Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

The young foal listened intently, absorbing every little thing he said as if his words were numbers and her mind was an abacus trying to solve the equation of life ((<--give me my props for that simile)). What he was telling her sounded absolutely terrible! Gembounds that were trying to eat other gembounds? Why? Why was the world so complicated? Not that she knew how complicated everything was yet but from what Tuck was imparting onto her it all sounded terrible... "Ahkor... Iiiraa ahkor. Rik kaaa..." The words were fell on deaf ears but it was obvious from the dejected way that she said the words in the other language that it wasn't good.
Her "mentor" continued to speak about what to do if someone didn't want to be her friend. Tease them? She didn't want to do that! She wanted to do things to make people happy! "Ki'Eh! Saga no want make gembounds... riiiilleeeedd up. No good! Is... is bad! Saga want make gembounds happy! Want friends with all!" But if they didn't want to be her friends... Then... Then...
Her eyes began to water up again, upset at the thought of gembounds not liking her and her having to leave them alone. "No want leave alone! No want run away! No want be fighting! Want be friends!" The tears started to flow faster and her voice began to quiver with the beginnings of sobs. "Saga just-- just-- just want friiieennndss!" And there it was... The little filly plopped onto on her rump and began to cry with her head thrown back and her voice neighing sadly to the ceiling while the tears fell in rivulets to the floor.

Ugh, Gods! I swear, Tuck said in his mind as he glared at this stupid baby horse whose seemingly only job in life was to cry at everything. Tuck had learned early on that not everyone you meet wants to be your friend, and he hadn’t sobbed like this. Seriously, what was this horse’s problem? Quite frankly, Tuck was about ready to just leave her there to cry it out so he could continue exploring this new room without interruption. In the end, though, he decided he should at least calm her down somewhat. He tried to concentrate on his Magic, thinking of a Dormire Flower. He planned on trying to get Saga to eat it once it had formed in an attempt to get her to chill out.
What ended up sprouting out of the back of his right paw was a tiny little white sproutling of a flower, but by its faintly sweet smell, he could tell it was the right one. While Saga was still bawling her head off, Tuck thrust his tiny little arm towards her face and screeched above the din of her crying, “SHUT UP AND EAT THIS!” He was hoping he sounded commanding enough to get her to do it.
Disturbed from her broken-hearted sobbing by a --surprisingly-- loud shout from the tiny male, she looked down at him with tears still streaming from both of her pink eyes. The young filly focused, with some difficulty, on the tiny little flower that he was offering up to her. Being so young had its perks as she was distracted from her thoughts of terrible gembounds trying to eat her and not wanting to be her friend fairly easily. While her eyes were still watering she was not sobbing anymore, sniffling yes but not sobbing. Her head lowered to the primate's little arm while she snuffled at his art and the flower. It was a sweet-smelling thing that seemed to lull her into a relaxed state.
Not able to hold back anymore she gentle nibbled at the plant and finally ate the entire thing. It was as sweet as it smelled and once within her gut had a placating effect on her. Since it was only one tiny bulb the horse was not lulled into sleep but she was calmed down significantly. Her eyelids drooped and her lips seemed to hang loose as she found herself relaxing under the effects of the flower. "Flower is good." She finally managed to spout out. A lazy little smile eased its way across her maw as she grinned at her friend. "Thank-you, Ki'Eh!" The horse stood shakily on her hooves and tried to thrust her muzzle at the monkey in an attempt to give him a little "thank-you" nuzzle for the flower snack.

