Trial baby plotting thread - Owlface - Jun 20 2020
So we can get even more attached before they die, of course ;D
So, all of the adopts for the third hydra trial were raised in the same cave, so I thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread to discuss how they interacted and who knows who, and maybe to plot stuff for the future (if they survive the trial)
Also, We're making a group for these guys, probably. We're still working on the details though.
Papagoite, also known as Owlface, cares a LOT about their "siblings." They check in on their siblings pretty frequently and they can be pretty persistent if they sense something is wrong (which can sometimes worsen things- they don't know when to just leave someone be) I see their siblings as some of the only gembound they really open up around. They tend to be more talkative and playful and frankly a bit chaotic around their siblings, but they still have that 'big sibling' kind of energy.

I feel like Kini is Owlface's Lawful counterpart; big Parent energy, a little more serious and collected. Kini splits others based on "weaker than it" and "stronger than it" and everyone that's weaker gets babied by Kini and everyone that's stronger or equal in strength to Kini should be a protector of the smols. Kini wants a perfect world where all the smols are safe (bruh me too). Also Kini might be the tallest??? 2 feet 2 inches, beat that kids

Simon tries to have that Big Parent Energy™ but at the end of the day he's more of a helpless baby with a side of Neutral Good . He loves and cares for his siblings a lot, but he absolutely refuses to get physical about anything, which isn't really the best attitude to have right before going into a big ol' murder trial. He'll likely stick with the other trial babies and not really talk much to the others, but that may change if he meets someone nice :o
(I'm just rambling now lol) I had an idea that Simon's really reluctant to use his venom, even though it could be useful, because something bad happened the last time he tried it out back in the Merchant cave. Maybe he accidentally bit a sibling and they suffered a bit of poisoning? If any of y'all want to give your baby a bit of trauma hERE YOU GO
Oh and if we're planning up a group (not right away because they may all die haha) Pisces is just about the only room that doesn't already have a group (or group-in-exile, as with KoE). We could also do Hydra or Fornax, but I'm pretty sure none of them can swim and Hydra is the big death cave™. Aside from that and a name, there's also group colors and spell to think about, too. Perhaps their spell could be related to the trial they survived? Or maybe it could relate to their familial bond, a spell that becomes stronger when they're all together?

ABOUT SIMON:
Maybe Simon could've tried lashing out at a sibling and Kini and/or Owlface could've stepped in to stop 'em? In which case one of the two would've gotten bit? Or perhaps another sibling just would've gotten bitten, in which case Kini would be exceptionally quick to jump on Simon's case about using venom. Kini would probably stick with Simon as much as possible, both to try and keep Simon from feeling too alone and afraid of outsiders, and to remind Simon that "venom should only be used for good Simon, don't forget that, okay? Okay. If someone if going to hurt someone else that doesn't look like they can defend themself, that's the best time to use your venom. Do you understand that? Alright. Stay close to me if you're feeling scared, dear. :3" Etc. How does that sound @Simon ?
ABOUT GROUP:
Okay Pisces is fine by me?? Fornax is a bit to Watery for these suckers I think, but I also think post-Trial they might wanna get as FAR away from that freaky death cave as possible. Maybe have 'em stay in a big Tunnel and camp out there?
As for colors??? Uhhhh which combinations are taken already and which are y'all's favorites?
As for a power, DEFINITELY a survivalist power that gets stronger with the strength of the user's allyships and bonds!!! YESSS!!! That'd be cool. So like, maybe it's Animal or Plant? Or even Water! And it's about generating food or protection for someone else; the stronger your connection to the creature you're protecting, the stronger the spell? Maybe.
Or actually, since the trial is SPooky, maybe it could be about dispelling fear or darkness, and it gets stronger when more of the same kind of spell is contributed to it? That could be like Arcane or Light?
I like the survival + cooperation theme if you can't tell :,3

They see Kini more as the 'will fight' protector and them self more as the 'will help siblings when hurt' kind of protector, but they'd Definitely get along well. As two of the oldest siblings (though Kini is quite a bit bigger than Owlface) I feel like they'd be the two the rest look up to the most, but of course that doesn't have to be the case!

