Appearance: An immense, oily serpent, eighteen feet from nose to hip with a long additional coil of tail. Forked (and violet-tipped) tongue can taste the air with high sensitivity; hard scales and scutes across the body provide good natural armor, patterned in black and violet. Several insectoid limbs at the fore-torso can scuttle it along, with the strongest frontmost pair able to grip and grasp prey. Six eyes and heat-sensing snout pits allow both visible-spectrum and infrared vision. A pincer at the tail is weak, but sharp, capable of inflicting lacerations but not crushing damage: that comes from the coils. Two sharp horns at the rear of the skull protect the head from behind, and the long, sharp quills can easily impale a careless attacker. Its eyes, heat pits, and tongue-tip glow purple. This creature leaks Oil as a constant, dribbling it along as they go, and the scutes along the underside are somewhat fire-resistant: this creature was created with the intention of ensnaring and constricting prey, then igniting them in its own Oil with the Cursed Flame spell.

Gender: To be chosen by adopter (Ollie)
Species: Valkhound
Appearance: A replacement for the chrysalized "Cheshire," intended to be a scout and messenger for Vargas, Chaos-Eight shows both close similarities and marked improvements upon the last design. A darker color and slimmer build allow for more agile movements, and a paralysis-inducing sting at the end of the tail adds an extra layer of defense. Additional front limbs grant more gripping power and maneuverability in narrow spaces. The creature is overall a mixture of owl and cat at first glance, only a foot and a half or so tall and black-feathered, its soft fur and feathers banded in dark purple. The small, pointed beak and soft-furred face part to reveal a strong, large, chomping jaw with beaked teeth built right in. "Paws" are thickly-feathered owl legs, zygodactyl with two toes pointing forward and two back, the better to grip perches and branches with. Cat-like ears cup owl's head, providing very good hearing, glowing owlcat eyes give excellent night vision, and the owl's wings are silent in flight. The light of the eyes can, however, give the creature away if it isn't careful.

Ollie is going to be adopting cat-owl, but the other one's gonna be up for TEMPORARY adoption. How this works:

TEMPORARY ADOPTION INFORMATION
Summary: THE VOID SERPENT is a big ol' Oily Snake who can be adopted, and roleplayed, for four months before Lord Dhracia removes it from the caves.




- This serpent will be 18 feet from nose to hip + tail, with powerful muscles and strong offensive and defensive abilities, so it'll need to be roleplayed with responsible attention to its power level. It can have any personality you like, any/no gender, etc; however, chaos magic will render it prone to chaotic temperament. This doesn't mean it needs to be sadistic or evil, but that it will not be secretly gentle and reluctant, etc., within reason.

- You MUST be active with this character. The character will be re-adopted out if it hasn't been in at least 2 threads/cycle and made progress on at least some rolls (as long as it's active, that's fine, I'll be lenient--but these characters are plot-centric and need to be active).

- KRITHIS, THE VOID SERPENT/THE DEVOURER is likely to be trained as a killer (magic, physical combat OR other by player choice), by either NPCs, Chaos Forge characters, or both.

- As per the Foster-a-Monster program, Krithis will be removed from the caves at adulthood--but will still be alive off-screen, and has potential (not yet revealed) roleplay potential beyond that. Magicka spent cannot be regained, but I'd ask that anyone adopting do try to treat them like a "real" character in terms of progression and spells/techniques/tactics, instead of deliberately avoiding spending magicka on them.

- As per the same program, death is possible, but reliant on player behavior. Unless it does something amazingly stupid, uncontrollable or perceived as "weak" it is highly unlikely to die in its first four cycles.

- This character's starting spell will be Cursed Flame. Aside from that, the player can choose what it learns, and which path it takes. It may become an assassin (other), focus on using its coils (combat), or on its flame (magic).

OOC Name: Fracture
Krithis character concept: Other-specialization, ideally cultist with assassin leanings if it gets to transcend. Feral little creachure but is surprisingly good with words; will probably develop a bit of a complex upon learning it was a special creation made specifically for its task. Even with its charisma it's not afraid to get into a fight and fight dirty.

Awake. Awake.

Where was it before? What was it before? A neonate in a chrysalis, a child in a shell; but those things do not matter. There is only the now, and the awake, and—

—the smell of someone, close. Covered in wet-stuff, cold to the second-eye sense, but warm beneath; the end result being a lukewarm sort of figure just crawling out of its own chrysalis.

Sibling? Sibling. Clutchmate.

Perhaps this will be significant later, but for now its only thought is like-me creature, and that is enough to dull its attentions for the moment, as the oily serpent raises its head and flicks its tongue for the first time, forks wiggling in the open air.

There are many scents here. Life-scent, wet and active all around it, but also acid-acrid bitter scent (chaos, beautiful beautiful chaos), dripping from its own scales, familiar and warm and safe, and then, in front, just a few feet ahead, the shape-form-warmth of something that towers far beneath it, breathing and alive. So big, in fact, that the newborn assumes it must be something other than creature; a living piece of scenery, regarding it and its clutchmate with gleaming green eyes.

A front pincer grasps about for a few moments before it comes across a suitable clump of sediment.

It cocks its arm back and throws with all the impulsive thought process of a three-year-old, wondering if hitting big-warm-boulder will cause it to move or if it's just rooted into the ground.

Can you keep this character active? Yes! Ideally hoping to post multiple times a week using writing sprints as motivation.
