Red Ruffed Lemur Briar

#1
~The plant species of Origin as cataloged by Tennesse & Cayenne~

Rainbow Starleaf:
These tall trees with star-shaped yellow leaves have medium brown bark that is smooth to the touch. The bark can be peeled at the slightly softer bark underneath can be used to cure headaches. However, the train isn't know for the medicinal bark... It's known for its tendency to leave unsuspecting gems turned different colors! The pollen of these trees come in a wide variety of colors and if you accidentally sleep underneath it or sit still for too long you can find your fur completely turned colors! Don't worry, while the pollen is a little stubborn and clingy it can be easily washed out with water. Although it can be fun to harvest the pollen for a prank.

Watermelon Tree:
Okay... They don't actually grow watermelons but the green fruit hanging from the tree with its hard shell does resemble one. The fruit has a diameter of four inches and takes a little effort to crack open but is worth it. The yellow, juicy, and fleshy fruit is sweet and delicious. The trees themselves grow in hardy conditions and in places where other vegetation seems not likely to grow. The trees they grow from have pale brown bark that's rough to the tough with green, spade-shaped leaves.

Tamusen:
Small bushes with red leaves that grow deep within the forests of Eridanus. Despite the vivid red leaves these bushes are usually hard to find because they only grow to be a foot tall and have a habit in sheltering in the lee of larger plants... Usually dangerous ones. If you can find one and manage to collect the leaves they can be used to numb pain like no other thing.

Sacchiferous:
At first they seem unassuming, like a normal oak tree with vines hanging down and dark, dark leaves, but when one gets too close they can smell the powerful numbing scent that these trees waft. Two minutes of exposure to this scent can cause disorienting headaches, five minutes fatigue, and ten will cause fainting and if you faint beneath this tree then the roots will ensnare you and digest you for nutrients. The cloying odor it emits when you get within a five foot radius should be enough to deter most creatures... Unless you're attracted to that sort of smell or want the Tamusen that usually rest near these trees.

Iceberry Bush:
Small bushes with dark blue leaves and white bark. The berries that grow from these bushes are small but grow in great clusters like grapes. They are tart but with a slightly sweet after taste. However, it's not the berries that you should collect (unless you want a tasty treat) but the leaves. They have great medicinal properties and can be chewed and applied to wounds to help bring down inflammation and ward off infection or they can be eaten to bring down a fever.

Pucker Tree:
Very tall trees with large branching limbs that are littered with bright orange leaves. These tall trees grow fruits high up in their branches, these fruits are usually green in color but turn bright red when ripe and fall straight to the ground (be careful if you sleep underneath one!). Hardly anyone would want to eat the fruits from these trees as they are extremely sour! Just one bite will cause your lips to almost turn inside out! Still, the insects seem drawn to these trees and their fruits and it's quite easy to get a meal if you like bugs.

Magicka Flower:
These flowers are usually hard to find or rather hard to pin down as they look like a plain flower to the untrained eye. They have green stalks with a tightly wrapped bud that's a sickly green color. The only way you can see the flower's true colors are by casting a spell or when there's a strong presence of magicka nearby. When this happens the blossom opens up to reveal a gorgeous blue flower with iridescent petals. It's a beautiful sight and it will stay bloomed for a couple of hours after the magicka has dissipated but once the magic is gone and the time is up it'll tighten itself back into the tight bud until the next magick surge.

Dormire Flower:
A small flower with pretty white petals that gorw in the ground. These little beauties are excellent for calming the nerves and for use as a sedative. Even the sweet smell of these plants are enough to calm the nerves of lesser and even greater gembounds. Just don't eat too many of these sweet plants!

Honey Reed:
This water-loving plant is a tall reed with small blue flowers growing on it. It tends to grow around large bodies of water like rivers, streams, ponds, but never in swamps. When the reeds are eaten they help to soothe sore throats while the flowers... well... They taste very sweet but don't soothe anything except a sweet tooth.

Zebra Squash
The zebra squash is less of a squash and more like a pumpkin and is rounded in shape with grooves leading vertically up the sides. Its coloring is white with either grey or black vertical stripes, much like a zebra, and the skin is hard and difficult to break open, but less difficult to pierce and pull apart. The flesh inside is soft when ripe, and colored a beautiful yellow, with plenty of seeds in the very center connected by stringy flesh. The seeds are ovular in shape and white in color with a hard shell and a softer bead within that holds the beginnings of the gourd.

