It wasn't much longer, after their shouting, that the Beast did appear. Bevy had not expected something so black and big. It was long, and spindly, made of pure shadow. It almost hurt to look at, like a void in the world that could move. How did Aza'zel and Makyna come to befriend such a thing? They were so much more brave than she could ever be. Trembling, the tiny bird felt a need to raise her defenses, to protect herself from this thing as it got closer. She felt so bad-- her friends had made it sound like he was just a poor fellow who had lost his friend, but all she could see was a big nightmare monster.

The magic came to her with practiced ease. With a localized flash of red from her breast, the gift of life ran through her veins, and she felt her insides soothe, the stomach ache from her anxiety fading. She felt almost invincible despite her fright, and for a moment, she nearly felt confident. Her multi-streaked eyes peered up at the great Beast, wonder filling her. How had he come to be? What was he? Did he actually speak?... Well, she had assumed he had, since her friends had talked to him, but then, what did he sound like? Would he say anything to her?

She looked down at the rock once more as the Beast approached it. Just what had made this creature, anyway? Had he come from a gemstone chrysalis like they had? Timidly, she decided it might be good to introduce herself.

"My name's Bevy," she offered, softly. "If this is your friend's stone..." She thought about the gem on her own chest, the one who's light was still dimming from the glow of her magic. Could a gembound live without their stone? Somehow, the tiny bird didn't think so. Did this mean his friend was dead...? Who had taken his gem? Surely not her friends-- they must have found it after. Her friends would never hurt anyone.

She sure hoped the Beast would not be angry with them.

She could feel that her magick had worked, that it tapped into the Beast's mind but it felt different than when she talked to Leon. It was an older mind, ancient feeling and startling. After she ended the message the lioness sat down on the ground, brow furrowing as she pondered on the strange feeling. What all did this thing know? It made her want to sit down with him and ask or touch him for a bit of hindsight but what sort of vision would she see from that? There were endless possibilities. "He'll come..." The lioness said more to herself than to reassure her friends. Yes. She was certain he'd be here.

Sure enough after a few moments the creature materialized from the shadows, his green glow and spindly appearance no less weird than before. The creature's eyes were glued to the stone and Makyna had the distinct feeling that this indeed was something that he was looking for. The lioness smiled happy that the creature would be reunited with a long lost item. Makyna would have added her own words to the mix besides a, "Hello there." But Aza'zel pretty much summed up all of her thoughts so she just gave a nod of assent as she watched the green-eyed beast.

As he approached, he could feel the younger Gembounds seemingly grow anxious. He could not blame them; he was unfamiliar, he was unlike them. But his thoughts didn't extend much further than that while his gaze was glued to the stone. His approach was slow, as though he looked upon the stone with utmost reverence, as if failing to respect its presence would leave him cursed. The beast barely flicked his gaze back up to the bird as he explained how they had come across the stone. A vision... a memory. Yes, could he delve that many years into the past - and he could - he would remember that day. He focused back on the stone. A grimace stretched across his maw, and his eyes were wide with wonder. He could feel a surge of sudden magic - the small bird. But it made no difference. Not to him.

He reached forward with one long arm; his hand hovered delicately over the stone, picking it up from the ground with only two fingers. Beast lifted it to his face and examined it, turning it over, tilting it so that its glistening black surface caught the light. His breathing had softened, as if fearful that even breathing too hard would some how cause the stone in his hand to turn to dust. It had been so long. Even holding it now, he felt something within. Something reaching out. The beast suddenly turned his eyes back to the Gembounds and curled a fist around the stone. "Myy friiieeennnd." He croaked. It was apparent that the stone had affected him greatly, struck by sheer veneration of its presence. "Yeeess. Yoouu were made to fiiind this stone." The beast's arm began to fold back towards his chest, and his head tipped down, staring at the gleaming stone in adoration. "The rest, now." He murmured, and suddenly flicked his gaze back to them. The beast's free arm launched out, gesturing to the tunnels beyond. "Go!"

Without another words, the creature rose. He tenderly cradled the stone in his arms as he made his way back to the shadows, which would absorb him and hold him dearly, vanishing from sight.

