Comet held her breath as she watched the horse use his 'Telekinesis' to slowly and carefully, merge the two bubbles together. It was now a mega bubble! "Wow!" breathed Comet. It was actually huge. She felt the warmth of James's wing around her and a nuzzle to the head. It felt good, to be practicing with him. Comet returned the caress with a few licks on his nose.
She watched him keep the bubble together for a bit longer, and then it popped. Well that was one goal completed! Teamwork really did do incredible things. She wondered what more she could do with her magic. "Well, I have been practicing spells that would help me with survival. In case I got lost or anything like that." Comet was a bit thirsty now so she decided that it wouldn't be a bad idea to practice the spell.
It was easier than the last times, and she felt the water absorbed through her skin. It wasn't a very visible spell, but a useful one.

James hummed, "I have some spells like that. One that can make light, one that can form a shield. One that can heal small wounds."

He inhaled and tried to summon a shield, one of his most familiar spells. With a flicker of magic, a waver appeared in the air, weak as it shimmered and shook, before fizzling out. He shrugged and sighed, fluffing up his feathers to provide a bit of warmth for the two.

"Alas, my magic fails me," he sighed, "But never despair, Comet. Spells can be cast very quickly, so if a spell fails the first time, just try again."

James's spell sounded pretty cool to Comet. Especially the shield one. Luckily that happened to be the one that he chose to demonstrate. She watched the shield flicker into the air, but it seemed weak and fizzled out. She snuggled closer to the horse as he fluffed up his feathers to make them warmer.
James must be getting a bit tired. Comet listened to his advice, and felt a little tired. Perhaps after casting one or two more spells she would take a break. For now, she would try a new spell that she had recently learned, that helped keep her hydrated for longer than usual. Unfortunately, it didn't work. But no matter, it hadn't taken up too much energy. "One more practice, then I'm going to take a break."

James smiled and nodded, "Alright. Don't push yourself. I still have some energy left, but I assume from how long you've been practicing that you're getting tired."

He tried his spell again, eyes slightly narrowed in concentration.

Finally the shield formed, a medium size, enough to defend James against a majority of attacks. He smiled and poked it with his nose.

"You can touch it," he said, "It's quite solid."

Comet nodded, and watched James succeed in his shield spell. She was a bit apprehensive when he asked her to touch it. Sure, he himself had poked it with his nose, but she wondered how solid the actual thing was since it appeared out of nothingness. It wasn't like her other spells that she actually summoned the water she used. It actually came from somewhere. She also didn't want to risk breaking it.
Comet walked over and inspected the shield before giving it a little boop with her nose. It didn't fade. She gave it a little headbutt. It was certainly a hard shield, very good for defending attacks. She wondered if she could learn that spell, she didn't have any defensive spells that she knew of. "That's cool! I wonder if I could learn that." she knew that if the type of magic was not your own type, it was much more difficult to learn.
But for now, she was tired, so she decided to cast an easy spell before taking a break. It was quite useless actually, since she was literally surrounded by water right now, but practice was important.

James smiled gently, "Maybe! I learned it from someone named Pride. He's my mentor, and taught me a lot of what I know. Currently, he's the leader of the Seven, who reside in Orion. I'm a part of the Seven, and in return for being a member, I learned the 'Shield of the Seven', spell. Since they are protectors, it's very fitting."

He let the magic dropped and tried a different spell, one he hoped would take less effort and hopefully wow the younger Gembound. He focused on a rock on the ground and exhaled, pushing magic into it. Faintly, it began to glow a pale blue, much like the stone that replaced Comet's ear.

"When we're home," he said softly, "I wish to make you a necklace from one of these. I made one for Ari, long ago, and it will only go out if I pass away. So it's like holding a little piece of my magic, or myself. I hope that it can provide comfort if I'm ever gone again."

Comet listened to James's words. The Seven sounded like a really nice group, she wondered if it consisted of exactly seven members or if that was just the name. Either way, it sounded like a really nice group. She wondered if joining was possible for her.
She watched him drop the shield, and instead use his magic to make a stone glow blue, the very same blue that was the gemstone on her ear. Wow. she breathed. It looked so magnificent, it was almost like the stone really was a gem. She gave it a nudge with her nose. Not hot, but it shone. Not only a perfect ornament, but good for the dark.
Comet leaned against James. A necklace, made of glowing stones just like those. It sounded really pretty, and nice. She couldn't bear it if he went away, and something like that sounded really good. But there was something else. "Maybe-- could you make the feather on my ear glow?" Comet asked, it would be the perfect combination, the feather for Aristotle and the glow for James. But just as she said that, she felt a wave of sleepiness come over her. It had been a long day, and before she knew it, she had drifted off to sleep.

"Exit unless woken up"

James looked down at the pup and nodded softly, "Of course."

Gingerly, he maneuvered her sleepy form onto his back using a bit of magic before lifting himself up to face towards Orion. Gingerly, he took flight, keeping himself low and level, careful not to wake the pup.

"Sweet dreams, Comet," he said softly.

On silent wings he flew, glad he could carry his daughter without worry.
