The smell of burning fur reached Imperia's nose, and they grinned at the acrid smell. They had done this so often, they were used to the smell. Welcomed it, even. He was still thinking about the smell of burning fur and didn't notice when the leopard bit into their shoulder. He yowled and backed away a bit, but the damage had been done. Almost immediately, they felt a wave of nausea wash over them. He glared at the leopard.

"What did you do?" he scowled. He nearly vomited but managed to keep it down. "What did you do?" He swayed on his paws a bit. He could feel his paws losing a bit of feeling in them. He could still move them, albeit just barely.

Imperia was still determined to win this battle, however. He had to! He wouldn't let some nausea deter him. He crouched down and leaped, hoping that he would be able to injure her at least somewhat. Thankfully, while he could barely move his paws all that much, he could still move his legs, which should allow him to still be able to attack.

The smaller cat wasn’t happy when Fira’s bite landed in their shoulder. She quickly backed up again, tail lashing from side to side, still blocking the entrance into the den. She would guard her babies with her life. Hopefully, though, that wouldn’t be necessary. Gods, this cat was a menace, though! It wouldn’t give up! She noticed it sway on its paws and didn’t know whether to be grateful or sad when she realized the venom had worked. “It won’t kill you,” she said. “I don’t think…” And then they lunged at her, trying to scratch her again. She took the scratch, feeling their claws rake down her leg and hissed in pain. “Why won’t you give up?” she yowled at it, feeling very annoyed.

Being bigger than the other cat, she decided to try and use her weight against them. She flung a paw at the cat, trying to backhand it away from her and away from the den. “Go away!”

"It better not kill me!" he growled. "I have others to fight after you, things to destroy. Like that stupid den of yours." he cackled. His claws grazed against the ground as he continued to sway a bit. He was no longer swaying as much. Maybe the venom was starting to wear off.

"Give up? You want me to give up? I guess you don't know me all that well." He grinned. "I never give up." He watched as she flung a paw towards him, and swiftly duck down, effectively dodging the attack. "Nice try." He leaped again, intending to bite her this time. He was tired of always scratching; it was time for him to bite!

Fira was really getting tired of this cat’s mouth. And she was also getting tired of fighting. But she said nothing, instead focusing on the caracal. While it was busy yowling at her, she took the time to bunch her legs beneath her, ready for anything, tail once again curling around her back leg. After it was done mouthing off, it lunged at her, jaws open and fangs sharp. She instantly attempted to jump to the side, not really up for sustaining anymore wounds. Not right now. She was hoping she could then tackle the cat, pushing it farther away from the den and her children, but that would depend on whether her dodge actually panned out…

When Imperia leaped, he had intended to sink his fangs into his opponent. Unfortunately, such was not to be the case. She had managed to leap out of the way, causing Imperia to crash into the ground. With a growl, he got up and turned around, glaring at the leopard. He hated it when his opponent dodged, which usually resulted in him crashing into the ground. He crouched again and leaped once more. He was determined to bite her.

Yow! This time the caracal managed to bite her, stuck as she was on the ground and all. Fira felt the cat’s sharp fangs bite into her right front paw, but the bite didn’t feel too deep. Loathe as she was to go for their face, she wasn’t really in a position to be deciding where her next attack landed. She bunched her back legs up close to her body and then attempted to slam them into the cat’s face as hard as she could, both trying to hurt them and also get them away from her. Briefly, she wondered how long this damn fight would last, but she didn’t have much time to think about anything else other than protecting herself and her children.

Imperia felt a flash of satisfaction as finally he managed to sink his teeth into the other. It wasn't as deep as it could be, unfortunately, but he had still done it, and that was good enough for him. He could see her attempting to kick him, and he managed to duck out of the way just in time. With him in close proximity already, it was a prime opportunity for him to scratch her again.

Fira’s attempt to kick the little shit off of her didn’t go as she planned. The caracal ducked out of the way at the last second, and the leopard growled in frustration. She was half-way on her back with the cat on top of her, and there was nothing she could do about the claws that were quickly approaching her face. All she could do was close her eyes and grimace, and scream in pain as the claws went deep into her flesh. She felt them move downward, from her brow bone, across her eye, stopping at the beginning of her cheekbone.

Fira was very shaky, gritting her teeth so hard in pain that her jaw cracked. She opened her eyes slowly, the act of doing so causing her right eye immense pain. She realized she could barely see out of it, though whether that was through the blood running into it or because of eye damage was unknown to her. She was done for now. The fight had left her. A wound like this meant she might forever be impaired. Not that that would stop Fira. Nothing stopped Fira. But for the moment, she didn’t have the energy to continue this fight. In one final attack, she attempted to rake her claws across the cat’s face, as a sort of vengeful move. Maybe she could hurt the cat’s eye the way her eye had been hurt. Though, since she couldn’t see well, she’d be surprised if her attack landed where she wanted it to — or at all.

Imperia grinned as his claws tore into the flesh of the leopard, right at the eye. When he had made a long scratch he moved his paw away and stared down at the scratch, his eyes shining. He watched as she tried to attack him, but missed completely. Maybe the scratch had caused her to be partially blind. His grin only widened at that.

This battle was just about over, he knew that. But maybe he could attack her one more time...He lifted his paw again, claws out and ready. He wouldn't go after the eyes this time, maybe above...
