Kerberos dipped his heads and answered in a short, single word, "Baratheon." He had been in a great many fights, his injuries hidden under thick pelts of white, but he had gotten his neck scars as a newly hatched gembound in a fight with Baratheon. The scars were old now, but they had formed in his youth and clung to the tender patches of skin under his chin.

For now, however, he fell silent to give Delphine a chance to try her howl once more, and his pale pink eyes almost glowed in the dark, glistening with anticipation. He was sure she would get it this time, yeah, definitely! -- But the noise that she made as she tossed her head back gave it her best shot, made his ears perk and a sharp, cold jab flash through his spine. She was hurt! Something had hurt her! He whined and took a step closer as she backed away from him... Had he hurt her? He didn't remember hurting her-- why had she made that terrible, pained sound?

He nearly opened his jaws to say, "I'll--" eat whatever hurt you, Delphine! But before he could get the words out, she was speaking, and reason came to his minds once more. That was her attempt at a howl. It sounded so pained, so miserable. The wail echoed through the cavern, making his fur prickle and rise on his spine, but he reached forward to lick at her long muzzle.

"No no no, it was good!" He insisted, whining-- two thirds of him still thinking she might have hurt herself trying to howl. "Howling isn't about how strong you are anyway," he reasoned, "I'm only good cause I got three howl-spots, right?"

"Come on, let me show you my home and, and we can practice and get stronger together? You have magic right? Maybe we could practice magic, together?" He offered, backing away and starting towards Canis, keeping his eyes on her the whole while. Hopefully she was alright... Maybe Giggle would know why she couldn't howl properly.

Though mortified by her own attempt at a howl, she was just as easily placated by the long, warm lick along her muzzle. In that it was clear that she was still just a child as her eyes brightened with a hopeful glint and a smile hesitantly found its way along black lips. "Really?" She asked, truly believing that it was not so terrible so long as Kerberos thought so. It had never occurred to her that he'd simply been attempting to make her feel better about a situation that — regardless of how much practice she put into it — would never accomplish quite as much as she aspired for. "Do you think it's cause I don't have enough howl-spots?" It certainly seemed like a viable answer to why it was her voice did not boom quite the way his did and just like that, the filly was entirely reassured that it had not been her total and absolute failure but to the fault of what she lacked.

Her heart nearly leapt from her chest at his suggestion and in leaps and bounds the child closed the distance between them as she pranced around between his large feet. "Oh yes! That would be marvelous! You can show me your magic and I can show you mine! Maybe we can fight each other but you have to promise to go easy." She added in a matter-of-fact way because really, there was no other way this would work. Or perhaps she was looking for an excuse to bounce on the large three-headed dog but she was trying her hand at being somewhat subtle about the matter. "I can't wait, I can't wait!" She could barely keep her enthusiasm at bay as she bolted ahead in a mess of stilted legs and stuttering halts. How fortunate she was to have met Kerberos, how fortunate indeed.
