A shattering echoed within the fog covered area. It was soon followed by a loud thud as the shards of a dark sugallite shot out and away from where they had once formed a perfect Chrysalis. The creature that had fallen and tumbled into the lush foliage below snorted loudly several times as dark onyx eyes quickly looked around. Long pointed ears twisted and swiveled around, listening intently for anything that he could hear. Where am I... The words seemed to echo within his mind. Had it not been for the strange sensation of knowing who that voice belonged to he would have been scared. Only for a moment however. A thick black mane shook as the equine ringed his neck for a moment, pressing his nose against the.

A disgusted snort escaped Erebus. Not at all pleased by the surroundings he had awoken in. A black tail flicked to the side as if in another form to show his discontent. He had been so comfortable and warm where he had previously been. But now he lay upon what he assumed was a wet soggy ground and could barely see anything that wasn't super close to his being. With a deep breath the newborn gembound attempted to rise to his hooves. His legs wobbled a good few seconds before he was finally standing steadily. He took this moment to look around even more, his nostrils flaring out as his ears continued to move.

This place sucked. It smelled bad and he was definitely not fond of his now damp coat. A hoof stamped against the ground, making a squishing noise, but Erebus quickly ignored it as he began to move. Within a few steps the colt suddenly lost his balance and went tumbling down to the ground once again with his limbs all in a tangle. An annoyed whinny escaped the colt as he just as quickly jumped to his feet, bucking his back legs up in a display of anger. Nostril's flaring and chest heaving, Erebus stood there glaring at his own legs. "Work!" He practically shouted to his legs all the while he stomped his front hooves against the ground as if it were his way of punishing his legs for causing him to trip.

When he was satisfied that his legs were going to cooperate with him Erebus snorted and turned his attention to his surroundings once more. Eyes narrowed as he could just barely spot the massive shape of something standing much darker against the never changing mist. Interest quickly peaked for the colt and he started to head towards it. It was large whatever it was so Erebus wanted to know what it was. For a moment he walked closer and closer, his heart starting to drum almost harshly against his chest. His dark onyx eyes were beginning to widen as a strange excitement filled him. Wham! Erebus face planted into the ground again. His hoof having slipped on a particularly slippery patch of moss and mud. An angry and very loud squeal came from the cold as he kicked his legs around in a tantrum before he attempted rolling around until he was right back on his hooves.

Roll post edit:

With a few loud snorts and a deep blowing sound coming from him Erebus just barely got back on his feet. Standing as firmly as he can as he once again went back to glaring at his legs. He didn't quite completely understand why they weren't working like how he wanted them too.

DIAMONDFANG
"queen of thieves"

Fang had moved quite far on her own, all the way from her place of birth to this mist-covered area. Still, with her tiny body it was rather difficult to move without being stepped on or hunted. It was a miracle that such a small creature had made it as far as she had but she was determined. That was probably the only thing that saved her, her determination.

When she made it to the thickly misted area she doggedly tried to keep her fear in check though this task was easier said than done. It was difficult to not start at every little sound in the undergrowth and when she thought she saw the flicker of a snake's tail she all but lost it. The mongoose sprinted forwards and straight into a bog though she was so light she didn't stick in the must. Unknown to her she springboarded of of a chrysalis to get a head start into the large tree with its strange gnarled roots.

Easily she made it to a low branch where she curled herself beneath her tail. With her tail over her body she felt safe... so safe that she accidentally fell asleep. It wasn't until the loud snorting of new life sounded that she woke with a start. Squinting down she attempted to see past the mist... but all she could see was a large shape. Carefully she made her way down the trunk to sit on one of the large roots nearest to the young creature with its strange gangly legs. Legs that it seemed hardly able to control.

Fang sniggered to herself as she watched the creature try and fail to stand several times. It wasn't until the young colt finally stopped and glared down at his legs did she finally offer some words to him, "You picked a bad spot to hatch, Purple." That was the most prominent feature to her. The strange leggy creature's stone sticking up over his nose. Coming closer she leaned out over the roots, clinging on with the claws on her rear legs while her lengthy body leaned out to give her a better look at the colt. He was having trouble because of the sticky bog. He wasn't light like her so it was harder for him to get out... How would she ever help him? Because helping him was the top priority. With his size and long legs no doubt he would be fast.... She could use fast.

Studying his legs then looking from him to a long vine on the tree a plan began to form in her mind. "Need help?"

Purple

It wasn't the voice that drew Erebus' attention, but rather the word that was used that drew Erebus to lift his ever glaring eyes up to the creature whom had spoken. His ears shot back and his eyes seemed to narrow even more. "I not Purple!" He hissed, stamping his hoof into the ground again "I Erebus!". How he knew the word was beyond his grasp of knowing, but it felt right and it would be so. He would call himself Erebus. As the smaller creature tried to offer it's help the young colt couldn't help but nicker in amusement to himself. How was this tiny little thing going to provide help to him?

