The aardvark would, over time, have dug several hours' and perhaps fifteen feet in a curving arc beneath the ground.

Now, behind the last, large, clawed set of bones, the tunnel ended: only rock, rounded at the end, still scored beyond the dirt with heavy clawmarks. The aardvark would be left with all the dirt she'd have had to dig out, and the piles of bones forming at least three long-dead creatures.

Erzu went back to the first skeleton that she found. It was the one with the skull that was crushed along with some of the higher vertebrae as well. She tried to use her magic on it, but it obviously failed miserably. She took her paw off, not willing to give up. She would see what this creature used to look like before death. Giving up was not something that would happen with this gembound.

Erzu's last attempt did not work. No mater, she would try it again. She put her magic to work, and finally her magic was functioning right. She hoped to see what these bones used to look like when they were alive. Even from looking at the bones of the first skeleton, she had no clue what any part of it could have looked like. Using hindsight on it was better and much more interesting. She looked at the vision with absolute care.

"...get it as deep as we can before they find us." The words were distant, half-lost to time. The shapes in the tunnel were dark: cowering figures, many small, some large. All of them alien. The nearest had six eyes, the next four, but all were wide with fear. And all crouched in the mouth of the half-dug tunnel, with nowhere else to go.

The speaker was almost canine, with many legs, but bar a green stripe down glittering, leathery hide, it was too dark to see it clearly.

"Just-... be fast. I don't know how long I can..."

Erzu wondered that about the first skeleton she found and just used hindsight on. If the bones were here, where was its gem? She looked around and saw what she was looking for. Though she did not know the name, she found a grandidierite that was a little spiky cluster maybe 2 inches in diameter. It extended from one of the limbs. She knew it had to belong to the first skeleton. Instead of using hindsight on it, she wanted to remove it. After all, the gemstone from this skeleton was of no use just sitting there.

Erzu wanted to pull the gem out. But in fear of breaking it she stopped. She sat down to take a break, hoping to get a chance to pull it out correctly next time. She inspected it, trying to find a right angle to pull out the gem. So far, no luck. How was she supposed to do this?!

Apparently it didn't work but she had to be careful. So she decided to just take another gamble at pulling it out. After a tough tug, she was finally able to pull out the gemstone with her claws. She held the gemstone in her mouth, and went to store the gemstone in one of her rooms in the underground tunnel. She would then sleep next to it, tired from all the digging.
