Hugin Liars see their own kind everywhere.
The raven would later not be able to pinpoint the moment he became aware of himself, although it was like waking up from a deep slumber instead of a gradual progress.
The first conscious thought that racked his small bird brain was 'Where is the other?'. He knew, without question, that he was not made to be alone. Hugin was his name &&he was one part of a whole, only one side of a coin.
Where was his other?
The raven pressed against the blue && violet hued chrysalis, stretching his back out from a slouch against the cold walls caging him.
Roll Attempt: Other - Break Free.
As if the chrysalis had a mind of its own, it ignored the tantrum the raven threw inside it && remained strong. Hugin wondered where his other was && if they could free themselves. He cursed the magic keeping them caged && swore to take revenge!

Munin Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
Munin was aware of many things. He was aware that there was most definitely something missing. and he was aware that he was trapped within a strange blue prison. He was aware of the warmth, the fact he was slouched against the blue walls of his confinement, that fact he had to get out, and of course - their name was Munin.
The fledgling had been awake for a while now; his eyes stared wide and unblinking forward. He felt somewhat numb within this strange place, his mind working lazily to pass the time. The only thing that knocked him out of an odd dream-like state was something like an electrical shock in the back of his mind that jolted him fully awake.
A soundless caw left his throat. The raven expanded both wings almost effortlessly, shattering the chrysalis around him like thin glass and out came tumbling the ebony bundle of wet feathers. There Munin lay for a few moments, catching his breath.
And then, he stood.
Thin legs wobbled under his own weight and he looked around. This place was arguably even stranger than the home he had just broken free from. There was an array of questions within his mind, words that he barely understood swirled in his mind. "Where..." was all they managed to croak out before they looked around once more.
He ruffled his feathers. They were surrounded by water, sitting on a small island. Was there even a way out? Were they stuck? Where was the other? They tried to speak once more, but this time all that came out was a weak croak that had built up in their throat.
"The wise speak only of what they know."

Hugin Liars see their own kind everywhere.
Patience was, as would show itself already, not a trait Hugin was to ever possess. Perhaps he could grow into it later, when he was older, but now, he was the impatience incarnate.
A ruckus next to him caused the raven to turn his head, but his onyx eyes emptily blinked into the blue-ish fluid encasing him, blocking any chance of a glimpse at his twin he might have gotten.
Yes, that was it.
A twin.
A twin was waiting for him. His other self, a part apart from him.
Hugin felt the huge urge to free himself && greet them, to reunite with this lost part of himself.
Or was he a part of them?
...
Did it matter at all?
No, definitely not. They were both merely shards from the same stone.
Roll Attempt: Break Free.
A crack! echoed through the outside world && the inside of Hugin's chrysalis as the blue-ish shell broke away, throwing the raven into the world. The creature tumbled out ungracefully before jumping onto his legs && shaking the slime off of himself && his ebony feathers - or the gray-ish baby feathers that would soon grow into fully black ones.
A turn of his head && hectic blinking of his eyes revealed another figure close by, a similar figure.
Hugin croaked at them, his head cocked curiously to the side. "Hugin." He introduced himself with one- two- flaps of his tiny wings, starring at his mirror-image.
"The wise speak only of what they know."

Munin Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
A great crack caused Munin to turn his head. He hadn't noticed it before, but there was another blue chrysalis so close to where his was. He watched, as his sibling tumbled forth from the shattered stone.
The raven stepped forth, one wobbling talon at a time. Hugin, he said. "Munin," replied the hatchling. He knew as soon as he saw the other gembound; this was his other half. The darkness behind the moon, the other side of the coin.
"Hugin," they repeated, the name rolling out of her beak smoothly. Although they were roughly the same size, Hunin found himself looking up at his twin, and the flaps of wings could have knocked him off his feet.
Munin gazed easily out across the water. "We are stuck," he said simply, approaching the water's edge.
He saw himself - his sibling's image. Identical were the thin features, the dark eyes, the stone centered on their chest. He thought only for a moment before turning around once more, gazing evenly at Hugin. "And we are on an island," he further explained before sealing silent.
"The wise speak only of what they know."

Hugin listened to the velvety voice of his sibling, taking in their sight && the sight of himself at the same time. The thought made his head spin && he shook it away once his sibling had turned to observe the dark waters caging them.
"Munin." The raven echoed, watching the small, feathered thing that was his sibling crouching near the waterline.
With determination glinting in his eyes, the stomped forward until he stood beside Munin.
"We are only stuck as long as we let ourselves be." He said, voice unwavering, confident && naturally sure of himself as he took his first steps into the dark, murky waters. His small legs only allowed him to take a few steps before he was half submerged in the water, which was when he turned around to face his sibling.
"Maybe we can find a way." Hugin explained, slowly testing the ground with his talons around him, to find a way to walk without drowning.
"The wise speak only of what they know."