The plant itself is green in color with diamond-shaped leaves, the very edges frilled and slightly sharp, with small, needle-like hairs covering the leaves. If touched, they make any exposed skin itchy and irritable, a defense against grazing animals. The flowers of the plant have five triangular petals, colored a soft orange-yellow, with a brighter yellow interior where the nectar and pollen is stored.

The zebra squash is very nutritious and dries very well, and the seeds can also be eaten (but they aren't very tasty). The time it takes to grow is about 120 days.

Located mainly in Eridanus

Spiny Salvebush

This plant is green on the top of its thick fronds and purple on the bottom, and the fronds themselves are thick and easy to snap in half, revealing a clear, sweet-smelling flesh inside that has the consistency of watery Jello. The plant's flesh has a soothing property that cools down burns and accelerates the healing process and provides a relieving sensation like running cold water over the wound. The taste of it is like eating lavender, and the skin of the plant is very tough and difficult to chew through. To protect the plant, it is covered in dense spines along the edges, though these can be easily cut off and discarded, the leaves harvested for later usage.

Often found in Eridanus, growing in the hollows of trees or the bases of branches high off the ground. It is a parasitic plant that feeds off of the nutrients trees produce themselves.

Starleaf Weed

The starleaf plant is a silver, star-leafed plant (with a very original name) that grows nearly everywhere. It is very hardy and can be found growing even in the cracks of rocks. Despite the name and look of the plant, it is a weed and is one of the few plants that dares to grow around Hydra (but not inside, even it knows not to mess with that cave). Starleaves tend to grow three to five stalks at a time, each with 3 to 4 leaves branching out from the stalks. It flowers every week and then seeds for a single day before wilting and receding back into the earth for another week, before regrowing again and starting the cycle all over. The seeds themselves located in a small pod that the petals form on the last day, and it bursts open, the seeds exploding out and floating on the wind, also star-shaped. The leaves themselves are very nutritious.

A starfleaf plant takes a month to grow from a seedling and has a total lifespan of about six months before fading away and decomposing into the soil.

Sourgrass:
A stringy, short yellow grass capable of withstanding harsh conditions. It grows quickly and is tough to kill; even uprooted or sliced samples manage to survive. They tend to grow in clumps wherever possible: between cracks, on cliff and stalagmite edges, or even on rotting logs. It has a mildly sour taste when eaten --young sprouts are especially sour-- but is still a good source of nutrients. When burned, they produce a thick greenish smoke. Found primarily in Monoceros, Orion, and Canis, with small populations in Hydra's Dead Marsh.

Creepvine:
This tangling vine grows massive, lush green leaves atop a study stem. Healthy samples can grow especially large- a dog-sized gembound can stretch across a leaf and still not touch the edges. Creepvines can be found entangling stalagmites, large trees, or really anything large and tall. Every three cycles (which cycles differ from plant to plant) it blooms into massive, lily-shaped white flowers with a sweet smell. Smaller vines can be used like twine or bandages, and larger specimens as sturdy rope or even a building material. Found exclusively in Eridanus, though can be introduced elsewhere with mixed success.

Orion's Eyes:
This beautiful and dainty flower grows exclusively in Orion, where it huddles among ruined buildings and open fields. It has a short stem decorated with long, dark leaves, and specialized roots that dig deep into rock. Up to four spherical flowers shoot up year-round, covered in hundreds of tiny petals. These petals are bioluminescent, and glow the same pale light the "stars" do. Occasionally, a small dandelion-like seed is produced, which floats on the wind until it finds a suitable spot. The tufts have a distinctly sweet flavor but no nutritional value, acting in a similar way to candy. Found only in Orion-- will die in the conditions of any other cave.

Deer's Hair:
Despite the odd name, it may come as a surprise that Deer's Hair's not a "true" plant, but has similarities to seaweed instead. This algae grows in long columns of a soft brown material, with chocolate "hairs" branching off. They take root at the floor of large, still bodies of water, but can grow so large as to touch the surface. It's surprisingly nutritious (though with a bitter taste) for any aquatic herbivores and is typically surrounded by schools of feeding fish. Be careful, though-- large clusters of Deer's Hair can easily tangle up a careless swimmer, possibly drowning them if they can't free themselves. Found naturally in Pisces and Fornax, with an invasive population in Cetus.

