The rainbow obsidian had been sitting near the rift for some time. Long enough for it to grow from a small thing to a medium-sized, colorful stone. It cracks away, leaving behind a kitten. Big enough to be weaned and fend for itself, but small enough to be a tiny blip in this big world.

They shake out their fur quickly, removing some of the wet coating. Either head gazes at the area around them. A strange, new place. The shimmering rift instantly catches their attention. Glittering with strange power, the cats approach it.

What a pretty, strange thing.

Normally they stayed far, far away from the order-infested caves, but recently, they'd taken to looking for him. To get even just a glimpse, to make sure they weren't doing all of this for nothing. Even if it was unlikely to work at all. Honestly, finding his lost stone somewhere- as unlikely as that'd be- would probably be the easiest and most painless way of bringing him back.

Gemini could've been such a beautiful, fascinating cave if not suffocating film of white mold covering so much of the cave. "I should learn a fire spell or two." Skyward mused idly as they walked, "I've heard that its one of the easiest ways to get rid of this stuff."

"As long as you don't set us on fire on accident." Earthbound was only partially joking. Magic could do amazing things, but it had a habit of backfiring spectacularly. None of Sky's usual magic was particularly destructive, but something like fire could be.. disastrous.

"Oh come onn, I'm always careful with my magi-" "-wait, whats that?"

The first thing they notice is the shimmering tear in space- it's hard not to, with how supernatural and eye-catching it is. The second thing they notice is the tiny, two-headed feline who's slowly approaching the rift. A number of thoughts pop up, Haven't seen many gembound like us, before. Is that a shattered chrysalis? Oh thats a baby baby. Wait, they might get hurt touching that thing-

"HEY!" Ey shout, then realize that's probably not the most comforting way to greet a brand-spanking-new kid. Ey promptly crouch down in an attempt to look less intimidating. "Heyyyy... uh- sorry for maybe spooking you, but that thing might be dangerous. Why don't you come over here?" They both smile- Skyward a bit more awkwardly- and pat the ground next to them, invitingly.

@Lotuspath and Flintfall

The rift shimmers gently, almost merrily against the fractured remains of the chrysalis, but no item falls out. For now, it remains dormant.

@Horizon

HEY!

Their tail pinecones, legs straighten as they jump into the air comically. Their back arches in attempt to look larger than they actually are - but compared to Horizon, an adult two-legged gembound, it really does nothing.

Lotuspath's eyes are wide, ears turned back in alarm. Flintfall's teeth are bared, tiny needles looking more cute than intimidating. The crouch helps, although not that much.

"That was mean!" Flintfall's scratchy, kitten voice calls out.

Dangerous? Maybe we should listen to them.

The Rift doesn't look dangerous. The shimmers may touch their chrysalis, but... Neither of them are damaged! The gemstone only is because they fell out of it!

Despite the second thoughts, their body moves toward the hybrid. They're similar to the two of them, Lotuspath notes the two-heads.

"What is that?" Lotuspath asks the other gembound. "Who're you?"

@Horizon

She feels guilty for spooking the poor thing, but the kitten puffs up in such a ridiculously cartoonish way that Skyward can't help but chuckle despite herself. Earthbound frowns, "Sorry! Sorry... I just panicked. But I shouldn't have shouted at you." Ey glance around cautiously before slowly shifting into a cross-legged sitting position. Ey don't really want to linger here, not with a mysterious magic rift and all the hive infestation around, but ey shouldn't rush the kid either. They're spooked enough as-is.

"I'm not sure what that is, but it's definitely some kind of magic. And magic can be dangerous if you're not careful." Earthbound can't help but snort softly at that- wasn't he talking about picking up fire magic just a couple moments ago? Sky just rolls his eyes- just because he practices magic doesn't mean he isn't aware of the risks.

Usually she'd just give their shared name- makes things easier, simpler, they're a packaged deal anyways- but this time it feels different. This is the first time she's encountered a gembound with a similar.. situation to their own. "I'm Skyward, and this-" A somewhat overly dramatic wave towards her other head, "-Is Earthbound." Earthbound, a bit caught off guard at being singled out, smiles awkwardly. "What should we call you?" Ey weren't sure if such a brand-new kid would have an answer, but they seemed rather well-spoken- at least, moreso than they remember being when they first hatched.
