In the wild, prey animals like to keep their eye on where predators are. It is a defense mechanism that gives them somewhat of an advantage.

Remus had only one good eye. And he was up in a tree where the leaves were thickest. And the lion cub had just run off. To say the least, he no longer had the advantage.

OHMYGOODNESSOHMYGOODNESSOHMYGOODNESSOHMYGOODNESS
He gingerly hopped down to the lower branches, trying to find where the young lioness had gone. He saw nothing.

Again he was alone, so he perched on the lower branches and thought about life. This depressed him. In his mind, he was on the verge of a violent and bloody end and he had yet to know love. Oh, to die young was a curse.

And then the lion cub came back.

What is she dragging behind her? What is this idea of her's? Remus was too confused by the leaves to be sad now. He tried to think of what she might do to kill him with leaves. But nothing like the image of being pelted by a barrage of yellow fruit came to mind. In fact, this seemed extremely non-lethal.

Remus was now more confused than ever, but he knew that this lion cub was smart. She must be playing the long game...right? Maybe she just...wasn't very hungry?

"Okay!" He called down to her. He decided to go along with her plan...for now. At least they'd get more fruit this way. He started pecking at stems.

He tossed them down to the cub and then start on the next fruit. It was oddly fun.

This isn't supposed to be this fun! But it was. And there was nothing Remus could do to change that.

As the young cub returned pulling the two leaves behind her in her mouth rather comically to be truthful. She was high stepping because her head was turned to the side and back, drawing her backwards on her back making her seem less deadly than she actually could be. In truth the girl may have been a predator but she just wanted friends. This bird just happened to be the first thing she found that talked back. So she sorta latched onto it without thinking about the fact that they were a prey animal. In fact she had pretty much ignored the fact that he was a prey animal all together and focused on the fact that, THEY TALKED BACK! That had her excited beyond measure.

As she took her place under the bird once more, she offered him up a sweet smile being sure to keep her predatory teeth hidden under her lips. She was at the very least trying to seem less intimidating as she had seemed to have that effect on them when they had first met. The young lioness took a ready position prepared to jump this way or the other in order to catch the falling fruits.

As the bird dropped the first fruit the young lioness dove for it, catching it between her upturned paws on a belly slide. She let out a pleased and enjoyed giggling as she darted over to one of the leaves and dropped it on it. Then she dove for the next one catching it in her jaws, she would alternate between using her paws and mouth to catch the fruit, using which would work best to catch the fruit first. They had gathered about five when she looked up and smiled her tail waving behind her like a happy puppy. ”How many more ya think we need?” She called up to the bird wondering how many more they would need before moving onto the next food for the feast.