The creature night and shadows approached, uncertainty obvious in his stance as he gazed down at the stone he'd nosed forth. Verdant eyes glowed and flickered as he reached down with slender fingers. Capturing the stone with just two, the bird took a step back, carmine eyes glimmering with sheer wonder. Beast gazed at it with adoration, breath hitching. It had to be of importance, but what exactly? Azazel hadn't the mind to ask, for he thought it would make sense in time. Yes... Soon it would. They'd have to find the rest of his friend, first. Maybe then the serenbedite would be revealed as useful. For now, the beast struck an arm out, seeking more of his friend and the rest of him.

The Bone King did not need to be told twice, for he took to the air. Powerful wingstrokes kept the bird aloft, as he watched the tall Gembound vanish into what seemed to be his home. "I guess I will see you all later!" He cried, nodding with glee. He'd definitely go out to search for parts of Beast's friend, but first... he had to get a little friend to help. Surely that'd work if he had a companion to travel with. So he was off, headed toward Canis to find a special little white fawn.

Yes, the big black Beast was horrifying. Bevy hated thinking so poorly of another creature who had done nothing wrong, but the way he moved made her feathers ruffle in all of the wrong ways. She was glad to see him go but also she felt rather empty, and unsure that they had done the right thing. Sure her friends seemed convinced that he was nice... But the way he snatched the rock, and then demanded they get more pieces...

It just did not sit right with the little bird. Not that she could say anything, instead she just had to stand idly by while Azazel flew off. "O-oh... See you," she peeped softly, wings pressed tight to her side. She was quite shaken up from the whole thing, and indeed quite tired from her frantic flight all the way there.

She turned to look at Makyna and thought how nice it would be to just hop up on her back and nestle between her shoulders. She resisted that thought-- she certainly could not do that even if Ky was okay with it. Instead, she made a nervous peeping noise and eventually spoke up.

"A-a-..a..ah... Maybe we... Maybe we should go back home, Ky..." Bevy was hoping she wouldn't have to make the trip all alone. Seeing that thing had honestly frightened her more than anything else ever had in the cave so far. More than even the fight with her friends-- though, at least there she knew everyone was just frustrated and not actually mean and maybe that was the key difference.

The big black thing came and gazed at the stone with adoration in his eyes. It was obviously precious to him with how he treated the thing. Ky was glad that he had reunited the creature with his friend... or whatever it was. The lioness was sure that the stone was in the right hands now. She turned to give a smile at Aza'zel but jumped when the shadow-y creature called out to them suddenly. Demanding that the find the other things, the metal pieces. Ky gave a nod though yelling in such a way was uncalled for in her mind. She said nothing about this and simply nodded, deciding to keep her thoughts to herself. They weren't beneficial and would only insult the creature and who knew what such a powerful entity could do.

Aza'zel called to them, going to take his leave and Ky waved a paw. "See you, Aza!" The lioness turned to Bevy and nodded her head. Yes. It was high time that they did leave. "Yeah, I think we should. Our work is done here, for now." She turned and flicked her tail towards the exit. "Come on, let's go." Then she was off with Bevy hopefully following.

Makyna didn't seem to notice-- or at least comment-- on how flighty she was. Bevy was partially glad for that, but only because her friend seemed okay with going back home. Sometimes she felt like hardly anyone noticed her much, which was a bit frustrating, but for now she wouldn't worry about it. That weird shadowy Beast had brought out all of her negative thoughts and now in her worries and insecurities and fright she was fussing about all sorts of things. Part of her truly wished that Makyna would notice-- but she didn't seem to and without prompting the shy bird simply fell in line behind the lioness.

She was so tired, and it was quite a long flight back. Hopefully Ky had something fun to talk about to distract her-- and actually, Bevy decided that was likely the best course of action. As they traveled home, the small bird chirped out a, "So what have you been up to? I want to hear all about your exploring adventure today." And with that, she might just strike a conversation big enough to keep her mind from straying to a worrying, doubtful place.

If only when she got home Cancer would be there to share the story with-- but Ky was going home too, and with a pang of jealousy she knew she might not get much chance to be alone with her best friend. She lost herself if Ky's exciting stories and decided that thinking was just something she would have to try not to do tonight.
