ADDERSTRIKE
I will plant my heart in the garden of my dreams,
And I will grow up where I'll wander wild and free.

She was starting to get uncomfortable.

Really uncomfortable, actually.

It didn't bother her, really, as she didn't know otherwise. But she was kind of wondering if there was an Other, where things weren't uncomfortable. Where her ears weren't kinked uncomfortably, tail curled against her back, paws forced against her chest. Oh, she hoped there was! An Other where she could do something!

Which was how she found herself pushing out, stretching out with oversized paws and surprisingly strong legs, a sudden force of mental energy lashing out at the confining Chrysalis. It shattered in a rather unimpressive display, crumbling around her like fragile ice, light blue shards glistening in dull orange fur.

The kitten found herself sprawled on her stomach, suddenly in the Big and Open. Her eyes were wide, attempting to take everything in. And, oh, wasn't it so big and so pretty? Things glistened and shined, jutting up from the ground and she wanted to know what they were! She stood, wobbling on paws that were far too big for her, and moved to try to wander over to it -

Crunch.

Something shattered beneath her paw, and her rightmost ear twitched towards the sound. Raising it, she found tiny little glistening shards - oh, pretty! and, looking around, she realized that she was surrounded by many more, much larger, ones. Oh, oh! With an excited "MEW!" she began to leap and pounce, knocking them this way and that.

Her belly hurt.

She'd gone hunting when she fell asleep, and now that she woke up, there was nothing more the massive kitten could do except for lay there and feel sorry for herself. Woe is her. She ate too much. She got too good at hunting. She was the best. How could this ever get wor--

Cracking. Crumbling. A crunch.

"Wh--" she breathed, lifting her broad head up to look in the general direction that the sound had come from. Slowly, the kitten lifted herself to her paws, forgetting about the ache in her gut as she elected for moving herself towards the culprit of the sound.

She crept, the way she'd learned to do when she was hunting, quietly along. There was another sound-- something more familiar, a noise she'd made before --and when she peered along the edge of some rocks she saw another cat.

This one looked more like Pale than Jay, which logically meant that it must act like Pale, too. Except she wouldn't imagine Pale doing-- whatever this cat was doing. So, slowly Jay began to slink out from her hiding spot.

"Where'd you come from?" She asked, flicking her ears upright. "Did you just-- come out of your shiny-thing?"

She had been sleeping. Her spar with Jay had left her weary and tired and when she awoke she was supposed to get up and find something to eat. But the loud cracking and shattering had disturbed her rest and she opened one eye to see another kitten falling to the ground.

What? Another one? It was a coincidence that she and Jay had hatched together but here was another one, on the same day! She didn't want to move from her spot - she was sleeping - but, at the same time, there was someone there, someone who's existence was coincidental to the point of disbelief. She needed to see what was going on.

So her other eye opened as well and she gracefully got right to her feet and stepped over, watching the little child jump around, pawing at the crystals and laughing loudly. She frowned. It looked very silly. Her ears twitched as she stuck a paw forward, trying to swat at the other kitten and get their attention. "Stop that." Perhaps it was a little rude, but if she wanted to get it to talk then they'd have to stop being so foolish.

Oh, wasn't this fun?

The kitten hopped, as best she could, tail sticking straight up as she knocked another shard to the side. It made a very nice crnch-ing sound and she giggled, pouncing forward to sniff.

It had become many little shiny things! Tiny and too small to really be worth playing with, but still shiny and pretty. Could she keep them? Oh, she hoped she could, shinies were nice!

The kitten jumped high, landing on another one, feeling it rock beneath her. She lowered her head, sniffing at the shiny thing, wholly unaware of either of the approaching kittens.

She was startled by the black kitten, whirling to face it, knocking shards every which way. But her fur wasn't on end, she wasn't bristled or snarling. Instead, she perked up, smiling in a cat's way, tilting her head. "O-oh, hel-el-elo!" she tried out her voice, a purr rumbling in her chest. "My-my shiny thing? Oh, yes, yes I did! Do you, do you want a piece? It's very, very pretty and shiny!"

She turned, batting through the shinies, trying to find one that she thought the black-cat would like, only to find herself swatted by a cat who looked not un-like her, although she didn't know it yet. "Stop? Why?" her ear twitched, and the shards exploded in her face. Adderstrike squeaked, stumbling back as one lodged itself up her nose. She sneezed violently, furrowing her nose and her brow, until it finally come unlodged, hitting the ground.
