Now that she had cast a completely perfect copy of herself, she needed to try it again, just to make sure she could do it on command. However, this time, as she tried to cast it, the energy suddenly died away and retreated back to her gem. Strange. Hadn't she just been able to cast it? Well, sometimes, she guessed that failures just simply happened. She would have to accept the fact that she couldn't always be perfect. Although she loathed to admit it, she was starting to learn that this was true.

Reseda focused again, intensely, and willed for the copy, the perfect one, to appear in front of her. However, the one that flashed in front of her was no nearly as detailed, nor did it last for very long. It stood in front of her for a moment, hazing in and out of existence, before it was gone completely.

She didn't understand why she was having so much trouble with magic. She thought she was better then this and that she could be detailed. She would try one more time before moving onto something else. She was growing bored with trying this over and over again.

This time, her casting didn't work at all. Nothing appeared in front of her. Giving up for now, she turned away from the place she was practicing and decided to rest again. And this time she would actually rest instead of lie down for a few moments. Perhaps a nap was all she needed to feel better.

As she began to look for a little place to rest, she started to cool down the air. It went much better this time and the chill tickled naturally at her skin. The temperature stayed there this time and she curled up in a little dip and rested her chin on her claws.

Within a few moments, her consciousness drifted off as exhaustion took over.

Reseda woke up hours later completely refreshed. She was still full from her meal, but it had digested enough to give her proper energy. The rest had restored her mental ability and she was ready to practice magic once more.

However, there was one thing she wanted to try, a fleeting thought as she fell asleep. What if she forced all of her energy into one spell. Instead of focusing on a specific task, she just shoot her magicka forward, pure and simple. It would be a hefty task, as her magic usually liked to form itself before it left her, but this time she would have to force it to be pure energy.

She faced a rock wall that was far away from her, just in case, and focused. It took a few minutes to focus enough energy for this task. Her gems began to get hot, hotter then they ever had before until it almost began to burn her face. She gritted her teeth and held fast. She felt an incredible power build up inside her and kept letting it go until she could no longer contain it. It began to flood out of her body faster then she could ever have imagined, forming a layer of bright green energy harmlessly around her body. The energy burst forward down her line of sight, so bright that she had to look away. It made little noise besides a high pitched ring that lasted for a few seconds before the energy was cut off and the light died away.

Reseda looked back, feeling her stomach flipping from the experience. She cautiously stepped forward towards the place where the energy had touched. The rock had been darkened from the energy and, as she reached out a claw, was hot to the touch. She was a little disappointed that nothing had exploded or anything, but she wondered what would happen if she used this against a living creature. She would have to find one and test it out.

Reseda turned from the blackened rock and slid into the shadows. She might be able to escape notice of whatever creature she was hunting. She flicked her tongue, trying to pick up a scent. It didn't take long for an interesting smell to reach her tongue. It was another deer, cautiously stepping through the tunnel. Luck was on her side. A large animal like this would be a perfect test subject.

Reseda stood fast and took a deep breath, gathering the energy once again into her body through her gem. Heat pooled in her gem and she prepared to expell it out of her body. However, the energy suddenly began to build faster and faster and Reseda found herself losing control. With a deep rumble, it exploded from her body and she was sent flying backwards. She felt something horrible stab into her skin, like burning hot claws on every inch of her body. Her stomach flipped and, as she hit the wall, she felt bile rise in her throat. She fell to the ground and began to vomit horribly, her stomach squeezing everything out, as if she had eaten something horrible.

The deer was definitely gone by now and Reseda was left expelling every last bit of the meal she had the night before. When it was finally over, her stomach was empty and trembling along with her entire body. An unnatural chill was settling over her and she retched again as her whole body contracted. What was going on with her?

Was this what happened when that spell hit the living? Had it gone so wrong that it had backfired on herself? She coughed and shivered against the cold, deciding that she needed to do something about this, immediately.

Reseda's first instinct was to get back to her nest, as if safety lay there. With a groan, she began to crawl her way back, her entire body seeming out of control. She felt sore all over, weak and dizzy. As she was trying to make her way back, she almost stopped a few times to expel any bile left in her stomach, but she managed to hold it in. She finally stumbled back in her nest, coughing and groaning with pain.

She had never experienced this kind of weakness before. It was both interesting and annoying. And new. If she could be scared, she would have been terrified. But if it was her time to go, she would go. But what a stupid way to die.

Reseda was lying in her nest for a while, the pain not going away, but it wasn't getting worse either. That was probably a good sign that she wasn't going to die, at least. She took a deep breath to try and calm her raging heartbeat. Even if she wasn't scared, her body certainly was and it was fighting back.

She felt so restless and stupid right now. How had she been so stupid to do this to herself? Out of anger, she tried to threw her magic against the wall across from her, but it didn't activate. Probably a byproduct of being so sick. Frustration raged through her and she scraped the ground impatiently. She needed this sickness to go away.

She tried again, but still, no magic was coming. She tried to get to her feet, a synthetic anger boiling in her stomach. But it wasn't true anger and din't register as such. So she couldn't be bothered to try again. There wasn't any point. Instead, she merely retched some more, her stomach squeezing out whatever bile was left. She felt her throat getting more raw until she was starting to spit up blood. That wasn't good.

She lashed her tail and stumbled around, trying to get her bearings. She had to get out of this tunnel before she had anymore bad luck.