Evil-Eyes:
Evil-eyes are very similar to deadly nightshade, with a few key differences. The plant itself is a reddish-purple color, with the undersides of the leaves a shiny silver, and the stems are lined with thorns. The berries are sweet and juicy, and smell sweet, too, enticing to any berry-eating animal. Once ingested, though... even one or two berries can spell your doom. First you'll feel dizzy and confused, before the seizures start, increasing in number over the course of about ten minutes. At the end of the ten minutes, the berry's neurotoxins will have reached the brain, and your heart will stop. Soon after, you'll be dead. It feeds off of the dead creatures that eat the berries, the seeds within being carried off by scavengers while it absorbs the nutrients the rotting corpse feeds into the soil where it's roots lay.

Deto-plant:
This plant is extremely dangerous. It is a small, grey plant with roots that can grow on the most hardiest of surfaces, even solid rock. It needs little to live and is completely inedible for one reason.

When exposed to heat, this plant explodes.

The plant, when alive, is a lush green with juicy roots, however when it dries out and the chemical compounds within it that were originally used to prevent being eaten come into contact with one another, all it needs is a bit of heat or a spark and boom. It explodes.

Grows literally everywhere, even Hydra.

Prism Grass:
A translucent grass that grows in little clusters in Gemini. Each part of the plant seems to imitate the crystalline structures of its home. The blades are stiff and tough. The flower petals are softer, flat, hexagonal, and refract the light. It has a cool, refreshing flavor when eaten, like mint, and can make you more alert: your vision will be sharper, the light brighter. Eating too much may result in headaches that are worsened by exposure to bright light.

Hex Berry

A juicy berry found in any cave with flora (Pegasus, Cetus, Ursa, Eridanus, any floral tunnel, it's a very adaptable plant) that changed color depending on the temperature of its surroundings. Red for hot, white for cold, and yellow for in the middle.

It tastes sweet but has a very curious effect. It causes rashes and indigestion for some gembound (not all, birds, lizard, and berry eating species avoid these affects) but can also cause mild paralysis. It's most commonly used as a sort of drug, as it comes with a pleasant 'high' feeling, though many not used to it often believed they've had a spell cast upon them, hence the name.

Potato

A tree found natively in Gemini, its bark appears glassy and deep. It has a deep, ebony color, though the lines in the bark are white. It is reminiscent of deep lake ice. Its leaves are diaphanous and thin, yet deceptively hard. They appear vaguely blue, pink, or white. When light catches on the leaves, they shine in elaborate rainbow patterns on the ground.

The roots of the tree are edible. They are soft to absorb nutrients from the ground, though the tips are hard as rock to break through crystal. They dont have much taste, however they are overloaded with minerals. The roots turn slimy and mushy when chewed. The tree occasionally drops a nut, which looks like a cherry encased in a pockmarked shell. It is, likewise, tasteless, but a good source of energy.

Pit Berries

Plant Type - Tree / large shrub
Leaves – round, dark green and waxy serrated edge leaves, look like if ginkos and lily pads had a hybrid.
Fruit / Flowers - Pale purple almost white meat of fruit, skin is dark purple, means you may stain yourself purple with the excessive juice that these have. Golfball sized black pit, that is either covered tightly by the slightly bitter skin, or the tart flesh is a good inch thick from the center, depending on how much water the plant gets. Can be dried easily if stripped from the pit. Flowers are half an inch in diameter and are pale cream and pink.
Edible Parts - Young bark can be grated down to a sort of bitter and tart spice, like citric acid tasting. Fruits are edible, if jaw achingly tart. Bark is a vivid green and quickly deepens to deep green over a year.

Sickroot

Plant Type - Bush
Leaves – Circular arrangement of leaves growing out of a central node, agave-like shape and sharpness on the edges, and inside are fibrous with very little water.
Fruit / Flowers – One flowering stalk in the first few days of spring in the caves, before fading, and the plant begins to grow it’s halo of leaves. No fruit produced, flowers seem to be there to draw in pollinators and Cave Squirrels to distribute last years sticky and powdery seeds.
Edible Parts – The roots are a system of fingerling potato size, internal texture, and shaped rhizomes, with the skin texture of ginger, colored (#F6BF9C) with (#D561D8) coloring on the edges and drier, older roots. To be consumable, they must be soaked, squeezed dry, and then fully dried – though some strains are sweeter and much less toxic (indicated by golden insides), and others are more bland (more white and starchy) and don’t bloom.

