Comet had arrived at Polaris, once again, but this time for a much different reason. She wanted to try out a new spell she had been learning. And it was not a water spell this time. It was... a sensing spell. Something like water sense, but it sensed magic. She wasn't sure where that would take her, but it would be awful cool.

She prepared herself for something like sensing water, but what she got was amazing. The magic was everywhere, but she followed one of the trails to a rock, or was it a chunk of ice? Either way, it appeared to have magic, so she picked it up in her mouth to keep.

That had been cool. Comet wondered if it were possible to find more rocks like that. The spell was quite useful for finding rocks. She should totally try finding more! Casting the spell again, she was hit by the astonishing sense of magic around her. It was much clearer this time, and she followed a stronger path of it to another rock. She added it to the stash in her mouth and continued.

Having already succeeded in the spell twice, she wondered if she would be lucky enough to do it again. After all, she hadn't practiced the spell too much, so it would take some luck for it to succeed again.

Comet tried it again, but nothing happened. Guess her luck had run out. But that was okay! She would keep trying to find more cool rocks.

Not disheartened in the bit by her fail, she decided to try again. Comet poured more energy into this one, and hoped that this time it would work. The magic sense kicked in, but things were more faint. She followed it to a stone, and picked it up. Not as cool looking as the others, but still cool.

Continuing her search for more cool rocks, Comet wandered around the area, this time near the deeper snow drifts. Her sense led her into a rather deep area, and she jumped head first into the snow. Being looser than expected, her whole body plunged into the snow and she dug downwards. Finally she saw the rock that was in the snow, and added it to the rest of the rocks in her mouth.

The first object Comet picked up was a rock indeed - a raw chunk of ice-blue hemimorphite no larger than her own paw. It contained Fledgling-level magic.

Nestled along the pup's path was a Master-level cabochon of banded blue chalcedony. It wasn't extremely large, either; just about the size of an eye.

A candy-like bit of emerald-green stuck out from Polaris's floor: a layered, sheet-like piece of lammerite with blue inclusions. It contained Fledgling-level magic.

Comet's digging yielded a greasy-looking, periwinkle point of lawsonite. Its facets were geometric and Fledgling-level magic resonated from within it.

Comet clambered out of the hole in the snow, and laid down in the snow. That had been hard, she wasn't going to dive into random snow piles like that again. Probably. She laid out the four rocks she had collected and took a good look at them.

The first one looked very similar to ice. Anyone could've mistaken it for something else, and she felt quite lucky she didn't eat it. The second stone was rather small, but it was really pretty. Comet wondered if it had replaced the eye of a gembound when the user of it had still been alive. The third was her favorite: it looked really tasty, like an plump grape. The forth was, well, weird. She didn't have any strong opinions on that one.

Despite having four stones, Comet still wanted more. Four was not enough if she wanted to give some of them away. So, the search continued. Her senses led her to another rock, and now she had so many rocks, she wasn't able to carry them all in her mouth. She dug a hole for them and dropped them in for safe keeping. She marked the spot too.

With her mouth emptied of stones, she was ready to find some more! This whole finding stones thing was really fun, and they were all different too! Her senses led her on a path and into... another snow drift. Darn, why did stones have to be buried so deep? She had learned her lesson earlier about diving into random piles of snow, but she was already here! She might as well retrieve it. Comet prepared herself to dive in again, but with a sweeping paw, she uncovered the stone. Oh, that was easy.

With the two stones in her mouth, Comet continued in a circle around the area where she had buried her other stones. It would not be wise to stray too far away from her buried stones, or else she might lose them. Her mind was already matching up the possibilities of which stone would be best for who.

Her mouth was getting full of stones again, she was starting to wonder how she would carry these all back home. But... she wanted just one more rock. One last one. This last spell cast made the sense come back to her stronger than ever. She followed the trail to a grouping of rocks, one of which was the stone. Comet picked it up with the rest of the rocks in her mouth, and returned back to her hole. She dropped them in and looked around to think of a way to transport them.
