Hello everyone and Happy New Year! We're almost half way through the first month, can you believe it? Now here's the thing, I'd love for you all to suggest events or traditions you'd like to see as events! Even if you aren't sure if a tradition could be made into an event on site, feel free to suggest it or suggest how to do it!

Here's what I want:
Code:
Event Name:
Event Month:
Event Description

Again, if you, for instance, used to play this crazy game called Dirty Santa every Christmas, you might write:

Event Name: Dirty Santa
Event Month: December
Event Description It's a game where everyone brings a secret present then people take turns taking the presents and unwrapping them until all the presents are taken. The twist is that each present can be stolen from someone else. I found some links here and here that might help. I don't know how we could do this in a forum, but we used to really love it.

Go it? Give me as many ideas IC and OOC as you can!

Event Name: Murder Mystery March
Event Month: March
Event Description A set of non-interactable clues is written by GMs about the mystery and are placed randomly in AW threads. The time-limited event thread is made with links to all the clues. Questions (alibis, lies, motives, crimes, etc) are asked about the mystery. Answers are collected when time is up, most correct wins.

Event Name: Scavenger September
Event Month: September
Event Description Easter Eggs (can be anything) are hidden on the forum throughout the month - find the most to win. The mechanics of the game are up to you, ex, maybe there is only one item to find each day/week. If it's your thing, add a twist with each item having a clue about the next item's location. Perhaps there is a theme. Perhaps participants should guess the meaning or theme of the items, etc. Add salt to taste. Typically this event is thrown for Easter but it's become an April cliche.

Event Name: Newsletter November
Event Month: November
Event Description Players take their threads and create titles and blurbs. Snippets are linked and arranged into a [your flavor of the even here: newsletter/social media/scrapbook/yearbook/etc]. Encourage brevity, wit, fun, and conciseness.

Event Name: Spring Showers
Event Month: April
Event Description Adjust tile as needed. Spring usually brings about natural disasters. Hurricanes, flooding, mud slides, etc. Adjust apocalypse cataclysms as needed. Basically a themed thread month.

Event Name: April Fools
Event Month: April
Event Description For the entire month, all characters are now [species: unicorns/nyan cats/laser sharks/photocopiers/etc].

Event Name: Familiar February
Event Month: February
Event Description Instead of the usual romance theme I thought it might be fun to do something more along the lines of soulmates and Dragons of Pern (DRoP) ; romance feels overdone and it hurts the lone-hearted. Event is complicated to explain, simple to play.

SETUPEach participant fills out a questionnaire about their chosen character with questions leading to what their character's soulmate would look like and staff carefully design a familiar for each participant (suggested: one character per person for the event). The goal is not fanservice or a wishlist but rather for staff to answer the question "What would the perfect companion made in heaven for this character be like", as if it were their soulmate. Familiars are meant to compliment the character, not to exponentiate their 'coolness'. It's the special touches here that make it fun and unique like a handmade gift. Familiars are immutable and final.

SETUPThrow in a bunch of dud/diversion eggs (perhaps they never hatch, perhaps they belong to no one, perhaps for late joiners, etc). Number each egg. For the rest of this step, staff can do all the work but it's fun for players and less work for staff to let players volunteer their ideas. For each number, design an egg image, an egg name, perhaps an egg description, and a set of responses to interacting with the egg - all sent to staff. (Add salt to taste). Responses typically revolve around emotions or images, but a generous dose of "nothing happens" is healthy. Responses can't include any clues (players don't know what's what anyways). For example, "You feel cold when you interact", "As you interact you get a sudden flash of the image of a pink flower and you feel excited but anxious about this." In other words, all actual details about the familiar itself remain a secret and are not revealed to players until after its hatching ; everything in this step is fun and postulation, basically decorating the shell without knowing what is inside. This customization and anticipation building step sets this apart from standard "chose a # get your prize" games.

INTERACTIONAll characters are invited to come and interact with all the eggs in rounds. For each round, a staffer makes a post with a response for each character and each egg they interact with from the responses for that # egg. Perhaps there are rules of one interaction per character per round.

FINALE Eggs hatch. Add your own twists here. Perhaps familiars are lethal and participating characters can die. Perhaps only characters who found their designated egg can keep it. Perhaps the interaction phase is a cold-warm-warmeeeer-HOT! game to find the egg. Perhaps the familiars only last a period of time. Perhaps the familiars die if familiar forge is not purchased (No Free Lunch!). Etc etc etc. Add twists to taste.

Event Name:Good ol' switcharoo
Event Month:Whatever
Event DescriptionOkay right, maybe because of some sort of disruption(due to the failure of a quest or something),a lot of gembounds are strangely affected. The result of this is that they are not like themselves, almost possessed? So how it works is, each user on the site has the ability to control another user's character during this time. And, for ultimate affect, it has to be their main. What user gets to control what user's character is absoutely random draw. At the beginning, the user can control the character slightly, but this all depends on a side quest that has to be solved, and quickly. Quickly because the longer it takes, the more control is allowed on the possessed characters, perhaps even to the point of causing major harm or making life-changing decisions. Perhaps, based on what the user does with the character, either misuse them or protect them, it changes the sort of 'ability' or 'achievement' they get. After the Quest is completed, the characters do not remember what they have done, as they are no longer possessed.

It would probably be better if it could be more implemented into the plot at the time that it occurs, but I don't quite know how that could be done.
Thx for listening. :')

Event Name: Trick or treat
Event Month: October
Event Description There are a bunch of random items to be found scattered throughout the cave(these can be anything; skulls, bones, statues, jewelry etc) and players can interact with them. Depending on their roll or just predetermined, the items can be tricks(like real or magical booby traps) or treats(random things, like small amounts of magicka, an achievement or an event spell). The items could he linked and at the end players could be involved in a larger puzzle- all the characters involved could get together to figure out who's causing this chaos based on the items and booby traps(like one of the NPCs could have gone on a pranking spree), or each thread could contain a clue leading them to one final surprise, all of which will need to be put together to figure out what's going to happen and where...

Maybe the last part would be too much, but I think it'd be really fun to have all the little pieces of the event go together into a larger quest. Either way though the trick or treat thingame would be cool too :o
