QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
The corners of Riffi's beak turned up in a proud smile at Serendipity's praise. She was about to spill the seeds on how she foiled her attempt to steal that plant monkey's goodies and call her a "Snitch", but the subject changed before she could do so.
"Talion?" She replied, cocking her head the other way. She snickered at Serendipity's suggestion. " I kinda like Feathers better too, okay, your officially Feathers now!" Riffi announced, spreading her wings wide as if that action would make her word law of the land. With her wings still out stretched, she attempted bow as gracefully as her juvenile build would allow when the liogoose introduced her to the owl.
The rustling from behind her snapped her to attention, but as she hopped around, a huge rock-monster crashed through the wall of foliage. Riffi's heart almost jumped out of her chest when she saw this thing burst out of nowhere. She gave a loud squawk of terror as her crest spring up in surprise. Her prey instincts kicked in, spurring her abandon the other Gembounds and fly away to the safety of the canopy as fast as her wings could carry her, leaving a trail of feathers floating down to the golem. It wasn't until she landed on a branch that she released she had left the other's behind. It was not like their was much she could do in the way of physical combat, but she felt guilty for leaving them. She hopped back to the opening in the canopy and peered through. Too her horror, she saw the golem reaching towards Talion with its rocky grabbers. She also saw that Serendipity had thrown a rock at the horrible beast, but apparently that wasn't going to well for her. Riffi knew had to help, what could she do??

Talion's attempt to catch the other two Gembounds' attention by asking their names seemed to work just in time. The lithe, russet female had crouched down as if she were going to leap at the sapphire colored avian at any moment, and she seemed willing to by her blunt challenge. Thankfully, or so he thought at first, his introduction drew them into introducing themselves. If only they hadn't decided to rename him as well. The melanistic barn owl's large, inky pools narrowed into a scowl, and he couldn't help but open and close his wings with agitation. Why am I dubbed Feathers when the little one is also covered with them!? He wondered silently, his aggravation apparent as he flicked his midnight hued gaze back and forth between the two. The Gemling wanted to say something clever, and sharp, to show these two that he could but nothing was coming to him!
Just as the owl began to get embarrassed by his lack of response, and thus more angry, he heard a strange sound. It was unlike anything he had ever heard before, and yet, he innately knew that it meant something heavy was getting closer. The second that he saw Ser's expression change, Talion whipped his head about, and saw what was coming. It seemed to be a creature made entirely of rocks, or rather, rocks that were alive that kinda looked like a creature shape. He didn't really know, and he had no time to figure it out now, because the thing was reaching for him with its rocky appendage!
Spurred by fear, adrenaline, and the deeply rooted instinct to survive, Talion crouched down and then suddenly launched himself into the air. He beat his wings as fast as he could, trying to gain as much altitude as possible before the golem got too close. Thankfully, his reflexes seemed to be on point, and he easily swooped past the the rocky foe when it finally reached him. He spotted Riffi a little ways ahead, and quickly made his way over, landing beside her on the branch that she was on. It wasn't until he noticed that she was looking down, back where Ser was, that he even remembered the other Gembound was there. Talion watched as the mammal tried to throw rocks, but her aim wasn't as true as it had been before. She'd be in trouble soon.
As the small rocky creature reached for the bird it flew easily out of its reach. The arms of the creature reached stupidly into the air as if it were trying to grab him despite the bird obviously being out of reach. Then, a stone flew past it, completely missing but successfully catching its attention. The arms abruptly dropped from the air and all at once the creature lurched towards the stone-thrower. Its arms once again reached out, this time reaching towards the gal's stone. If she or the ones around her didn't do something soon she would be caught.

It seemed her rock-throwing skills had deteriorated over the few minutes that they'd been talking. It flew right past the golem but managed to get its attention from the owl. Her other friend was nowhere in sight, having taken off as soon as the golem had appeared. Serendipity couldn't get even bring herself to get mad at the tiny jay. What could she do anyway? Instead she yelled up, "Go get help!" She couldn't fly and probably had no real hope of escaping so fighting was her only option. If she didn't make it out well... someone had to tell her mom what happened.
The tiny liogoose gulped, real fear gripping her as the rock creature came closer and attempted to grab her. Easily she scuttled out of the way and found another rock to throw. She aimed it at the thing's head and hopefully she wouldn't miss this time.

