The dumb dumb slipped away! How could it do that that fast! It was definitely cheating somehow! The dirty mongrel was a cheater in drabby feathers! Fully insulted, the bird prince squawked as the other took off. Fine then, he thought, take off! The bird used this time to prepare for another attack, hunkering down, fluffing his feathers, and tucking his beak with his feet splayed for balance. The other bird didn't attack from above, however. Oh no, he landed and spread his massive- compared to Gertrude's- wings and blew a mighty gale directly at him. the bird struggled to stay upright. He fought and fought, but, being as little as he was, he failed, rolling back like a tumbleweed on a windy day. Each time the bird landed he let out a startled chirp, though he tumbled softly and was protected due to his feathers. When he was finally able to stand again, he and the other bird were about four feet apart. He could see his target still, though the other bird seemed to be miles away. Gertrude was going to show him the true power of a prince.

Keeping low, Gertrude attempted to close the gap between the two. He knew very well that his opponent might take off, so he held his wings softly, ready to take to the air if his opponent did. The bird kept his feathers fluffed and his head tucked, sure he was going to get a good attack. As he ran, the bird sought to slice downwards with the sharp hook of his head gem, aiming to cut the opposing bird's stomach laterally like a dissection specimen. He would win this! He would defeat this bird!

Ah ha! He'd gotten him! The raven watched with amusement as the other bird tumbled over backwards like a dirty-colored tumble-weed. The raven croaked out laughter while the bird tumbled but he altered his stance just slightly. While his legs remained spread apart and his talons still clutched the ground tightly for maximum balance and grip on the ground, Krakarak lowered his body slightly as he prepared himself for a retaliation. His feathers were puffed to protect his body and his head was tucked into himself to keep his neck safe. His wings were spread slightly as well for balance and his eyes were slitted but focused and remained locked onto the other bird.

He saw the dove pick himself up from the ground and come charging for him. Krakarak wasn't overtly worried about that. He was larger than the other bird and was certain he could take a charge easily and if needed use his beak while his adversary was up close. The other bird closed the distance and briefly Krakarak wondered why he did not use his wings to help enhance his speed by flying in. Could he not fly? The raven wasn't for certain but he had a hunch that this puffed up pinhead couldn't. After all, he hadn't countered Krakarak's own aerial attack by lifting into the air.

When the bird met him he didn't do a full on tackle like he thought. The bird instead slashed the head gem downwards and because of this sudden change in tactics Krakarak was caught off guard. The gem slashed open his stomach, spilling scarlet onto the ground. "KRAA!" He shouted in pain and surprise. Eyes flashing down briefly to see the wound. It was deep but not so deep as to be crippling. It was painful and it would leak blood for a while but Krakarak would have to ignore it for now. He had other matters to attend to. Like getting his revenge on this stupid pigeon!

He could not lose! Not after this insult!

To counterattack the raven tucked his head in further and rushed forward with his right shoulder forward, hopefully before the other bird could react, and attempt to tackle him. His goal was to knock the other bird off his feet with his greater size and hopefully get him in a position where he could do some damage to him. After all, since he was bigger he was much better in close combat.

It seemed the dirty dark was beginning to fight seriously. He had all his defenses set and seemed to be awaiting the attack. It must have been a trap. Gertrude continued on, however, and right when he thought the bird would dodge, it didn't. Gertrude's headgem cut Krakarak, catching some of his blood on the top curve of the gem. The other cried out and the prince pigeon let out one hard, sharp laugh. He had done it! The enemy would surely fall now!

Or not.

The other bird came back with a vengeance. It tackled him with its right shoulder smashing into his left shoulder, toppling him to the ground and earning Gertrude a nice moderate bruise on his chest. The littler bird hit the ground with a thud. Other might be bigger and more forceful than him in close combat, but little Prince Charmbirb Gertrude was faster and more agile.

