QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Cancer was delighted to receive such a friendly greeting from Bev, who fluttered down to his horn as usual. He grinned at the news of Eeya's swim through underground rivers- like he'd suspected there'd be. Then, the news of big fish, and Cancer beamed. Then Eeya squealed her agreement to such things, in a simpler way that suggested to Can that, despite her larger size, Eeya was younger than them. He'd play it cool.
"That's fantastic!" He purred. "Eeya, it's great to meet you. I'm glad you're here! I've been hoping to map out all of the tunnels of Origin Cave, including those that run with water." He grinned, and touched a paw to his neck. "No gills, though, and I can't hold my breath too long, so you see the problem, right?" A short laugh followed, then he moved closer to the water's edge, carefully easing himself across the stone, with his tail dipping into the water just slightly.
"Will you be staying with us here in Pisces? As you can see, our lagoon would give you ample space to swim. If you came here through tunnels, you'd be free to leave as well, any time you like. We're called Maji Walezi, our group. It means Water Guardians. Think you'd be interested?" He grinned then. "Of course, any new recruit has to pass a little test. Right Bevy?"
All of Bevy considered what Eeya said, and then what Cancer said. Ratchie seemed quite enthusiastic about the guest, and about everything, really, but that was usual for them. "Yeah, definitely! I hope you'll stay with us, Eeya..." A quick glance at their leader and a bright, eager-to-please tone took hold in their voice, "he'd make a good Scout, huh? So that means a Trial of Strength." They considered how that would work, considering none of them knew the water ways, but hey, they-- that is, Ratchie and Cancer-- could come up with something, surely!
"You should definitely teach Leon and Makyna and Cancer and Amaria... Do you think Midas can swim? Well anyway-- you should teach everyone! I don't think I could swim though... It would run my feathers and I need those to fly-- and no offense, but I really like being able to fly." With that, they spread their wings and hopped up into the sky again, spiraling over them. Everyone else could learn. It would be another thing to separate them-- a ping of sadness came echoing from deep up in their chest-- but the skill was too valuable to ignore.
Staying Pisces? Hmm... It was different here than in Polaris and that big crashing waterfall was really neat. He loved it! It was fun to jump through and play with. The lagoon was also very big, more than large enough for him to swim and race around in. Plus there was the area underneath the lagoon so he would never be at want for more space. Then there was the addition of his friends if he stayed here. All these land critters would love him and his ability to swim. Aww, what the heck! He would stay! The dolphin gave a bob of his head in a "yes". "Yeah yeah! Eeya stay! He help his land-critter friends map out under waters tunnels!" He didn't know what a map was but it sounded important! Anything that was important was worth helping out with! He was in!
He did see the problem though. He didn't have gills either but he could certainly hold his breath for a decent amount of time so that he could swim around. "Eeya love to stay and help! He want to be Water Guardian! He want to be part of Maaaajiiii Waleeeeeeiiiiii! He teach all to swim! All that want to learn! Swimming is fun!" He sang loudly and happily. Then they started talking about a test. He looked back and forth between the two as they spoke. Eyes glittering as he tried to figure out what they meant. A test, eh? He was ready for any test!
"Eeya always up for challenge! He ready for any test! Give him test! He pass it! Watch!" The dolphin whistled enthusiastically. Then he stopped his enthusiastic words long enough to tilt his head slightly to the side and ask, "What sort test?" Not that he was afraid but it would be nice to know what he was doing so he could get to work on showing his new friends he was more than up to the challenge to be a Water Guardian. Oooooo that just sounded so awesome! A job that was perfect for a dolphin!

"Talking looks like this." Thinking looks like this...
Bevy considered the idea of what the challenge should include... Usually scout challenges involved exploring a place, but they liked to send recruits to places they knew... If there was a good place where they could meet-- actually, that was a great idea! Bevy wondered if Cancer would be again the idea, but she thought it was a perfect test. Scouts needed to be fast and strong, right?
They also need a good mental map of the area. Bevy knew how to get to Polaris, and the Dolphin had come from Polaris... So... "Alright, well, if it's alright for me to suggest..." Normally, she would have certainly sent for Leon's opinion, since he was the First Scout, but she had no clue where the fluffy bear was. So...
"As per usual, the Trial of Strength. Do you know where the Dam is in Polaris?" She hoped Cancer wouldn't worry too much-- he was a protective sort. She would fly above and it would be fine, surely. Golems couldn't swim, anyway. "Your mission is to go to Polaris, as quick as you can, and to the Dam there. Count the golems that still roam by there, and then return here. Sound good?"
Of course, Bevy wanted to make sure she was there to watch over Eeya's trial. "I'll scout ahead. If you have any question, just ask Can', okay? And don't worry, I'll stay out of the way!" With that, the tiny birb was off, fluttering towards the exit of Pisces-- she would have to hurry if she wanted to get there before the water torpedo did.
Eeya turned to the bird. Certainly ready to hear what it was he had to do. His mouth was frozen in a permanent grin for the test. He would do anything if it meant he could get into this awesome group! He wanted to help! He wanted to do everything he could to please his new friends! That started by doing this test!
He bobbed his head up and down when she asked him if he knew where the dam was. That was easy! "That easy easy! Eeya can count big-slow-rock-bodies! He fast! They slow!" That was easy enough in his eyes. He'd zoom up there nearby and count all of the lumbering things. Shallow water might be tricky to navigate in but he could do it or even maybe trick the golems into coming into the deep water where they would surely sink and be even easier to count. Maybe if he tricked them all to the riverfloor they would crumble apart!
"Okay okay! Eeya go to dam and count golems! It take no time at all! He ready! Bye-bye!" With that the dolphin leaped out of the water and when he landed zoomed beneath the surface straight to Polaris. This mission would be a snap!
