Interesting. A fox thing, with big ears... Brown, tan, gold, tawny-- lots of color words that he didn't know. She had horns and eyes that were water-colored, which made him wonder if she had magic of water. Was that a coloration, a possibility even? He thought, though he had a hard time imagining more than the vague space that the creature took up.

Tal'at's wide mouth curved into a smile, wondering how to explain his special sense. It wasn't something he could show to another, and for that reason, he knew it would be complicated to explain. "Feel from afar. Hot and red. A pulse beats. Feeling like hearing, understand a shape. Dull red pulse. Sometimes is bright. Sense is weak. Is like muscle. I must practice... It tells me... Where life is. Red, breathing life." He wondered if that made sense, cocking his head to one side, his wing pawing at one of her ears.

He felt already like he understood so much more of the world just speaking to Giggle. Tal'at had to give it back, allow her to read a page he had found. The words about the sense of heartbeats. He was determined to share his information, to make it clear to the hyena. "Like understanding echo. Makes a shape... A distant grasp... Defines the heartbeat. Maybe like sight. Only one color. Know its calling; it is red." It was seeing, but yet it wasn't. There was no light and shadow, no other colors. It was just a blip of red on a radar sense, like a submarine.

Giggle listened intently to the bat's words as she turned to pad down the slope and away from the bone pit. She couldn't do much else, with the bat still attached to her face she was practically blind, so she may as well listen.

And that seemed to somehow be the gist of what he was driving at, although she had to admit, his words rather baffled her. Sounds, making a shape? Red sight? She pondered it as she picked her way down to the series of small, stagnant pools below by touch and by memory, but couldn't really make heads or tails of what he meant.

"You... have a sense that sees red, hearts beating, but it needs practice? You see only red? And--... You can hear shapes?"

She said this slowly, and thoughtfully.

Here, at the base of the slope, there was a small honeycomb of small divots filled with cave water around a round, flat area of dirt, the entirety of it wreathed with low-reaching ferns. There were fresher bones scattered around this, not in the ring but outside of it, these still hanging with shreds of flesh and reeking of carrion.

Giggle slowly lay down here, half-curling in her little open den half-hidden by the ferns.

"Hm. ...I sleep here. I'm going to sleep, now. I am tired, and I need the rest. You can stay with me, if you want."

I wonder if he even sleeps..?

She made no attempt to throw the bat off, or to move him, instead just laying her chin on the dirt and preparing to sleep. If Tal'at wanted to sleep on her face, she didn't care. He wasn't doing any harm, after all.

The bat did not reply to her thoughtful comments on his red sense, perhaps because he did not know how to better clarify. Perhaps one day he would now how to explain the strange, singular color input he received from his magical input. For now, he only had a vague idea of what he was capable of. The tiny mammal was only a child, after all. He sniffed, considering where she might be going now. He had had a long day, and it seemed for now their conversation had ended. As she laid down, she offered to let him stay-- an offer he certainly wouldn't refuse. She was warm, and he felt... safe... Around her.

"I will stay," Tal'at replied, wondering what the smell was, but not particularly bothered by it. It smelled like more of Giggle, like it was her home. Perhaps it would bother him if he knew it was the smell of death, but for now it certainly didn't. He just assumed it was more of her, her lovely, warm little den. The bat crawled up onto her back once she finally settled down, finding a giant fluffy scruff to make a nest in. With that, Tal'at was content to fall asleep.
