Market Shops & Character Stalls - Origin Cave - May 30 2025
The Market is a single-lane market street that winds its way through the far end of Scorpio. Its cobbled path is lined on both sides by buildings that act as storefronts for a block or so, and then covered stalls that sometimes house pop-up shops or can be claimed by those wishing to peddle their own goods.
Business done at NPC-ran Market Storefronts can assume moderate powerplay of vendors by players but feel free to use the Request Game Master feature for further interaction. Pricing is general, and characters may roll to haggle, with some NPCs more willing than others. If your character is fairly large, is it safely assumed they may not fit within the stores but can ask for business to be done from outside.
General Goods
Vendor Name: Thaddius (He/Him)
Vendor Appearance: Bipedal, eight-foot tall muscular ox-like fellow with a zoisite gemstone that looks like a scar on his left upper arm. He has an ox-like face and horns, soft brown eyes, and stubby fingers; dark brown short fur covers his body with thicker areas of black hair on his head, armpits, chest, and groin, and the tuft of his skinny tail. His build is overall thick and bulky and he has a coarse, deep voice to match.
Vendor Personality: Friendly and boisterous, but surprisingly soft-spoken. Has the ability to shake the walls with his booming voice if he needs to... don't make him shout! He is quick to make (dad) jokes that might make one roll their eyes. Slight accent, saying "fer," "yer," and "ye" for the words "for," "your," and "you" respectively.
Willingness to Haggle: High
Wares: Miscellaneous goods such as common dyes and dye ingredients, baubles, carrying pouches or bottles, tinder boxes, small snack-like foods, thrifted finds and patched up clothes, etc.
Pricing: 4-5 coins for most items; 1 gemcoin for baubled stones.
Armor, Weapons, and Accessories
Vendor Name: Igris (She/Them)
Vendor Appearance: Bipedal, seven-foot tall winged hybrid of a condor and a fox. Covered in short russet and tawny feathers that lighten to cream on her chest and face. She has lilac eyes with glowing pale-blue rings around the pupil. She has a fox-like muzzle and fox-like ears; her hands are scaled like the talons of a condor and her feet are pawed like those of a fox. She is trailed by a sweeping foxy tail made up of longer, fluffier feathers.
Vendor Personality: Gentle and eager and LOVES to gossip. Usually has tea available for customers to enjoy... bonus if they have some to share, too! ;)
Willingness to Haggle: Moderate
Wares: Supplied by the Blacksmith. Varying weapons such as swords, daggers, and staves; armor such as tunics, shoulder pads, helmets, and gauntlets; accessories such as rings, necklaces, and pendants. All items can be further fitted, enchanted, or refined by the Blacksmith in Leo.
Pricing: 2 gemcoins for small items (accessories, daggers), 3 for larger (cuirass, helmet, shield)
Tailored Clothing
Vendor Name: Irimel (They/Them)
Vendor Appearance: Bipedal, five-foot and four-inches tall, slender alpaca-like creature with an axinite gemstone that looks like a small beauty mark below the corner of their right eye. They sport white fur which is longest and curliest on the top of their head. Their eyes are a pale yellow and their voice is lofty and light, and leans on the feminine side of androgynous. Usually wearing a silky off-white robe with a large, loose-fitting hood (seriously, why is everyone naked?) and singular steel earrings toward the bottom of each ear, which lay folded under their hood.
Vendor Personality: A little snobby with high standards, Irimel is quick to judge; while they may not directly say something, their words generally imply distaste and are laced with subtle attitude. Despite that, they are genuine and very willing to help one look their best.
Willingness to Haggle: Low
Wares: Supplied by Mimosa. Cosmetic apparel such as scarves, shirts, pants, capes, and socks. All items purchased can be further fitted or refined by Mimosa at the Palace in Cepheus.
Pricing: Simple socks and scarves 15-20 coins; larger or more fancy, 1 gemcoin.
