001. New Beginnings
tag: Polaris (Crystal River) | Complete
Quix hatches from her chrysalis by the crystal river in Polaris. She is found by Fisher who attempts to lure her away from the golems roaming around. Quix is delighted by him (or rather, his fur) and clings onto his fur to get onto him. Once comfortable on her new ride, he brings her on a hunt to catch a mouse for her, much to the little girl’s delight. Cancer then arrives and upon seeing Quix’s horns which look like his own, and her having a pelt colour not unlike a lioness’, mistakes her to be his and Makyna’s child. He adopts her. Cancer and Fisher have a little brawl, following which Fisher leaves and Quix leaves for her new home in Cancer’s pouch.

A sleeping Quix is carried in Cancer’s pouch to a gathering of gembounds playing truth or dare. She joins in and asks for a dare! Bevy brings her some sour lemon and dares her to eat the entire thing. Quix eats half the lemon and tosses the other half to Cancer a.k.a fat leopard to finish. Dark, a little blind owl, then asks for a truth and so Quix asks him about his talent. She is immensely delighted and very quickly falls back asleep in Cancer’s pouch.

Quix learns to write in this thread but doesn’t seem particularly interested in it. She’d very much like to get some action! So, she is extremely eager and excited to hunt for treasure when Usui suggests it. She befriends Usui, a lion cub, and helps him get his own satchel and arrow head. Usui had a critical failure casting dislodge though, which sent a couple of staircases crashing down on him. He dives in and protects Quix from this and she leaves after Leon appears to save Usui.

She also learns basic healing such as wrapping cuts or wounds with leaf. She also learns the uses of vine and moss use. Soon, she suggests to Bevy that spiderwebs can stem bleeding and so they go spider-hunting! She attacks the spider to distract it while Bevy wraps the web around a stick. Mission accomplished!