Fascination and horror swirled in her eyes. "What is that thing?" She whispered to herself. Riffi found herself cringing as it almost scooped up Talion, but much to her relief, she saw that the owl had gracefully escaped. She hoped over on her branch to give Talion enough room to land and turned her attention to Serendipity. All her pitches seemed to be failing. Where did her throwing arm go? If she could hit a small bird in the rump from high up in the canopy, surely she could hit a big dumb rock monster right in front of her face. Riffi was convinced that she wasn't even trying, not that little rocks would do much to harm this thing any way. She turned her head to Talion and shook it with glare. "What's she doing?!"
The blue jay dug her claws into the wood. One hit from this thing and she was sure it could break every bone in her body. As much as she wanted to fly far away, she couldn't abandon Serendipity, not after she saved her in Cetus. Riffi didn't have to think too much on her actions when the liogoose yelled for them to go get help. Of course! They may not could take this thing on with brute force, but perhaps another Gembound can. Riffi was small enough to fly through the branches, maybe she could find someone faster. She looked the owl, he avoided that rock-beast pretty well, perhaps he could do it again. The little blue jay spread her wings. " Well, you heard her!" She told Talion. "I'm going to find help, you.. don't let Ser get crushed okay?" With that she lifted herself into the air and flung herself through the canopy.
Riffi dove under the canopy to get a better look at the world below, but no one was in sight. Even worse, there seemed to be nothing that she could use to help her allies. The blue flapped her wings faster and faster, as if distance would help her find something. Finally, she landed on a gnarled perch. Her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath. Riff looked behind her, she hoped that by the time she got help, it wouldn't be too late. She already felt like a failure right now, no need to pour salt into that wound.

Just like the tiny, vibrantly colored jay beside him, Talion watched with a mixture of curiosity and concern as the rocky being reached out toward Ser. Just before it tried to grab her, she called out to the pair to go get help. She didn't get the chance to elaborate on what kind of help she meant, or where they might find it, since she was forced to scuttle away from the thing's grasp. Thankfully, Riffi seemed to have an idea, since she immediately jumped up and spread her wings. Unfortunately, the smaller avian didn't speak very kindly to the owl, which distracted him by making him angry, and then she ended up ordering him around! He didn't get a chance to react, other than openly gape at her while she spoke, or say anything, because within seconds, she was flying off into the distance.
The entire thing made the young Gembound feel as if his head were spinning around and around. He watched Riffi disappear into the distance in a sort of shocked trance. However, the sound of another rock being thrown, and missing and clattering to the floor, made Talion snap back to reality. He had no idea how he was going to handle all of this, but he just had to. One look at Ser's wide eyes as the rock creature reached for her again was enough to spur him into action, even if he didn't know what that action was just yet.
Leaping off of the branch, Talion swooped back down to where Ser and the golem were faced off. Without thinking about it, just feeling like it was the right thing to do, the owl glided toward to what he assumed was its head. "Hey! Look at me you big, dumb rock...thing!" He shouted angrily, before beating his wings toward the golem and holding his position in the same spot in the air. Talion wanted to distract the thing from Ser, but he certainly didn't want to be clubbed from the air by one of those thick, rocky appendages. He'd never felt pain before, but the very thought, and mental image, of being struck sent a shiver of dread down the owl's spine. So, whenever he saw the thing turn its attention back to him, he tried rising out of reach as fast as possible. His charcoal speckled wings beat as hard and as fast as they possibly could, and probably ever had before.
The tiny auburn creature managed to escape being caught. If the rocky monster had a face to pout it probably would have at that point but it just kept going. Again it walked towards the retreating liogoose with outstretched arms... That is, until something began to hover about its head. It was less of the action and more of the closer source of magic that caused it to turn and lift its rocky arms into the air in an attempt to knock the owl to the ground. It began to flail those rocky appendages about in a primitive attempt to get Talion onto the ground and within its reach.

The tiny liogoose scuttered away after her stone, again, missed. At this point she was starting to feel frustrated that her feeble attempts to hurt the golem were falling flat. She couldn't tell now if Riffi had gone for help or not and she didn't have time to check, the only thing she could do was keep moving and hope that the golem wouldn't catch her.
Quickly she glanced over her shoulder when she saw Talion yelling at the golem. It appeared that he was trying to help her! Emboldened by his efforts she began to climb up a tree, hastily making her way to a limb as she tried to piece together a new plan. If she couldn't do anything by throwing rocks then she would have to try something else and fast too by the looks of those dangerously swinging arms!
She thought about throwing an acorn or a small limb at the creature but that wouldn't do much... No she needed something else. She'd heard her mother talking about the "Arcane" element before and now she attempted to do so. Focusing on her stone and on one of the golem's rocky feet she tried to make one of the pull out from underneath it and hopefully topple it over before it could do any real harm to Talion.