The little bird attempted to right himself quickly, keeping his feathers fluffed and his neck tucked while his eyes scrunched. Wasting no time, the prince pigeon aimed to launch himself close to the ground at Krakarak's left ankle once more. He sought to clamp his upper beak on the inside on the leg, while his lower beak aimed to grip onto Krakarak's outer ankle. With this positioning, Gertrude would attempt to crunch down with his gem-sharpened beak, seeking to cut or even break and sever the bird's prized leg.

Krakarak felt his shoulder connect with the smaller bird's body, or his shoulder to be more accurate. The little one crashed to the ground and Krakarak felt a moment of triumph. He now aimed to leap on top of the bird and slash him all across the chest but he couldn't! With the smaller size came speed and the gem-face was back up on his feet before Krakarak could get a good attack in. In fact, with the bird's speediness Krak was unable to dodge away from the other's counterattack.

He saw the move coming but before he could react in time and pull his foot away the bird was there. He felt the beak clamp onto his foot like a vice around his foot and ankle. In alarm the bird gave a screech, pain seared through his left foot and ankle as he attempted to shake the bird off. He had to get this thing off! If he didn't he would surely lose the limb. In a panic he noticed the bird's wings. He couldn't very well protect them and bite all at the same time could he? Could he?! Not giving himself a chance to think about it Krakarak dove his beak downwards and towards the pigeon's back in an attempt to bite behind the bird's left shoulder at the joint where the wing attached. Hopefully he could cause more damage to the area he was sure he already bruised up badly. If he got a hold to that joint he would not let go and with his bigger beak he was certain to do more damage if he held on.

While he attempted this bite he tried to scratch at the bird with his other leg, claws bared to try and distract the bird enough to get him off if his biting plan failed. Throughout this his feathers remained puffed up while his eyes still narrowed to keep them protected.

Yes! He had it! He had gotten the leg and it was now his! Could one creature steal another creature's gem? The prince bird wondered for a moment, then decided he wanted this bird's gem! He would have it, no doubt about that! The leg could come with it and he would worry about separating the two once the actual fight was over and all the stupid dumb dull bird could do was fly and hop on one foot.

The other bird tried to scratch him and get him off, but to no avail. The prince pigeon was set on not going anywhere and this big gross seemed to be in a panic. Could prince Charmbirb Gertrude actually win this? He tried not to get his hopes up, but they were already sky high, through the cave roof, along with his ego. Of course he would win against this peasant bird! He was a real prince, unlike this faker!

To win, all Gertrude had to do was get the leg off the imbecile and escape. the escape wouldn't be hard if the stupid couldn't run. The little prince aimed to curl himself into a ball, tucking his wings and head tightly and pulling his shoulders up for protection as he fluffed out his feathers. He aimed to kick out onto the ground and twist himself around so that his top beak would face downwards, seeking to use this clockwise momentum to cut the leg deeper or break it off. Since he was near a joint, it wouldn't be such a hard task to break the leg. Breaking the leg off, however, might prove more difficult.

The pain! There was so much! Krakarak called out in agony as his move failed and he couldn't get hold on the bird with his more defensive position. He felt like the leg was already coming off! He continued to try and scratched at the bird with his other foot but it was doing nothing. Nothing at all and it was excruciating! The bird twisted himself around and tried to pull it off but it was during that motion that Krakarak felt his escape. While the other tried to maim him Krakarak pulled with all of his might and managed to free his foot! He was free!

Before the bird got any other ideas Krakarak used his wings to take off. He was certain he couldn't put any weight on that foot right now, it was in a lot of pain with bruising and cuts all along it. His wings were fine though and he planned to put them to use.

Once he was off in the air Krakarak flew upwards, it might have looked like he was escaping but that was far from Krakarak's mind. He flew a few circles up in the air to build speed then he dove downwards towards the smaller bird. With his large beak the bird was hoping to spear him right through his abdomen or anywhere else that he could spear. Back, stomach, wing, neck, he didn't care! So long as it was something! He wanted the small bird to pay for doing such damage to his beautiful foot!

While diving towards the pigeon Krakarak kept his body rigid an dlocked so that he wouldn't hurt himself in the attack. His eyes were narrowed and his legs were tucked underneath him so that he didn't leave them open to be grabbed.

