound, feels like it is radiating a sense of deep wrongness. It's almost like either the gem doesn’t actually belong to the individual attached to it, or possibly that everything he shows the world is nothing more than an elaborate lie. But no one can construct that convincing of a façade… right?

Personality

Xireidi absolutely loves life. The sights, the smells, the remarkable ability to get better at things as you practice them… it’s more than enough to overlook the impending doom coming to them all. From an early age, for a reason he can only guess to be his magic piercing the veil of hidden truth, he has known of the existence a terrible being of abyssal black and luminescent orange. He is still uncertain if this is a coming danger to life in the caves that can be fended off or if it is already certain that they are nothing more than fodder for this dark aberration. What he doesn’t realize, however, is that this belief is the shadow of a destroyed memory of being poisoned by a death crawler beetle upon first emerging; an event which did substantial damage to his nervous system and gave him the personality he currently possesses.

He doesn’t go around pronouncing doom to all around him though, but instead lets everyone live their lives as they see fit. He feels it is enough to train himself to the peak of his potential ability in his free time and serve as a shield to those he holds as friends should the need arise. He doesn’t try to conceal the truth that he sees, but he also tries to go out of his way to brighten the days of those he meets.

Not all of him feels this way though. Buried within this cheerful, loving, altruistic wolf there is a much darker splinter personality. This secondary personality is almost a perfect mirror of the pup himself; dour, sadistic, selfish, and quick to suggest using others as mere pawns. Xireidi believes that this personality is the cynical manifestation of his own personal magic, as it is most prominent when he invokes the powers held within his gym. In truth this is what remains of the personality he was born with, lost from his physical brain and forever trapped within a gym that was, of course, immune to neurotoxin.

For the most part Xireidi had learned to ignore the alien influence in his own head, and will only occasionally give heed to the thoughts it invokes. He believes that everyone has a similar experience, even if they don’t recognize it on a conscious level. Either he just happened to be stuck with one that acted a bit meaner than the others or everyone else is really good at suppressing the wicked pull of dark thoughts.

History

Cycle 1-
Emerged, was poisoned, recovered with no memory of the event, and went out to Polaris. Met Kin-Kin and accidentally unlocked original personality by invoking magic. Spent days trying to become physically stronger. Eventually met Gratia in Orion and began exploring the cave system.
