It's in private just in case that's how Alm wants it. Ask her if you're interested in joining.

For as long as she could remember the soft drumming of a similar heartbeat to her own had strummed soothingly next to her. Lulling her into a peaceful world of dreams of things that her mind chose to create. Yet now something felt different. Her own heartbeat had grown stronger, louder than the other. It stirred her from her slumber as a strange sensation of panic began to arise within her chest. The sensation put her at unease and she began to move, her legs attempting to stretch against the confines of the chrysalis that had seemed to shrink around her. Desperately she tried to listen for the other heart beat, the one that strummed nigh exactly as her own, but she just could not hear it over her own frantically beating heart. She struggled even more, tossing and kicking, trying to move around in the space she had outgrown. Before she knew it a sharp crack echoed loudly in her chrysalis chamber.

The chrysalis shattered, spilling out its contents as the young hybrid tumbled onto the ground covered in goop and surrounded by the sharp shards of her now shattered chrysalis. Not a word or sound was made from her as she lay there frozen, ears errect and listening. A sharp intake of air rushed into her lungs as her head began to tingle, the small turquoise nubs on her cheeks suddenly gave a bright flash and within moments, not just one, but many heartbeats she could feel. The little cub heaved for breathe as she was quickly overwhelmed by all the sensations. Though, it wasn't long before a more familiar one was heard. Strumming loud and soothingly and the hybrid peeled her stunning blue eyes open and looked towards it.

A gem sat against the remains of a shattered chrysalis and the cub knew it, not because she had seen it before, but because she had heard it since she could remember. She struggled to move closer, tiny claws gripping at the ground to help drag her along and before she knew it she was tucked and curled up against the multicolored chrysalis. A soft purring began in her chest as her eyelids fluttered shut. All the other heart beats she had felt were washed away by this single heartbeat. Her sister. She was still here and for a moment the little hybrid did nothing but remain there listening to her heartbeat.

No one may post until we've had a chance to bring Amaria, Cancer and invite @Bevy in!

Her world was darkness and sound. Voices, some big and bold, like rushing air. Others, soft and sweet, gentler. She had come to know these voices, had come to know their names. Father. Mother. Aunt. Her family. What was a family? She couldn't understand such complex things yet- but there was one sound, familiar, that she hadn't given a name to. Her sister's hushed, rapid heartbeat. She had come to know a word to call it- Home. Safe and familiar, her sister was what made a place Home. Inside her chrysalis, Remedy shifted.

A splitting sound beside her, against her. Suddenly, that familiar heartbeat was replaced by rushing air and empty space. Void. Remedy stirred, opening delicate green and red eyes for the first time, in hopes of seeing what had become of her familiar pulse. Movement outside her shell. She had seen such things before, as her body had formed and developed, but now she understood what it meant. A pressing sensation, like warmth against the cold glassy shell. Her sister. That familiar pulse. She could feel it again. She wanted to be near it again, to feel those beating tones first hand.

Again, she pushed...

...and this time, as hind paws pressed harder against brittle glass, Remedy found the walls shifted. A groan, a shattering sound, and her world gave way. The hybrid toppled out of her protective case and onto the floor beside her sister. With a gasp, Remedy learned her first lesson about the world- wide open spaces were cold! A peeping sound escaped her beak and she pushed up from the ground, wet premature feathers covering clumsy wings floundering about as she fought to find her balance. Then, she spotted the familiar pulse. My sister. A name. A face. Not like her own, but still so familiar. Remedy stumbled closer, and with a wag from her stumpy tail, let loose an unearthly squawk to say hello.

Amaria

You fell away,
What more can I say?
The feelings evolved,
I won't let it out,
I can't replace...
Your screaming face,
Feeling the sickness inside

A heavy sigh escaped the feline as her scaled paws slowly carried her back. It had been awhile since her rebirth, long enough to where her body no longer ached for hours on end. However, the oddities she now attained was still something she was trying to get used to. The scales over the top of each paw that carried her on her way. It wasn't that she disliked the change more so than she was just not used to them yet. Her tail was far heavier than her old one had been, the thick girth tended to make it just a tad different on how she would normally balance herself. She definitely had to be far more careful with how she smacked the appendage against things as it was also far stronger than her old one. A soft, amused laugh escaped the hybrid clouded and soon the feline brought her gaze up to look towards the throne that sat not far from where she was.