Munin supposed they liked this answer, wading in after Hugin. He could barely reach his brother before he was up to his wings in freezing cold water - a dramatic change given that he had been inside a warm chrysalis mere minutes ago. He watched the water, and then Hugin. "Maybe," the soft-spoken child said.
And then he waded in further. The cold water crept over his back and then it stopped, and he found himself floating evenly on the surface of the water. Thin, dark grey legs kicked forth and he was propelled forward a mere few inches. "Hugin," he said. "Perhaps we can float across."
Munin was entirely unaware of his comical appearance now - bobbing up and down on the water as it rippled towards the surface, feathers damp and clinging to his tiny frame. He watched Hugin carefully, skinny talons kicking but the raven found himself not really getting anywhere - if anything, the waves were beginning to carry him back to the shoreline.
As the child remained in the water he continued to watch his twin carefully, thoughtful. He was fairly confident that this idea would work, even if it took a lot of effort to actually get anywhere - but for now he was silent, bobbing up and down methodically in the water.

Hugin watched contently as his sibling followed his lead, even offering a better idea on how they could leave their caging island behind.
"Perhaps." Hugin agreed, waddling further into the water && trying to mimic his sibling.
Roll Attempt: Other - Swim
Although it didn't come naturally to Hugin, like walking did ( as well as the itch in his wings telling him to spread them && beat against the wind, taking into the air ) but through watching Munin, he figured out what to do well enough.
He was slow, but at least his movements were steady enough to keep him afloat && close to his sibling.
If Hugin had cared enough, he might have entertained the thought later on how ridiculous they looked, swimming across that lake like lost ducklings - but he didn't && so he never looked back on it. Who even cares.
"A good idea, Munin." Hugin complimented as the shore crept closer while he beat his talons into the water. His young muscles ached, since the distance to cross was a bit more than just a cat's leap, but Hugin was stubborn enough to not even admit it to himself.
"Where do you propose we go?" The raven asked, turning to face the other black-feathered creature.
"The wise speak only of what they know."

The raven nodded slightly at his sibling before looking around. There were several isles littered around the water, places where they could rest. Munin wasn't so sure about Hugin, but his small legs were beginning to ache and cramp up already. "This way," he said, beginning to paddle.
His talons kicked hard into the water, and many times he found his head dipping under the surface but he came back every time - gasping for air but still going. From time to time did he glance back at Hugin, but after a solid minute and a half of paddling did the raven come onto land once more.
There was no vegetation on this isle and it was not very big - it was still quite a ways away from the actual shore that had a strange tunnel by it, but it was closer than where the ravens had hatched.
Munin shook himself dry, ruffling his feathers and turning around. "Hugin? Are you alright?" he called out gently, panting.

Although Munin ignored his inquiry, Hugin's eyes only held worry as they saw the obvious strain his sibling was under as his baby legs tried to keep his body afloat. Thus he forgave him easily for not answering as he resisted the urge to push his sibling forward with his wing as they swam.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me." Hugin said as they arrived on a smaller island, still some ways away from the real "land". Munin was exhausted, that much the other raven could see - his own legs ached, but his lungs && his muscles were strong && would grow stronger still.
He covered his sibling with a wing && held them close, letting them breathe && catch their breath. "What about you, Munin? Shall we take a break?" Worry laced the larger bird's voice, an expression upon his face that he would not wear often && rarely so in the presence of anyone that was not his other part.

Quietly, Munin slouched over onto his twin sibling. "A break," the raven said, somewhat spiteful but there was obvious defeat in his soft voice. "Yes, a break."
They huddled down onto the loose earth beneath them, ruffling their feathers quietly. They glanced at Hugin for a moment, half-expectantly as they waited for them to hunker down next to them. He was quiet only for a moment longer, breathing still heavy - sounding more like soft whistles as air ran through their beak.
"Over there," he said gently, guesturing with a needle-like beak towards the distant shore. "We should head there, where the land is largest."
He paused. He was yet to mention the empty feeling in his belly, something that the back of his mind had named 'hunger,' but he supposed now wasn't the time. Munin glanced up at his other half. "What do you think?" he asked.
"The wise speak only of what they know."
