Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.

Beyond, the sound of Rainbow Spinners singing; but here, the quiet crunch of many teeth on leaves. It was hard to get a sense of this creature's scale, as it came into view; the tangled jungle had plants of such varying sizes. But it seemed to be anywhere from a foot long to seven or eight: thick-bodied, wriggling its way along the soil.

It was... grub-like, or perhaps caterpillar; bioluminescent streaks and spots flashed dimly, a slow pulse, as if to express its contentment--or perhaps give some other form of signal. Two eyes on long eye-stalks swivelled, keeping watch for danger and for food. Its hide, with light and skin both, was a riot of colors: bright yellows, flaming orange, blinding hot pink, a rich bright violet, and light, gleaming blue.

One of the Spinners landed before it, peering, chirping, singing to it. The glowing caterpillar-creature slowly lifted its head to regard it--and then, in a sudden lunge and an unpleasant flash of lamprey-like maw, consumed it.

The singing stopped.

Comet jumped when the lemur squeaked in fear. So this was a scary stone, she almost didn't want to know what animal she had seen. But of course, curiosity overtook her, and she listened carefully to Abra describe what she had seen.

"I didn't know a caterpillar was big enough to eat a bird." That meant it must've been a HUGE caterpillar. And the fact that it was fast enough to catch a bird scared her. She couldn't catch birds herself sometimes. And caterpillars were herbivores-- this one was not. Seeing how scared the lemur was of the stone, Comet decided not to do anymore. "I think that's enough. I don't want to scare you anymore."

But that was when Comet got an idea. "If you touch my stone, would you be able to see my memories? Want to try?" she was completely okay with the idea of the lemur seeing her memories, she had nothing to hide after all.

Abra had gotten over the vision from the stone, for the most part, though they glanced over at it as if the stone itself could reach out and bite them. Abra hadn't know such creatures existed, or could have existed, in the caves, and they were glad they hadn't met any like that, yet.

However, when Comet suggested looking into HER stone, her eyes lit up both with curiosity and excitement to test her skills. "Sure, I can try that!" She bounded forward a bit, briefly pausing to rebalance as her gemstone 'hat' caused her to become top-heavy. She reached forward, very carefully touching Comet's ear with her hand. This time, they couldn't think of anything to say to 'activate' the spell, they just carefully reached into Comet's stone with their magic and hoped it'd still work all the same.

But, nothing happened.

Maybe they HAD to speak, in order for their magic to work? "I'm sorry, It didn't work." They said apologetically, stepping back a pace or so. "I can try again if you'd like! I don't think I did it right, this time." Their tail swayed behind them somewhat anxiously, waiting for Comet's response. They had failed a spell RIGHT in front of someone- how embarrassing!

"That's all right! I fail spells all the time, and you managed to get it to work on all those stones!" Comet knew that it wasn't easy to get a spell to work so many times in a row! She made some bubbles, which always helped her calm down and succeed in casting her next spell. The small spheres of water floated around pleasingly, and she popped one or two.

"One more try?" If this didn't work, the pup wasn't going to keep pushing. After all the lemur must be tired.

Abra gave a Comet a small smile, a smile with widened into something a little more genuine when Comet created bubbled with her magic. She couldn't help pop one or two herself, before turning back into the task at hand- seeing into Comet's stone.

"I'll try until I get it right!" Abra grinned with renewed determination. She refused to leave a job half-finished- even if she was rather tired from using her magic so much in such a short period. A couple more tries wouldn't hurt, right?

Once again, she gently placed her hand on Comet's gemstone ear. This time, she did speak- it seemed to be an important part of the spell, or at the very least, helped her focus. "Alright, lets see a place you've been." Abra murmered quietly- mainly to herself, though it was likely the wolf pup heard as well.

"Oh! This place is very green!" Was Abra's first observation. Since she rarely really left Polaris, such a place was rather fascinating. She fell silent as the rest of the vision played out, only speaking once it was over. "You were in a garden! Planting a fuzzy fruit!" She grinned, "I couldn't quite see who you were with though, but you all seemed happy!"

A tail, wagging side to side; a constant rhythm of thump-thump-thump! as Abracadabra - no, Comet sat. "I don't know; but, I do it when I am happy," called her voice, even more youthful than it was now. She turned her head back to gaze at something, and the image smeared into the lush green of a well-tended garden.

A rather large tree stood over the primate offering a plump fruit. It was fuzzy and shaped somewhat like a peach, but they weren't quite right. The wolf liked it anyways, and that drew a muffled, "yes! That’s such a good idea!" from what appeared to be her friend. No matter how Abra tried, the hindsight skipped like a record: it flickered past either Gembound planting the pit; their eagerness to grow this little sapling; and their resulting being pressed against one another in sleep.

It was a rather sweet vision.

Garden... fuzzy fruit... planting... "Oh, that must be when I planted the seed with Sun!" Comet smiled, recalling that happy memory. Yes... that was a happy time. She had to brief thought of asking Abra to do that again, but she didn't. She did not want to tire her out too much, so she just smiled.

"Hey, who do you live with?" Comet asked, this memory brought up the question. She wondered if this lemur had a family like her's.

"Sun? They sound nice!" She replied, her tail tip curling much like a squirrel's would. "Did you guys grow all those plants yourselves? I don't think I've ever seen so many plants in one spot!"

"Oh, Um." She paused for a moment, thinking. She never really thought about this sort of stuff. She had what was more or less a home- a small nook in the wall with a nest and a small spot to keep her stuff- but she'd rather explore than stay stuck in one spot. "I live on my own, I guess? Unless you count Catafay and Bowie, they're my friends!" She replied, smiling. "I guess you live with Sun, right? It looks nice!"

"Yeah, he is." Comet smiled, thinking of all the times that she played with Sun, and all the fun things that they did together. At the mention of plants, she perked up a bit more. "Daddy grew all those plants! He's very good at plant magic! He even grow yummy fruits for us to eat."

Abra's pause makes Comet think that she had asked a bad question for a moment, but a second later the lemur replied with a smile. "I do that sometimes! Sometimes I go off by myself for a bit. But never longer than one or two days." It was hard for her to imagine what it would be like to live by yourself forever though. "Yeah I do! He's the bestest brother ever!" With a smile on her face, she looked up at the cave ceiling. "It's getting a bit late." The lights were noticeably dimmer than before.

"Plant magic?" She tilted her head slightly, intrigued. She'd only ever really done magic-magic, but there were certainly other kinds of magic- could she learn them too? She'd certainly have to try- any kind of magic was magic worth learning, after all!

"Oh, cool!" She replied, "I like exploring too! I've never been very far from Polaris, though." Maybe she should change that? There ought to be other fun places to explore! Maybe she could find cool things there- like this copious amount of weird rocks! "Oh yeah, it is kinda late." She replied, suddenly realizing how tired she was. Did Comet have to leave? It seemed like she had house to get home to, at the very least."That was fun! We should do it again sometime- I can do magic other than that, of course!" The lemur grinned at the thought of showing off her magic, "It sounds like you have a place to go home to, though, and I wanna show my friends this rock!" She pause a moment to see if the wolf pup had anything more to say- and if not, she'd bound off in search of her friends.