The bird's beak clipped the air with an audible clack. At first, Gertrude thought he had snapped his opponent's foot clean off, but as the other took off, Prince Charmbirb could see that the foot was still very attached. That meant he lost his grip! The pigeon prince let out an angry cry as the opponent began to fly away. The coward! How dare he run away from a fight?! On second though, yeah, run away, run to the real prince.

Only, he wasn't running.

Th bird circled and it angered Gertrude. He could fly too! Well, maybe not good, but he could fly. The little bird would hop a few times before taking off in an unsteady flight, fluffing his feathers and tucking his head instinctively as he did so. This was good! Of course he could fly! He was a bird! Of course he could-

Gertrude was so involved in trying to fly, he didn't see the other bird had finished his circles and was now right in front of him. The bird's beak struck hard against the upper left of the prince's chest. He squawked in surprise as the bird's beak broke skin, drawing blood. If he had been on the ground, the beak would have driven deeper, but being in flight softened the blow as both birds plummeted towards the ground. Though the actual damage was moderate, it wouldn't have lasting effects. It would, however, stop Gertrude from being able to fly momentarily. He panicked; they were going to hit the ground!

If he was going to hit the ground, he was going to take this dumb along with him. With his head still tucked, Gertrude aimed to bite down on the hollow bone sprouting from Krakarak's left shoulder, right above the shoulder. He aimed to use his gem beak on the back side of the wing while his lower jaw sought to clamp on the front of the limb. If he could bite down hard enough, the hollow bone would snap, leaving both birds to tumble helplessly into the ground.

His beak met its mark, piercing into the dove's shoulder, drawing blood. Krakarak could taste the saltiness of it on his tongue. Satisfaction coursed through his body but the blow wasn't as hard as he wanted. That was probably due to the fact that the smaller bird had lifted up into the air, slowly lifted into the air but he was there. However, the small bird was at Krak's mercy since he was the one controlling the flight. The raven croaked angrily while he attempted to shake himself to get the other bird off.

The attempt failed and the dove latched onto his shoulder, biting down. It drew a little blood but wouldn't cause any lasting effects. In fact, he was certain he could dislodge the bird with ease. The raven momentarily ignored the pain as he pumped his wings harder, taking both of them up into the air and holding them up a few more feet. Then he gave himself a shake, scratching at the bird with his rear leg in an attempt to free himself and perhaps get a little more damage off if the stupid gem-face fell to the ground without righting himself.

Freed of his charge the raven called down to the bird, "STUPID MISSHAPEN GEM-FACE! IF KRAKARAK EVER SEE YOU AGAIN HE RIP YOU APART! NO GETTING OFF SO EASY SECOND TIME! KRAW!" He yelled down angrily. Never mind that he had a bruised and bloodied and pretty much useless foot and a bleeding slash on his stomach, he still felt that he'd one and beaten his point into the bird. Time to scram while the getting was good.

In all reality he wasn't up for another brawl and was more than content to let the stupid bird lie there and limb home while he flew.

He bit the other bird. He was sure they were going to fall together. Gertrude was going to take the ugly dumb with him and they would both crash and that was fine with the Pigeon Prince. Only, he was wrong. When Krakarak jostled, the little pigeon was knocked free. He was falling and he couldn't help himself. He could feel it inside of himself that it wasn't supposed to be like this. He wasn't supposed to fall. He was a bird! He was a prince bird! Gertrude struggled to flap, though the pain in his left chest kept him from doing so enough to fly. He was able to flop around and slow his decent well enough, but he still hit the ground with a light, dull thud.

In his blurring vision, Gertrude saw the other bird fly off. Under his breath, he would curse the dull bird. He would find this one again, and when he did, he would get that stone. He would defeat the bird. He would make the bird bow down before him and HE WOULD REIGN SUPREME! These last thoughts echoed loudly in the pigeon prince's head even in his last moments of consciousness. the next few minutes would go by as if the bird were asleep. Even once he finally roused, he wasn't fully aware of himself. The young fledgling staggered off to find shelter to recover from the fight. He may have lost this time, but next time, he was sure he would win.