Iceleaf

Plant Type – Herb bundle, non-flowering.
Leaves – Pale blue center, magenta veining, and navy main leaf structure, shaped like icicles or stalagtites. Almost fern like in curling and major structure.
Fruit / Flowers – N/A
Edible Parts – Leaves can be dried, or chewed fresh, to cool the mouth and help with inflammation if applied as a poultice. Can also help with headaches, but over consumption comes with dry mouth and numbness, like chewing on snow for a long time would.

Cormint
Cormint is a peppermint-like plant named after the gembound who discovered it, Researcher Cortex of the Laboratory. It grows in tall, leafy stalks with small pink flowers bunched in the middle of three hand-shaped leaves. It has a silver stem and often grows in bunches with other plants, preferring the shade of its fellow herbs.

This plant has the unique property of relieving pain and relaxing muscles, and is often used to cure headaches or aches from over-exercise. It tastes like mint, hence the second part of the name, and the flowers have a sweet aroma.

These herbs are found in Pegasus, Orion, Canis, Leo, and Eridanus.

Azure Blueflower
Azure Blueflowers are one of two blueflower species known. This kind in particular has darker blue inner petals (of which there are 12 total, six on the outside and six on the inside) and has a long stem with minimal leaves except on the very base of the plant. The leaves spread out like a disc around several flower stems and the nectar attracts various insects like bumblebugs to feed on it and spread its pollen.

To counter its relative, this flower, when the roots are ground and steeped into a tea, cures nausea and vomiting.

These flowers are found mainly in Eridanus, though it is not uncommon to find them in neighboring caves and tunnels.

Sapphire Blueflower
This blueflower is the opposite of the Azure Blueflower, with darker blue petals on the outside and lighter on the inside, with 14 petals in total (eight on the outside and six on the inside). These flowers look incredibly similar to their relatives, though it is important not to mix them up because Sapphire Blueflowers induce nausea and vomiting when ingested.

This is good for expelling ingested poison for this works very quickly, but if the opposite effect is intended then it is important not to administer this flower because it might cause dehydration and stomach pain.

These flowers are found mainly in Eridanus, though it is not uncommon to find them in neighbouring caves and tunnels.

Dandyflower
Dandyflowers grow in clusters of up to eight individual plants, growing together and creating a net of root systems beneath the ground. Their leaves are very nutritious and delicious to eat, with a slightly sweet flavor. They vary in color from light blue to yellow to red, though their leaves are always green on top with pink beneath.

These flowers are found in Cepheus and Pegasus.

Green Roseleaf
Green Roseleafs are similar to cabbage and lettuce. They grow in massive bunches of leaves with a single rose-like flower in the center when they bloom. Their leaves are nutritious and delicious to eat, and vary in color, including green, red, purple, and even white.

These plants are found in Pegasus, Cetus, and Pisces.

Curly-leafed Rubyroot
These plants have silvery, curly leaves that loop around themselves multiple times. They bear juicy berries that are very delicious and safe to eat, and can be used to dye things red. The roots are as red as the berries and grow deep into the ground to prevent uprooting. As long as most of the roots are intact, these plants can grow back from nearly everything. The leaves taste horrible and are inedible.

These plants are found in Pegasus, Leo Cepheus, and the tunnels between.

Sugaroot
Sugaroots are as the name suggest. The plant itself is nothing special, with diamond-shaped leaves on the main bush. The roots, however, when cut open, produce a marshmallow-y substance that is sweet and succulent. When extracted it becomes a delicious treat that is packed with sweet flavor and sugars.

This plant is found in Eridanus, Pegasus, Cepheus, and Leo.

Dusty Chamomile
Dusty Chamomile is a small, daisy-like flower with grey-white petals and anxiety and stress relieving properties. It can cure headaches and other stress related ailments when boiled into a tea and drunk.

The leaves and flowers can be eaten, though the leaves are what hold the medicinal properties. In order to draw them out, however, they need to be steeped for a few minutes and then the tea ingested.

Found everywhere except Ursa, Hydra, Monoceros, and Gemini.

Silk Hair:
Silk hair is a plant that produces long, strong strands of a hair-like substance all tangled up together in a ball to protect its seeds within. Can be found in Cepheus, Pegasus, and Eridanus and can easily be woven or braided into fabrics meant for wear.