She slowed to a stop and simply observed its ever looming presence. Though Orion was not truly her home, for she was unsure of where home really was, she held a lot of memories at that particular spot. From Cancer accidentally fracturing her ribs, to the moment they escaped the Pit and took rest upon the seat, all the way to the moment her child was created. Her tail swayed behind her with her thoughts and soon she was able to shake her thoughts away and begin her way towards the Chrysali that lay hidden behind the throne. Her gate was at an leisure pace, but at the sudden sound of something shattering her breath hitched in her throat.

It didn't take long before her legs moved on their own accord and she was sprinting the rest of the way up towards the throne. A flash erupted from her tail, a surge of magic caused by the sudden rise of anxiety and panic and just as she managed to get up to the throne a sudden agonized pain shot right through her chest. A roar of pain was ripped from her as her paws stumbled, causing her to hit into the side of the throne. The pain caused her vision to go dark before it seemed like a bright flash of light blinded her and she had to clench her eyes shut. Ears pinned back against her skull as she remained pressed against the side of the throne, trying to regain her bearings.

It wasn't long before the pain subsided and she could find herself breathing easier than moments before. With a sharp shake of her head, Amaria peeled her eyes open and she hurried herself on. Dropping back behind the Throne and to where the two Chrysalis had been left to grow. Her heart beat wildly against her chest as she came upon the scene. Shards of both turquoise and ammolite scattered across the stone floor. Slowly she stepped through the mess of shards and liquid goop that came from within the Chrysali. It wasn't long before she saw first the crimson painted ebony body that undoubtedly belonged to Bevvy. She was beautiful, there was no doubt in it and Amaria felt her chest swell with awe. Those two had truly created a creature of beauty.

She took a second long to look the small hybrid over before she finally turned her gaze towards the other hybrid that lay curled at the base of the shattered ammolite. Her heart fluttered and she felt the beginnings of tears starting to form in her eyes. Her smooth charcoal fur, made darker by the liquid that still covered her shivering form. Rounded ears that definitely inherited from her father, and the markings that would have been passed down from her. She slowly approached them, a deep purr resonating in her chest as she took no hesitance to lay down upon her belly and wrap around both of them protectively. Not at all concerned about if the hybrid gryphon would carry the poison her mother's feather's carried, she nuzzled each of them just as affectionately as the other.

"Hello...little ones" She purred softly, her voice soothing and warm. She didn't give them time to protest as she easily began cleaning the goo from their fur and feathers, moving from one hybrid to the next and repeating until she knew for certain their coats were clean of the goo. Her heart still beat wildly against her chest as she rose her head and quickly looked around. Cancer. Where was Cancer! He had to be close. He had to come see his children. And Bevy! Bevy would need to be told her child was awake as well.

Carcino had gone hunting. He'd scoured all over Eridanus until he'd found himself a satisfactory meal- a fat fawn, spoiled in its youthful foraging. It hung pitifully from his mouth as he made his return to Orion, quickly as he could dragging eighty pounds or so of dead weight, anyway. He'd memorized these tunnels long ago, so as he came up to Orion's entrance, his gaze instinctively went towards the red walled shelter he'd set for his growing twins- except now, he saw only red. No green, no blue. Panic welled in his chest and he picked up the pace, carcass leaving a bloody trail from where he'd rubbed it raw against the stone floor.

A familiar scent reached him first. Amaria. Good, she was here. Maybe it wasn't so bad. Maybe...

New scents. Familiar, but new. He paused, confused. Then, Amaria's gentle voice. Little ones? They've emerged! He fought to keep hold of the carcass as he closed the space between himself and the heart-wrenching scene that awaited him.

