RE: Leaves of Blood and Fire - Delphine - Sep 05 2015 Baratheon's brief explanation on Dragon's and Rider's sifted the dying flames of envy, willing it to relight with the knowledge that such bonds existed. It was not untrue to say that she had not been looking for a connection that reached so deep that it could somehow wrap its fingers around the soul and never relinquish. She'd been searching for this through the Gembounds who'd she met through her own short life yet to none was she able to find what Baratheon had found. Through Magdalena she'd born childlike hopes but she also knew them to be folly the moment the dog became the very first to leave. Then there were the others but again, none who would give what she so desperately sought. "That's very lovely." Delphine cooed, biting back the rise and swell of jealousy with an honesty that she'd yet to impose upon others. "I imagine someday I will find someone like that too, perhaps not a Dragon but someone to share a bond with." The young filly explained more in affirmation than for confirmation. She stopped, head cantering to one side in deep thought. "Does it ever bother you though? Having someone who's so closely bound to you? Is there still privacy to be had?" Though if truth would have it, she'd been so rapt with the notion of having someone to bond with that when she came upon the realization that privacy could well be an issue, it made her ponder on what her own baseline would be. Her lips pursed and for some time more she stewed in silence. The filly's gaze flickered to the dragon, listening as he rumbled on about the black monstrosity wreaking havoc in Polaris. It seemed strange to her that they were not related but then what of the Origin caves didn't seem at least somewhat off? "I see... I suppose it is difficult to see the semblance." With a digression neither smooth or broken in transition, questions shot through the space between them. "So are you going to keep growing? Were you born as small as I was? I can't imagine it..." She stopped mid-thought. "Is there more to the story?" RE: Leaves of Blood and Fire - Baratheon - Sep 15 2015 BARATHEON "the world is mine for the taking" The dragon rumbled thoughtfully and nodded his head, "Perhaps, all can access this bond. Dragons and non-dragons alike thanks to Ae'thiya." The pure bond was one of the best things. A great strength but again, a great weakness as Phin brought up. "It doesn't bother me... Nor does it bother Booker it's like... You share each other's emotions and thoughts but you never really need privacy, y'know? It's..." It was rather hard to explain to someone who'd never experienced it. "It's like we have two bodies but one soul, almost. You don't think of privacy, you don't really need it anymore because you feel so close to the other." He shook his head as he struggled to explain it. "There are ways that you can block some emotions off but why would you want to? You... know what I mean?" She probably didn't but he tried to explain it as well as he could. Baratheon looked back at his long body, a smile cracking onto his face before he laughed. "I imagine I've still got some growing to do. Don't mind it either, helps me to be a better protector!" He lifted his chin proudly before diving back into another explanation. "When I first hatched I was very small, much smaller than even you. Maybe like... this tall." He used one claw from the ground to indicate a very minuscule height. It was hard to imagine that it was only a couple of months ago that he was so tiny. Those were good times though. He had played with his friends and had many adventures and learned more about himself in those first few weeks. "Well, the rest of the story... Ah! Luke, having bonded with Ae'thiya no longer wanted the other gems to attack her. No. He now realized that she acted the way she did because of how she was treated and having never been given a chance to befriend anyone because of how different she was. Luke attempted to convince everyone that Ae'thiya was no longer the beast they knew but instead was his friend but they wouldn't listen to him. They thought of Luke as a traitor and wrapped him up in ropes then continued on to Ae'thiya. When she saw her rider trussed up in ropes a rage grew within her and the Bloodlust overtook her. The chains that the gembounds tried to use against her were useless as she set upon them. All of them would be killed! Or... They would have if not for Luke. Though he was bound in rope he was still able to cross over from his mind to Ae'thiya's and soothe her soul and keep her from killing the misguided gems. That day no one was killed and only a few were injured thanks too the Bond between Luke and his Dragon. Because of this the gembounds were grateful and thus pardoned Ae'thiya for her former crimes, so long as Luke could help keep her under control. After that day no more gems were ever attacked by Ae'thiya, or rather, not the innocent ones. If there were ever any gems that were deemed to be a danger to society then Luke and Ae'thiya would be on the case to help keep the peace. It went on this way for years, the pair even started a whole group of Dragons and Riders to help keep the peace in the caves... but those are stories for another day..." For he could see that his tale was putting the young one to sleep. He smiled, scooted closer to her and extended one wing to drape over her while she slept. Like the giant sentinel that he was he would keep watch and he was sure no one would dare disturb her. His eyes turned to the dragon statue near them, its stony gaze watching over them. Had this been a statue of Ae'thiya? He didn't know for sure but he felt better thinking that it was. Felt better thinking that he was doing her proud with keeping the peace and doing good with his own Rider. RE: Leaves of Blood and Fire - Delphine - Sep 15 2015 Delphine did not understand the lack of need for privacy not because she thought it wrong but that she'd never created a bond so deep that there was no place for vice or secrets. She tried then to imagine Magdalena knowing of the envy that lived in her heart or if the others were to discover that she had, at one point, blamed them for her isolation. To imagine that they would forgive her was an impossibility and so it was, she settled for the dragon's explanation and prayed as she did earlier that she would be blessed enough to experience a bond so deep and untainted by the darkness born of their nature. "No way! You were even smaller than I was!" She exclaimed in disbelief. Attempting to juxtapose the Baratheon now to his newborn self was just as impossible a task, if not even more so. A part of her almost wished she'd been there to see him when he was but a baby, perhaps then they would have started off without the violence but she knew her thoughts to be silly. As it was, she was thankful for how things had come to transpire. Had anyone to witness the two of them now, they would have been baffled if they'd discovered how they'd started, in the throes of violence now changed to something different, something good. It gave Delphine the hope she so lived for, that there was a good in everything so long as they strove for it. As Baratheon spoke, the child inched forward, eager to drink in his words with perked ears and hooded eyes. Her imagination soared with the tales of the first dragon and rider. Her lips curled fondly into a small smile and before she knew it, slumber had befallen her. She would dream then of Baratheon and his Rider, Booker. They would soar the caverns imparting peace upon the world and every now and then, they would visit Delphine when they had the chance. They would exchange stories about their adventures and play for hours on end before parting ways with a promise of more to come. How lovely such a world seemed, perhaps one day it would become their reality. |
