Rift frowned. The sprout that he had grown was the same size as if he had cast emerge. He needed to try again. He focused again, letting the magic simmer within his gen before releasing it into the sapling. As he carefully touched the young plant with his paw, an incredibly warm feeling shot through his entire body. It was filled with life and magic and it brought him so much joy and energy. He knew that it would work this time.

He guided the sapling, let his magic and strength deep into the plant until it was raised high into the sky. He raised the roots and brought them around the little helming and enclosed them in a large, warm, and comfortable den. Light shone through various gaps in the roots, but the tree continued to stretch on. Rift widened his eyes as he realized how big the tree had become. It was well over he top of the rest of the trees.

As he released the magic, incredible exhaustion fell over him and he world began to spin. He laid down next to the pup and closed his eyes, instantly falling into a dreamless sleep.

Rai woke up with a freaking tree in her face. She squeaked and jumped back, only to thwak into her new friend who was obviously sleeping next to her. She started to trot around him at a reasonable pace, poking and jabbing at him to try and figure out what he was. She was only at the end of his tail when she heard his breathing change.

Words. "Speech."

Rift was napping peacefully, feeling his strength return with the rest. But then his peaceful unconsciousness was interrupted with jabs and sharp pokes at his body. His eyes slid open and he looked back at the wolf, who was now at the end of his tail. Annoyed, he swept his tail away. "What are you doing?"

notes: just to clarify, Rift grew the tree next to them and pulled the roots over their head, so they're essentially in a cave made of tree roots.

Rai looked at him, dumbfounded.
"Why, I'm examing you of course. To see if I can figure out what you are." She yipped, going back to his tail again. She started to concentrate on her new spell, knowing now that that was why she had choked.
She started to say some words that came to mind on what she could say to help her.
"Adurna Kodthr!" She said, raising her tail and attempting to use airdrink again.

Reighn got some water in her mouth, just enough to hydrate her.

Words. "Speech."

Rift frowned, his good ear twitching. "Examining me? Why on earth do you need to do that? You could have just asked me what I am?" He sighed as he moved his tail to curl around his paws. He had to remind himself that this pup was newly hatched. They didn't know courtesy or decency yet.

But hadn't Sebastian known more decency? Hadn't Rift fallen in love with him the instant he popped out of his shell? He had always been sweet, kind, and gentle. New hatching shouldn't be an excuse.

But he thought that he should at least give the wolf a chance to be a little nicer. "Anyways, I'm a cougar. A cat." He watched with surprise at the spell she was using. He wondered how she was doing it and if he could do it too. He opened his mouth to drink water, but nothing came. Instead, his belly grumbled with a strange feeling and he instinctively tore off some leaves from a hanging tree. Within a few moments, he had swallowed them. They were not unpleasant, but he certainly didn't enjoy them as much as food. Maybe that was the same thing she was doing but with plants? It was weird. She was weird. He was weird.

Reighn stared at him, thinking this over.
"Well....Now that I'm hydrated would you like to play?" She said, getting into the play posture that she instinctively knew.
And if I had asked it wouldn't have been as much fun!" she said, leaping for his tail.

Words."Speech."Magic Words Learned: "Adurna Datia" = Airdrink

Rift cocked his head at this sudden change in demeanor. "You're a very strange pup," he pointed out. However, the playful crouch was hard to resist. He felt a purr rising in his chest and his tail flicked out of the way when she lunged at it. He wiggled it around, daring her to give chase.

Reighn frowned but gave chase, chasing the 'cougar's tail and pouncing on it. She attempted to jump up and lick his chin as well.

Rift cringed a bit when the pup's claws sunk into his tail, but he quickly ripped it away, and wiggled it a little farther away for her to try and catch it. When she licked his chin, he was a little surprised that she was so affectionate already, but he appreciated it nonetheless and gave her a quick lick on the head back. A few green shoots sprouted playfully at his paws as he continued to play with the newborn wolf.

She smiled and then went after the tail again. Instead though she said her Airdrink spell, "Adurna Datia!" and then continued to chase the cougars tail happily.