Two more steps and around the corner, the walls of crumbled stone revealed a sight he'd dreamt about in the days leading up to now. The cat dropped his kill, silent and humbled, awed. Amaria crouched with both dampened youth at her chest, all three the vision of perfection. Carce felt his back legs buckle and he closed the final few feet, coming to sit before the three, close enough that he easily reached to bump heads with Amaria the moment he could.

Without a word, he looked down at the pair. One bore blue horns, the first born by her dryer coat of charcoal and mud-brown spots. Tiny buds of horns, all blue, surrounded her face. Amaria's daughter, to be sure. All cat. Beautiful. The other, smaller, more awkwardly built, was shaped first like a bird, then like a cat. For a moment, Carcino felt a stir in his chest, like discomfort. Her front half was mishapen in a way, at least to his instinctive eye. The head and front legs like a bird, like Bevy- beautiful, but strange, new. Ears and horns like candy apple spikes from her head, the bunched back end of a cub- like he'd been- but with feathers sprouting from the base of her tail. If he weren't sentient, in that moment, he might've rejected her.

Instead, as he gazed down at his two newborn daughters, Carcino fell absolutely in love.

"...wow." Was all he could manage, teary-eyed and breathless. Instead of speaking, he placed a gentle paw on one of Amaria's, as if bracing himself. He'd never expected any living thing could make him feel so small, so insignificant, so humble, to have created life. This beautiful, wonderful, awesome pair of precious newborns... and they were of his creation.

Maybe... just maybe... he wasn't cursed after all. Maybe some good could come of a cat named Cancer. For the first time in many cycles, Cancer found himself beaming, a grin from ear to ear- nothing could break this perfect happiness.

@Cure @Amaria @Bevy @Leon and now open to anyone else who wants to meet the twins!

Her body trembled, cold from her new surroundings as she continued to huddle against the gemstone her sister was still in as if in an attempt to get warm. It wasn't long before the sound of movement inside the Gem stirred Cure into opening her eyes as she gazed up onto the multicolored gem. When the thing shattered her eyes instantly closed as she froze to her spot and for a moment she remained that way. When a strange squawk caused her ears to swivel up into attention Cure slowly peaked open an eye to see who it was. Almost immediately a large grin spread across her features, baring all her tiny sharp teeth. A purring instantly erupted in her chest and she shuffled up to her paws, wobbled there for a moment, before instantly trying to make her way even closer to her sister. She knew it was her twin. There was no doubt about it. The soft drumming of her heart was the main thing she had listened to during her slumber.

She booped her head against her twin only for her legs to give out and she once against sunk down to the ground. It didn't matter to her at that moment. All she cared about was being next to her sister and cuddling against her. It only felt natural after all. They had been side by side since Cure could ever remember. When a louder, deeper sound suddenly came into her world, Cure was startled enough to look up. Wide sapphire eyes moved up just in time to see a much larger feline suddenly coming at them. She should have been frightened by it, but something else seemed to warm her chest. She came to them, laying down and curling her larger self around them and soon had them positioned protectively between her front legs and near her chest. Cure's grin returned as the feline began to nuzzle both she and her twin before greeting them.

The familiarity of her voice was recognized instantly and Cure instantly leaned her face into Amaria's chest and began purring once again. That was mama. She had heard here voice several times in her slumber. Whispering to them, cooing soft adoration as she awaited them to awaken. Cure nearly giggled when she began to groom at the both of them, happy that she was finally starting to warm up now that she was cuddled into here sister and now her mother.

Another voice came, uttering a single word of awe, and Cure lifted her gaze up. Her eyes met that of amber and slowly she grinned just as much as she had before. She knew his voice too and knew right away. "D...addy~" The word came slowly, Cure still unsure of how to properly use her voice or pronounce correctly. Her tail moved about as she tried to turn from where she was laying. Once she got positioned how she wanted she took no hesitance to try and balance herself on her hind legs while she reached her forelegs out, holding her paws out to try and touch here father's face.

Bevy hadn't wanted to come to Orion. The pitohui bird knew that her child, as Cancer had told her, would be born soon. She knew, but yet, how could she stay away? If the same violence over took her own flesh and blood once more, she had to be there. Ready to help, to heal, to soothe...

