Chaos-Two bolted forward after Labradorite, teeth bared in a grin. They lunged over fallen trees and raced after their litter mate, ears perked forward.

They lept over a log, their legs catching on the edge and sending them face-first into the ground. They crashed and tumbled, gasping in pain as some of their quills broke and went flying.

"... Ow," they hissed, laying on their side as their shoulder burned horribly, the muscle pulled.

It thumped through the forest, sending lessers scattering as it brushed against trees and hopped over fallen logs. Its hearing- not one of it's best senses by any means- strained for a second set of footsteps.

Instead it heard a loud crash.

It paused, and turned just in time to see Chaos-two on the ground, hissing in pain.

Looks like they'd be taking a break, for now.

It plodded over, still breathing hard from being chased, "You okay?" It asked, peering down at the hybrid with concern in it's six red eyes. By the looks of it, they were not okay. "...we should probably continue training later." It said, offering an awkwardly outstretched, slimy claw to help Chaos-two to their feet if it needed it.

Chaos-Two took the hand without hesitation, pulling themselves up and standing on their hind legs, moving to grip their shoulder. They rolled it, face contorted in discomfort, but they were okay, their shoulder sprained but not broken or dislocated.

"My own fault," they said, "My arm got caught on the log, I should have paid more attention."

They pulled out broken quills and dusted themselves off, sighing, "Thank you, I don't think we can practice properly, not until my arm's healed. Maybe we can... go fishing?"

They looked embarrassed, eyes averted and ears down. They were still getting used to their new depth perception and would probably never be able to fully recover. Their legs still stumbled on habit, too. And yet they'd come so far.

It stared down at Chaos-two, frowning slightly. Maybe they should've started with a more gentle game. Stuff like this was to be expected while they were still getting used to their new form. At least it doesn't seem too bad.


It'd make a thoughtful little hum at Chaos-two's words. "It was bound to happen." An attempt at comfort, but could likely be misconstrued as something else. It wasn't like their family was known for being particularly good with emotions.

"Fishing sounds good." It'd reply, peering through the trees in the direction of the river. It'd start forward, before remembering Chaos-two and pausing, looking over it's shoulder, waiting to see if they were ready to follow.

Chaos-Two grabbed their spear and winced at the words, trying to hide it as they turned away for a moment. They swallowed and held their injured arm close. They'd visit Doctor or... ugh, Kethri later.

"Let's go," they mumbled, moving forward to take the lead instead, tired of following behind like some lost child.

Their ears were pinned and they looked a little grumpy, though they didn't dare take their annoyance out on Labradorite. They wouldn't use their rage as a weapon.

It'd let Chaos-two take the lead- it knew the way to the river as well as Labradorite did. It'd follow beside, leaving a snail-trail of oily footsteps in it's wake.

It saw the way two's ears were pinned and frowned. Were they that upset about their mistake? Or.. was it something else? Something it had said? Labradorite didn't talk much, partially because they weren't very good at it.

The rest of the walk would be spent in (likely awkward) silence.
