November's start sees an interesting, if spooky, development... the release of the cave
Andromeda! Jaymie's Winner's Choice, this cave was designed as a wholly alien domain thanks to having been locked off for centuries...
or more? Its spikes, pillars, and near-mountains of crystal hold an eternal glow, and its Lessers are wholly alien. Speaking of which... Remember our contest,
Who Are You? We LOVED these Lesser designs so much that we put them
all in. A number were altered to better fit the cave or Origin's lore, and each had a relevant magical effect randomly rolled for them! While everyone has already been paid for their
submissions, we promised that the winners (whoevers' Lesser designs were chosen) would be rewarded... and so you will! ...ALL submitters are winners, so without further ado, your rewards!
All players who submitted one or more Lesser Gembound designs for the Who Are You contest may choose their reward from one of the following:
- A Guaranteed Revive gemstone once belonging to a Lesser Gembound of Andromeda (any of the new submissions!) This must be found (on-screen or off) within Andromeda itself, and can be revived by any character. You don't need to post anywhere to claim this; just let a GM know!
or... for those suffering character bloat:
- 150 Magicka! Let us know in Magicka Market if this is your preference.
Sidenote: if you designed a Lesser, let us know whether or not you'd like to provide the colored artwork for them. If not, we'll recolor sketches ourselves, and start the process of getting art done for the art-less ones!
...But the Lessers and the crystals, and the mysterious coral lake, aren't the only strange things about this cave. An odd magic pervades it, and in late October and early November, it is as though this magic strengthens. Or perhaps something preventing it is weakened..? In any case, echoes of the long-dead can be found here at this time of year: ghostly visions of deceased Gembound characters, occasionally speaking briefly to repeat things they said in life. (This isn't intended to be used to uncover specific information; we suggest rolling to see what might be heard!)
In addition, in The Black Pit, these echoes can be more rarely found year-round. When visited in October/November, the Pit will grant an achievement claimable in Update Me:
Pilgrimage - "Visited the Echoes within Andromeda's Black Pit when the magic of the Echoes was strongest." This also applies to tagged characters who post in
[Event] Echoes of Andromeda! Speaking of achievements; those who posted in
[Event] Echoes will be granted a special achievement, as well:
Opening the Way - "Discovered Andromeda." This may be claimed after characters exit the thread!
