Sair

The lights had dulled and brightened a few times since Sair's awakening, and much to the worn foal's dismay, most of it had been spent running.
Sair was born an equal distance between two tunnels, and it wasn't long before they had begun to wonder what else there was to the world. The spire was beautiful and strong, and Sair did spend a long time staring at it, but to be honest, what fun was there in just staring? Any attempt to touch the thing hurt, so what else was there to do?
And so, the metaphorical coin was tossed, and Sair set off...
To Ursa.
During one of it's coldest cycles.
Between the running, both to keep warm and to get through the horrid place as fast as possible, and the hiding between snow banks to catch their breath and hide from the wind, Sair was drained. It was a wonder they survived the ordeal considering the state they were in now, huddled between bushes of beautiful greenery panting heavily and twitching from the cold. Frost had bitten them deeply, leaving their nose running and eyes swollen. Their skin burned.
Cold. Again. Hate cold.
Even though the foal's thoughts were still simple and slow to form, their hatred for the cold was anything but, and it burned hotter with each passing moment.

The sound of large wings soaring would announce Fulgur's presence long before his massive form passed overhead, trailed by his numerous smaller companions. In truth, he might have missed Sair, if they weren't stumbling around in a cold-induced daze, and mostly dark-furred amongst the snow blown down the tunnel they'd came from.

He'd bank around, slowing to land on his wings a short distance in front of Sair. His expression is concerned, as he calls out, "Are you alright? You don't look so well."

Looking up and down the little foal, Fulgur ponders, What happened to her eyes and nose? Was it the cold in Ursa? The tunnel is right here, that has to be it...

Sair

Sair didn't pay much attention to the sounds from above, not that they could have made anything out of the blobs they saw through squinted eyes anyway. They just needed to catch their breath, and then they could enjoy the views this new cave had to offer. Then they could find somewhere warm.

When the newcomer spoke, Sair finally made an effort to try and lift their head.
"I... hate... cold." Was their response, words forced out between panting breaths. They tried to point their nose toward the tunnel they had burst from a few minutes prior, but it was a subtle motion.
"Just need... breath." They tried to offer, settling their head back on the ground.

The foal was clearly unafraid, be it due to their lack of energy or the idea that they might not know how dangerous the cold could truly be. The size of the creature in front of them caused them no discomfort after having met something as large as Juggernaut upon hatching, and should the foal have been able top open their eyes fully, they likely would have been more interested in the fact that Fulgur wasn't feathered like the other had been.

"Speaking." Thinking. Doing.

If there's one thing Fulgur is glad to see, is that she didn't spook and run off. But with how strained it is for Sair to speak, he wonders if she'd even get very far. At least she's awake enough to tell him what's wrong.

Either way, it would probably be best to warm her up somehow. His first instinct would have been to just wrap a wing around her, but they're smooth hide and wouldn't do much but shelter from the wind. Better than nothing, be he'd rather do more than that.

Looking around, he spots a pile of Hellswan molt not far away. The downy feathers would definitely be warmer than his skin. He sweeps up a bunch with a wing, before wrapping it and the feathers around the young foal. "Is that better?" Fulgur asks in a concerned tone. His paternal instincts have definitely overtaken him.

Sair

Sair wasted no time, snuggling as best they could under the feathers and hide. The feathers had been chilled from sitting on the cave floor, but they were insulating and soft. They'd provide shelter enough to regain some warmth and calm their legs, still twitching in an attempt to keep their blood flowing through constricted veins.
"Much. Th-ank you." The foal's voice was the weak squeak of youth, barely-learned words with strange pronunciations.

They strained their neck, reaching around to wipe their eyes clear so the stranger would be less of a blurry blueish and pink blob. When they turned back, they were very surprised to see the creature was flocked by many smaller ones, some of which sat... in his ribcage? That couldn't be comfortable.
They supposed the little things had to be friendly, as did the stranger. After all, why else would they be buried comfortably in a pile of feathers? They did wonder why, though. Would they have done the same for a passerby? Juggernaut had been more hands-off. Hands, hooves, paws, limbs... Sair still wasn't quite sure what to call their appendages.

Sair focused again, trying to distract themself with conversation, "I'm Ssair. Who are you and... friends?" The foal tried to catch their eye, ears swivelling towards the chatter of the flock.

"Speaking." Thinking. Doing.

The sight of the small foal snuggling in under his wings warms Fulgur's heart. His already strong parental instincts have taken him over now, and he finds himself unable to do anything but protect Sair.

"You are welcome," he tells her, his voice a deep but soothing rumble. He moves slowly, in order to keep the foal calm. Six pink eyes blink, looking into hers. At least she seems to be warming up.

His gaze follows hers, when she looks to his companions as they mill about. "Ah, call me Fulgur. And these are my Flock," he explains. "They're... like my little helpers."

Sair

The foal's eyes were brighter now, and their teeth chattered less and less as the moments stretched on. "Help is good. Friends are good." They were a lucky one, for the few creatures they had met so far had proved much kinder than a predator could have been.
Twisting around to wiggle a hoof free, Sair stretched out towards the collection of strange creatures. Would they be her friend too?
"I was... Exploring!" They added, pausing to chew on air for a moment as if to pull the word off their tongue. They were still new to the world, but thankfully not being on the verge of death left her with more room to actually think rather than act.
"Why are you here? Do you like to explore?" Perhaps they had found themself some company, if only for a while. If it was enough to get her out of this cold, she would be happy.

"Speaking." Thinking. Doing.

He smiles at Sair ensconced underneath his wings, pink eyes warm with gentle encouragement. "Ah, yes, exploring! These caves are very big, and there is a lot to see." One of Fulgur's little Flock flutters closer to her lifted hoof, curious.

"I like exploring myself. I go to the different caves to find stories, and tell them to others. But in this cave is someone I like to help. They're known as the Tailor, and they made this bag for me," he explains, shifting to show it. "Maybe we can ask them to make them something to keep you warm!"

Sair

Sair listened intently, curious at the ideas of stories and crafts alike. "What kind of stories?" She asked first, careful not to move her outstretched hoof and potentially scare one of the Flock away. "The Tailor? Can I be The Sair? She giggled, just elated at The Idea. The thought sent her into another giggle fit, seemingly at nothing.
"I'd like to meet them!" She finally said between caught breaths. "What caves have you been to? Which one are they in? Can they make other things? I don't think I could move if I was in a bag, however warm!" Now that they were warm enough to speak reliably, it seemed that the foal would not go quiet again, voicing every question that crossed her mind the instant it formed. They were comfortable now, and happy, so there was only one need left to fill; They wanted to know everything.

"Speaking." Thinking. Doing.

A good hearty laugh echos from Fulgur's throat as little Sair becomes enraptured. "Sure, you can be THE Sair," he tells her, pink eyes shining. It is so good to see this little one so much more alive.

"Well, the Tailor isn't far from here, she's just in the palace on the other side of this cave. We can go now, if you feel confident enough to walk." A wing gestures in the direction, of white stone on the far side of green gardens. "She can make things will all sorts of fabric and leather. I was more thinking of putting you in a cloak, than a bag!" he chuckles, her last comment especially amusing.

He'd pull away some - not completely, in case she enjoyed being under his wings - so she could stand up if she wished.
