The gemstone in question is a diamond shard from the giant Ice Worm of Hydra, granted as a reward for surviving. Proof of this reward can be found here (final paragraph).

Child Name: Shrike
Gender: Female
Species: Hybrid of Diseased Horse, Smilodon Populator (Sabertoothed Tiger), Nicobar Pigeon, Thorny Devil, Addax, Black Rhinoceros, Ice Worm.
Appearance: Around twenty feet long in total, generally noodle-shaped and lithe in build. Serpentine and pale, with thick pebbled skin and scutes along its tail, long Nicobar Pigeon feathering down the neck forming a mane of sorts, and Addax horns curling back from the head. The head is mostly cat-shaped, albeit with a pigeon's beak and ice worm's mandibles--and should it open its mouth, the razor lamprey mouth of one within. This creature is strictly carnivorous. Four limbs are tipped with clawed bird feet; the forelimbs double as functional wings. Soft fur covers its back and ribs. The entire animal is pale, and should it be wounded, it will bleed silver-blue like its Ice Worm parent. The only sign of any non-Ice Worm pigment is the Addax-like X-marking across its face, with darker greys shading to black outlining it. Small spines (from Thorny Devil parentage) and longer, thicker spikes (from the Ice Worm) both jut from and hide beneath the entirety of the feathered and soft-furred pelt, placed utterly haphazardly. The gemstone--Diamond--forms a sort of halo, just touching/merging with the sides of the horns, as if framed by them.
Element: Prokaryote
Stone: Diamond