To kill.

The thoughts had only gotten worse in the passing days. As soon as Enna took flight from her perch, she felt the pull on her feathers. Something deep and dark within her wanted her to find Teyouma's new form, to destroy it. If she could not stop that, then the voice wanted something else. As she flew on, through the icy tunnel that she navigated without so much as needing to glance down or up, she tried to remind herself. Cancer would be there. Amaria, too, would be there. They wouldn't let her get out of control, they would protect her child.

She just needed to see the child with her own eyes. Once she had done that, she could lay it to rest, finally allow herself a moment of peace. She just had to know that she had not broken another piece of life, that somehow, Cancer's magic had calmed her own toxic stone. Her eyes stung as she broke into the cavern known as Orion, the blinding white light of quartz a familiar, bittersweet sight. She knew where the children would be born.

Her wings tilted, her flight twisting towards the throne without so much as a thought. Before she could catch her own breath, she heard the noises of more than just Cancer and Amaria. A small squeak of a newborn. The bird landed on a ledge, peering down into the shadows where the two proud parents stood over two black kittens-- one splashed with bright, brilliant blue, and the other... Her red. Her glorious crimson plumage, and hints of green flickering in curious eyes and the horns on her head. It was, unmistakably, her child.

Enna's breath caught in her throat, a sob nearly escaping. She pushed back the violent thoughts, and for a great moment, she just stared at the child, waiting for something to go horribly awry.

The pair of newborns were wrapped around each other when one mother arrived. At first, Remedy was afraid of the new shape, all big and dangerous, fur and scales, unfamiliar. Then, the newcomer spoke and Remedy recognized the voice. Ma! This was Ma! She had a Ma! Oh, joyous days, she'd make that soon-to-be trademark keening noise in her throat as Amaria wrapped herself around the pair. Pressed into her new Ma's fur and scales, Remedy's keening got only louder and more excited as another, much more familiar, voice echoed beside them. Pa! This was Pa! He came close, but didn't touch either cub yet. Then, Cure was moving again. Remedy watched with bleary vision as her twin toddled over and announced their Pa as Daddy. That word was okay, but Remedy didn't think she could make those sounds. She wasn't sure she could make any sound yet, besides the squeaks and keening noise she made now.

A flutter of wings, barely audible, drew Remedy's attention upwards. It took her a moment to spot it, the little red and black shape on the rocks, but the moment she saw the bird, Remedy couldn't look away. She stared up at the tiny shape, a blurry mix of red and black and green, as if anticipating something to happen. Trying to make sense of it. Whatever that shape was, it was familiar but not like Ma and Pa were. This one was a different kind of recognition. Like, something she knew from her dreams in the shell.

"Meem! Meeemaaaaah! Meeeemmmaaah!" She began to cry, as if to alert the others to the new presence. She didn't sound scared, or upset- simply excited. There were so many things to be excited about!

... But nothing bad happened. Instead, the small red and black child peered up at her, and started mewling, desperate and excited. The child knew her own mother-- this one wasn't sick like her first. She stared at it, a lump in her throat, fighting back the sick emotions.

Enna, we must kill it. It will take our place and poison them from the inside. Everyone you love will die at this monstrosities' paws if you do not take the chance now, while it is weak.

"Shut up," Enna breathed, trembling as the voice in her head grew more violent, more angry. You are a fool! Kill it! What are you waiting for? Enna, destroy it! She could feel the bacteria crawl upon her back, her magic twisting and her gem glistening a pale green, just for a moment. The monster inside her heart tried to reach out to her child and she fought it back, shaking with the effort. Destroy it now before it kills us all! You're a coward, a pathetic, useless coward and you're going to rot the caves from the inside out! "SHUT UP!" The bird screeched, spreading her wings.

In an instant, she could feel all eyes upon her, and she twisted and turned, sweeping away from the stone buildings and her child. She had to get away.

You've doomed us all,

The voice breathed down her neck as she raced away, wings carrying her far, far away.

They will never forgive you.

If she could just get away...
