I am notorious for tinkering with character pages and have collected a few suggestions.

A. Could the character limit for the Postlog field be made longer? Instead of making a postlog thread, I've taken to using that actual area as a sort of postlog but... I've hit a character limit. Could the option be made available to use that as a postlog, as opposed to creating a thread for those that would like to?

B. This one might be more questionable BUT. I was wondering if id/classes could be attached to the structure of the character account page? Doing so will allow someone like me to customize more of the page and potentially make a shop where we do so for others.

Atlas - 1. We could probably do that! Because the field is just intended to be a link, it'll stay just a single line text input, but I can increase the character limit to allow more text. I'll get back to you on that when I do. 2. We're actually planning on introducing a (whispers) custom profile field so hold tight! :>

I have the MOST DIFFICULT TIME reading through all threads and knowing what's going on with what character. Especially after I leave for a weekend and come back. I'm suggesting like a bulletin or maybe a page with a shout box (that might look tacky though, idk) that describes cave events in a lil more detail, could be used for a history of the cave thing too. A list of all (COMPLETED, so it doesn't have to be updated as frequently) threads and a summary of what happens inside it. Ideally be submitted by the thread starter so no mods have to update it themselves and it'd automagically show on the list.

A huge post log for the entirety of the forum. I can whip up a table format to show you what I mean. As for the php stuff idk how xD It'd have thread name, participants, day started (so we know what day the event happened on), location, then a blurb about what happened.

The order things appear on the list will be sorted by date of what happened most recently (by date started) showing on top.

Just a suggestion, I know it'd help me a lot but who knows if it'll be useful to others too to keep track of their characters against others in the timeline. x)

^ That would be a REALLY COOL thing to have, but yeah, it would require all members to basically be on the ball and update it. I mean, threads that I personally consider important, I mention in the cave report in the news but its always possible that I miss threads :P I like this idea, but it'll take some thinking!

I suggest linking up the Magicka market thread (where you have to manually post) to the bolded Magicka tab conveniently placed at the top of the website (/newpoints.php?action=shop). It can take the form of one of the tabs on the left e.g. name it "Market" beneath "Shop" and above "My Spells". It'll be much more convenient for players! (:

Hey Quix, I already badgered Mads about it, and she'll probably do it later on. :P

Please tag me when it is my turn in threads!

If I have not replied to a thread in a week, feel free to skip me!

If you'd like me to use a different table in a thread
just let me know!

^ Just implemented it! Clicking "Update" should give you a dropdown with options to click Update Me! or Magicka Market.

Restrictions / ban of selling your art for magicka. Is it really fair that select users can amass hundreds of magicka based off their skill of art? Because that magicka is usually used for their characters's spells. Those members therefor can more quickly dominate shit when it should maybe be based off how... long??? a character's been living / making posts. Specially since a character that is like a week old can have like 6 spells already just from passing magicka on to other accounts. I mean, I could sell my own art and (maybe) people would pay but I feel like I'm cheating when I do that.

*SHRUG*

I can see it possibly frustrating some users who have to put a lot of work and effort into their threads to make money to gain spells.

hello.

^^ I half agree, half disagree with this for various reasons.

Pros to Selling Art for Magicka (and why it could be fair);

• While artists are spending time on their art, they're not posting to threads. Non-artists can focus entirely on threads and get more posts in as a result. Every piece an artist draws takes away time and muse that could be spent on threads. Considering the average piece takes about three hours, and in that time, the average active member can post six times- that makes the ratio 20/30, with 30 being the income for the poster, and 20 being the average for the minimal cost of art. In the time it takes to draw, the artist may take breaks to do a post or two- likewise, non-artists could put more effort into contests and the like to earn more magicka than the busy artist might be willing to attempt. (That's a personal one, there- my art often discourages me from joining event or contest sprees.)

◘ Note for those non-artists; As an artist, giving out free art isn't like passing out cookies and drinks at a party. It's real work, real effort. Just as you put hard work and effort into your threads, we put hard work and effort into the art we do.

CONS of Paid Studios;

• Like you said, it does provide an unfair advantage to some artists who can crank out a hundred pieces in one sitting, and still have time to post at the end of the day or between requests.

• Some artists only provide easier, quick manips or 20 minute doodles and ask for the same amount as the average one hour detail piece.

SOLUTIONS:

• One possible solution would be to set a price range that the whole site would follow. It would be based on what the piece includes- Sketch, Mini, Linework, Flat Color, Avatar (bust), Avatar (full body), Basic Manip (1-2 stock photos used, minimal painting), Advanced Manip (3+ Stock Photos used with Stylistic painting or overlay effects), Reference sheets, etc. I'd even be willing to help staff figure out a fair price range and guide for it, if that's a problem.

• Another solution could be to end player payments altogether, and switch it to what some boards do, with turn-in payments only. That'd be where the artist finishes so many requests for free, and can turn them in to the maintenance thread for a set amount of magicka each time. That way, their efforts are still repaid, but there's no chance for price variances making some artists more funded than others.

• Removing paid art altogether could solve the unfair advantage, but would discourage artists from having studios to begin with. If everyone is okay with losing out on possible art for their character because of this, then it'd be a solution, but otherwise, it may present an unfair advantage to the artists that DO still have studios- they'd be sacrificing time for posting in order to provide a service for the site's members, without any sort of repayment.