I feel like they'd be curious about the venom? Just like "Oh wow I didn't know biting someone could do that" but also still pretty cautious about it. I feel like otherwise though Simon and Owlface would get along pretty well. Both like to sit back and watch things more but also pretty curious and adventurous.
THE GROUP:
Pisces is good! I definitely think they'd try to get as far away from hydra as possible after the trial. I think, Tunnel O, Tunnel H, and Tunnel N would also be good choices for the group.
Yellow, Pink, Dark blue, and lime green all seem to be colors that haven't been taken at the moment. I like yellow the most, personally.
Here are some spell ideas I have (please excuse any awkward wording)
Bond-share: The user gives some of their energy to another gembound. Can re-energized the other gembound or heal small wounds. More effective the more the gembound are bonded to each other. Over-use will drain the user.
(no name ideas for this one lol): The user hits a target with a glowing burst of magical energy, hurting them if hit. The more users cast this spell, the bigger and more dangerous the projectile gets.
Herd-sense: User temporarily taps into the senses of those around them, extending their range of sight/hearing/etc. More effective the more the user is bonded with those around them.
I do think it'd be fun if the spell related to the trial. Maybe it's inspired by whatever monster is chasing them?

Simon --> Owlface: Fren!! Simon would love to go on adventures with pagapodite (though a bit less chaotic since he's more neutral-lawful). Though there's not a lot to do in an isolated, dark cave, I'd figured they made up some games to pass the time there! Simon would definitely see them as more of the "cool guardian" (not that Kini isn't cool lol)
Simon --> Kini: Simon sees Kini as a bit of a mentor, but still an awesome friend. He might've looked to them for support and protection (he also supports them back!) and always feel safer if they're around. He wouldn't mind having Kini around to look out for him and might even be uncomfortable if they weren't there.
Simon --> Morganite: Simon --> Morganite: It's mom friend! Simon loves Morg just as much as they love him. He'd definitely curl around them whenever he got the chance and sees him as one of the few others that appreciates the niceness of silence (he doesn't know about their secret gossip life haha). If Morgies got down or upset about something, Simon would probably be the one to try and cheer them up.
Simon --> Charles: Simon would have a BALL with Charles 110%. You have the quiet kid and the theatre kid, and those always get together in the movies, right? I can imagine that whenever the other's got tired of hearing him ramble they'll be like "hey why don't you go talk to Simon?" It'll mainly just be a lot of one-sided conversations though, charles rambling on and on and simon faintly nodding and saying "uh-huh" every once in a while. The perfect friendship!
Simon --> Pumpkin: Small friend! Simon would probably let little pump sit on his head and go around like a little train. They're the only gembound in the group smaller than him, so I'd imagine he'd always be looking out for him and trying to make sure he's safe. If something (or someone) tried to hurt them, he'd be the first one to respond.
Simon --> Orenstein: Simon sees Orenstein as another member of he family and a friend, but unfortunately not much more. They don't have any bad blood (at least, I don't think they do) but there simply isn't much in common between the quiet guy and the jokester. However, if he got too stressed he'd definitely be the one to go over and listen to a couple puns to calm down.