"Talking looks like this!" "Eekii eee!" Thinking looks like this...
Tuck sighed with relief when she began nibbling the flower, and when she plucked it off of him and ate the whole thing he sighed again. “Finally,” he muttered to himself. Man, taking care of this baby horse was the most annoying thing he’d ever done so far, probably. He’d consider the rat attack to be annoying if it hadn’t been so terrifying. The marmoset decided right then that he never wanted kids. He didn’t know how Origin babies were made yet, and not being from Earth, his later-formed sexual instincts could very well be non-existent, but still — he never wanted babies. Babies were a pain in the ass.
— Ohhhh no! She was leaning down towards him again. No no no no! He stuck out his tiny paws in front of her face to try and keep her from knocking him over, but that didn’t help at all. “Ahh!” he cried, as he tumbled backwards. She continued nuzzling him and he found that her nose tickled and began laughing uncontrollably. “Stooop!” he gasped between laughs. “S-stop, that tickles!”
Ignorant of his pleas she kept on nuzzling him, finding that the laughter he exhibited was much better than the yelling that he seemed so good at doing. "This is tiiiickle? Saga like to do the tickling!" She gave him a few more nudges with her nose before finally she was content to stop nuzzling at him and let him up. Her eyes were filled with mischievousness as she stared down at her little friend with wide rose eyes, a question brewing in them.
"Ki'Eh? You say... you say much ahkor but are eh out there too? Does Ki'Eh have eh? More eh than Saga?" She'd only just been born and only met one gembound so far but she was curious how many others there were in the world. If Tuck knew so much already he must have met many gems but he must also have met friends too.
Tuck was just starting to get genuinely annoyed by all this tickling when Saga finally stopped. He sat up quickly and scooted backwards a little to discourage the horse from doing that again. So much for teaching her personal boundaries. “No more tickling,” he scolded, though he tried not to raise his voice so that she wouldn’t start crying again. “Too much tickling makes it hard to breathe.” He felt like a parent. How can I possibly teach this Gembound anything? he asked himself. I’m barely older than her!
“Hmm?” He was brought back to the world by her next questions. It took him a few seconds to piece together what she was asking him, since she was half-speaking in that other language of hers. He blinked at her for a moment before it clicked, and then he gave an, “Oh. Right. Friends. Yeah, there are plenty of friendly Gembounds out there. In fact, most of the one’s I’ve met have been friendly, or neutral at least.” He paused, thinking. “Yeah, I guess I’ve made a few friends. Not many, but… I’m working on it!”
The little filly watched him expectantly, waiting for her "Ki'Eh" to finally piece together a response. When he did the little filly's brow furrowed as if she were trying to think about something and come to some sort of conclusion. Which, within moments, she finally seemed to reach. Her mouth broke out into a fresh grin and she bobbed her head enthusiastically after raising it from her friend. "Good good! Much good, kir! Tuck should make more friends! Always good friends, kir!" Then, she stopped her enthusiastic bobbing and seemed to prance excitedly in place. "Tuck show Saga friends? She can meet, kir? Tuck friends can be Saga's friends and make big happy.. happy... herd!" And that sounded fantastic!
A happy herd? Tuck sat back and thought about this. He’d never really had a family before, having always been alone, aside from when he came across others in his travels. Would he even like being part of a herd? He didn’t know the first thing about it. He felt like having others around him all the time would just annoy him. But… at the same time, they could also offer him protection, and possibly let him know about new spells. Hmm… “I dunno about the whole… herd thing,” he finally said, eyeing Saga warily in case she started crying again. “I mean… I’m sure I’d come to visit you and stuff, but I don’t know if I could live here with you all the time.”
The rejection hit Saga's ears heavily but she didn't let herself cry... yet. Instead she shook her head. "But herd is good! Much safe! Eyes all over to see!" Of course she meant gembounds watching each other's backs but she was young and didn't properly know how to enunciate that. Besides, the stuff about being in a herd seemed to be instinctual, a whisper in the back of her mind about living in a group where it was safer. "But Saga would be happy with Ki'Eh visiting." Whenever she did find herself a herd and so long as he did actually visit her.
“But I’m not like you,” Tuck argued with the girl. “I don’t live in a herd. At least… not a herd of horses. I’m a monkey. Besides, I already have a home, in Eridanus.” He puffed out his small chest. “And I don’t need anyone else to keep me safe. I can do that myself.” He relaxed a bit when she said that she’d be happy with him visiting. “Yeah, of course I’ll come visit! We’re friends, right?”
He reached out to pet her nose again, leaving his little hand in the air so that she could choose whether to come to him or not. “Listen, Saga, I gotta go, okay? I gotta go back home now. I’ll come see you again, I promise!” With a smile, he made sure his pack was all in order, and then he headed back towards the tunnel entrance, giving the horse a smile behind his shoulder as he went.
