Rift shook his head stubbornly. "No, you need to do something about your paws. If you keep going like this, your not going to have paws, or fur, or skin. Here, I'll grow you something."

Bounding away from the burned, ashy place, he pushed his nose into the ground and breathed deeply. Calling specific plants was always a challenge, but he knew he could do it. He felt the seeds swirling and changing as they started to grow. They flourished into small succulents, pointed and spiky. They weren't huge, but they would be enough for Ritonai's paws.

He grasped one and began to chew it up, cringing at the spikes that scratched at his tongue and mouth. Eventually, however, it had been reduced to a crushed, cool glob.

He turned and raised his paw, spitting out the aloe onto it. He looked up at Ritz. "I know, its a little gross, but it'll help. Let me spread this on your paws. It's aloe vera, it'll cool off your skin."

She'd be fine. Ritz knew she'd be fine. After all, fire users had to deal with this. But Rift objected and grew plants anyway, turning them into a weird icky looking substance. But he said it'd help, and Ritz trusted him.

Sticking out her front paw, Ritonai squeezed her eyes shut. This was probably gonna hurt.

Grateful that she was letting him help her, he hopped forward and began to smear the paste onto her paw. And then, once he was done, he did the other until both were covered with a thin layer of green paste.

He sniffed them. Aloe vera smelled really nice and he knew that it would feel good on burns. With Sebastian around, he knew how relaxing the paste of aloe felt on burns and blisters. "How does it feel? Any better?"

Ritz was very surprised. That didn't hurt at all! In fact, it felt good! Real good. He paws didn't burn, but instead felt nice and cool. The gel was kinda squishy too, and it felt like a weird mushroom almost. Getting an Idea, Ritonai ran off to a tree, grabbed two leaves, thanked it, and plopped down on her butt.

Using her teeth, the little fennec fox wrapped her paws in the leaves and time them up securely to keep the gel on them, and keep the blisters from getting infected. That and the leaves made pretty cute boots too.

Ritonai made her way back to Rift, a grin on her face. "I made myself boots with the leaves. I also thanked the tree I got the leaves from, 'cause I hurt it a little. Do you think it minded?" She asked, hoping that it was okay that she took the leaves.

Rift smiled with satisfaction, proud of Ritonai for doing just what he would do. When she returned with the leaves, he nodded. "I don't think it did, as long as you have good intentions. I've plucked leaves and fruits before. I give thanks and the plants are still my friends. They are happy to help."

Rift gave the leaf boots a sniff. They certainly were interesting and he was proud of Ritonai's creativity. He had a strange thought, all of a sudden. He would have to try it out later. He was starting to get a little bit tired and his magic was wearing out. "Well, what do you say. Turn in for the night?"

Ritonai was happy. She had done the right thing. She was fixing her mistakes, and righting her wrongs. She was learning how to help the plants, not hurt them. The little fox was beaming. That, and these boots looked fabulous. A nice contrast to her copper and cream fur.

"Yeah, I think it's time to head off to bed." Ritonai agreed with a yawn. It had been a long day, and a good one.

Rift nodded and led the way back to the tree. When they arrived back under the huge roots, he scraped some of the moss off the side and fashioned a bed for Ritonai to sleep in. He stepped into his own and curled up, his consciousness drifting away quickly.

Ritonai followed Rift back to his tree, not having the way fully memorized yet. She watched patiently as he made her a bed, and climbed into his own. The fox curled up in the moss, tired but unable to sleep.

She got up and paced around the tree for a while, admiring his handiwork. It was really pretty here, and she wanted to stay. Mor and more she realized, she liked Rift. She liked plants. She liked Eridanus. Now tired, Ritz moved to her bed of moss and fell asleep quickly, the void of unconsciousness welcoming her.