KINI-YOLOTL
Kini --> Simon: Considers Simon as part of its "flock" for the most part (someone to be protected), but definitely thinks Simon has the potential to be a protector if they gained some confidence and control (especially over their venom); may keep an eye on Simon in particular and try to counsel/support them in becoming more Big Parent Energy-aligned and staying out of more traumatic venom trouble.
Kini --> Owlface: Definitely sees Owl as another defender, the kind that stays with those that are hurt as opposed to running off after the hurt-giver (which is just as valuable!!); kind of wants Owl to be a little more Dilligent ™ and careful so they don't do something too wacky and wild; might act as a calming point for Owl's chaotic urges (( @Owlface lemme know if you're ok with this))???
Kini --> Morganite: Absolutely sees as a fellow guardian, is constantly grateful for the help they and Owlface provide in rAISING THESE CHILDREN DARN IT; really enjoys their chat sessions and might turn to Morganite when feeling exhausted; might go out of its way to get some juicy info once in a while to tell Morganite about, and enjoys being a shoulder to doze/cry on or an ear for listening; at times wishes Morganite would be a little more active, but this only really occurs when Kini is feeling overwhelmed and/or stressed.
Kini --> Charles: ???
Kini --> Pumpkin: Lad. LAD. You must PIPE DOWN, LAD!!! Pumpkin is part of the family and is thus loved very much, but WHY must Pumpkin INSIST on being so fiery and hard to keep safe?! Kini does not consider the tiny borb to be of the "guardian" variety, and, as a result, would very much appreciate it if Pumpkin weren't so resistant to basic self-preservation instincts; Kini might be quicker to double down extra hard on Pumpkin when the borb is being too loud and rebellious for his own good because it's! A little! Concerning and upsetting!!!
Kini --> Orenstein: Values Orenstein's upbeat and positive persona; considers Orenstein a soul to be protected and held dear, not just because he is adorable and endearing, but also because his positivity is important to the entire group; may persistently have a few chats with Orenstein where it will try to remind him that "sometimes, the best thing you can do for others is keep yourself alive, understand?"

MORGANITE
Morganite --> Simon: Their son. Fucking- just- loves. Love him. A good boy. Likes to put Simon on their back so he can coil around her neck. Especially if he's sad or noticeably uncomfortable or thinking too hard. Their fur is soft and they abuse that fact. They may not call themselves mom or anything (and no one's sure who's the oldest but either way they've taken that role), but they sure do mother Simon. Kind of misses rowdy Simon, because they were totally up for frolicking about and having fun.
Morganite --> Owlface: Morganite's definitely the one who'll push Owlface to the ground and start intensely grooming them and tell them to take a nap god damn it. They also tend to swoop in and pull a, 'oh we need to go walk the fish' when Owlface shoves their foot too far in their mouth. They're very calm and can explain what went wrong and how to go about it properly before pushing them back into the conversation. They promote growth baby!!
Morganite --> Kini: Definitely thinks of the other as an equal parental figure, like a dad, but not to themselves. More like a partner, or a co-parent. They see them as a family member, definitely, and tend to slump against them at the end of the day, sharing soft words before dozing off. They do try to treat everyone as equally as possible and try to pamper Kini as well, but in their own special way, with less grooming and more, 'did you see what Karen did the other day?' sort of gossipy session as they graze. They're definitely talkative around Kini.

Right now Simon is SUPER polite and nice to everyone and wouldn't hurt a soul. But it's safe to assume that when he was younger he was also rowdier. Maybe they could have been roughing around a bit and Simon got a bit too aggressive? And when one of the others step in to break it up (kini?) he lashes out and bites them and IMMEDIATELY feels guilty. And when Kini gives him their little lecture about using venom safely, he, in his little puddle of sadness, interprets that as "never use your venom ever again. you will explode and we'll disown you and erase your name from history." And that's where he actually gets his really pacifistic personality from. If he lives past the trial (or even just shove this during the trial) he could have a little character arc where he just learns to be braver and use his natural talent?
I'd imagine that by this point the whole incident is almost completely forgotten but the memory of disappointing his friends lives on D':

deep blue and yellow diluted: pretty!! Reminds me of a sunrise over the ocean.COLOR SET TWO

I was thinking that Morganite could be another parent- like a mom, more supportive and comforting while also being incredibly overprotective. They're a mama bear, essentially, when it comes to the kids.
Otherwise they're pretty easy-going to the point of seeming lazy. They're not, they just prefer to stop and smell the roses, y'know?
(But she'd totally start cuddle piles and get everyone to sleep in a pile with her on the bottom.)
Also i love color set two, and my next post will be her relationships with the others (ill edit as we go)

ok I could totally see Charles as being like That Guy that they all love to bits but also every so often they just want him to PLEASE shut up and pay attention. Like, at this point, they're used to his overdramatic bullshit and it's very much a trademark of him and they appreciate that part of him, but, like a family does, you know, they're not exactly very impressed with it ever.
I would add more right now but I barely have half a brain to spare but feel free to throw out suggestions for how he would fit in too!
