Boredom, stubbornness, and a hidden streak of optimism: these things combined in a little white fuzzball with small wings instead of back legs, making Scarborough unable to dwell in the mires of failure and false starts for long.
His first attempts at using magic to push away the bone-litter that was the obstacle-strewn ground of Canis had not been successful-- and worse, had failed in sight range of someone who proved to be related to him, someone whose opinion automatically he cared about, and who further had proved to be kind and encouraging; he would never admit how mortifying that was. Still, though, the idea flickered in his mind, unable to be ignored, promising him inches more towards the illusion of independence that he hoped to one day achieve. Subsequent attempts had not been so hopeless; the bones had
jumped slightly instead of wiggled, and a few times he'd managed to actually shove them aside with enough room to create a little pathway.
Small victories!
And it was in the spirit of celebration of those small victories-- and, of course, constant practice, because one could only improve with practice (right?) that Scarborough was attempting this again. This time, this morning, it was
working-- he slapped his paw against the ground, and away jumped the bones, as if he were a
proprieter of selective gravity. It was excellent, and even the fact that they didn't move
that far, and only a few of them jumped, creating a relatively short trail-- even that wasn't enough to discourage him.
Because they'd moved at all. He'd moved them. Himself. He could move around in whatever capacity now, just a little at a time, without needing to get someone else of the so-kind-and-so-wonderful bonebound to move bones out of the way for him, or carry him, or bring him what he'd been looking for, or.. anything else. A little pathway was still a pathway at all.
Smile on his blunt muzzle, which so often wore dour frowns, and brightening up all four of his red eyes, Scar dragged himself forward cheerfully, eager to explore--- anywhere that wasn't the very small radius he'd been occupying up to this point.