Erebus snorted again. Pondering on his options. Part of him just wanted to get a good look at the tree that this smaller creature was now moving around on, but a bigger part wanted to know just how this little thing was going to try and assist him. "Sure, you help..." He humphed as he studied the thing. He could just barely catch the smell of it, but with the way she stretched out from the branch she had previously been perch on he took a moment to study the fur that covered her.

After a moment Erebus became restless and he took a couple steps forward only to quickly stop he felt the ever sliding of his hooves against the muddy ground. He gave another blow of air through his nostrils and glared down at the ground this time. Why was it all wet in the first place! It was definitely the most annoying thing outside of his improperly working legs since he had awoken.

OoC: Well that was a shitty post. Sorry. Next one will be better. Just having to rush right now.

Diamondfang nearly laughed at the creature's spirit. Even trapped in the mud as he was he found himself able to glare and yell that his name wasn't Purple. Which was good, someone named Purple would be so boring. While she was able to keep herself from laughing the grin she couldn't stop from spreading. "So sorry, Erebus but I didn't know your name. What was I supposed to call you?" The squelching noise when his hoof stamped into the ground was far less intimidating than what she was sure the colt was going for. In fact, it wasn't intimidating at all. It was just adorable that he was so angry and stuck. If she wanted to Fang could just hop up the tree and ignore him or just leave but she knew the value of the horse.

At his affirmative the little mongoose gave a nod and took off back up the way she had come. Quite quickly she disappeared up into the mist. One faint of heart might have thought that she'd abandoned the horse but if you listened closely you could hear the quiet sounds of gnawing. Then a few minutes later the mongoose reappeared with a long vine in her teeth. One end of the vine she took took a low hanging branch that was over a less swampy area of the divine. Using her tiny paws she managed to tie one end of the vine to the branch, she gave a few experimental tugs. Satisfied that it would hold she took the other end and threw it to the colt.

Unfortunately with her tiny self the vine end fell short and landed far away from colt. Fang gave a "tch" of a annoyance before climbing down the vine all the way to the swamp. The sticky stuff felt gross on her paws but she was easily able to maneuver over it because of her small size. Fang located the end of the vine and grabbed it in her teeth whereupon she walked it over to the horse. She rose onto her hind legs and offered the vine up to him with her paws. "Here, take this. I tied the other end to that branch over there so you can use this end to help pull yourself along. Just don't bite too hard or you might break it."

Erebus snorted a couple times during the mongoose's talking. Then the little thing disappeared up into the fog. He waited, almost anxiously, for the little thing to come back into view. His ears pricked up towards the trees as his onyx eyes searched the mist covered limbs. His legs shuffled beneath him as he quickly grew impatient. When the vine came slapping down against the ground a good few feet away from him Erebus stared at it before giving an incredulous look towards Fang.

Really...

Finally the vine was lifted to him and Erebus listened as Fang spoke again. His eyes followed the vine up until it disappeared into the fog. His eyes narrowed before he gave a hesitant look towards fang before finally leaning his head down to grip the vine with his teeth. With a gulp for even beginning to trust this tiny creature he held onto the vine only as strongly as he needed before he began pulling himself closer and closer to the tree. When he was finally pleased with the proximity he had with the tree, Erebus released the vine from his mouth and now took this time to look at it in thought.

It was large. So large Erebus couldn't even see where exactly it started to round about. It's limbs were spooky, but in a way seemed to be pretty awesome looking to the colt. "So...why are you here? Wake...up here too?" He questioned somberly as he turned his onyx eyes towards the mongoose once more. He murmured a quiet thanks to her for assisting him get to his destination

Fang waited until the colt took the vine in his mouth before running to safety on the twisted roots of the tree. "That's the ticket!" She yelled in encouragement to Erebus as he began to pull himself. The mongoose hadn't even been sure that her plan would really work but she was glad to see that it was. The horse, with the aid of the vine, was able to pull himself closer to the tree where she thought was less swampy ground. He seemed to find it easier to walk, anyway.

The mongoose's gaze followed the colt's to the tree. It really was a creepy thing. She knew it was only a tree but still. Her tiny head shook as she chased away thoughts of ghosts and ghouls haunting the creepy tree when no one was around. Those sorts of thoughts would get her nowhere with her company... at least not with this fellow around. She had to pretend to be brave for him. "Impressive, ain't it?" She remarked more to fill up the silent air rather than for the sake of conversation.

Her own silver eyes met the colt's darker ones when he questioned her. Pink flashed in her mouth as she opened it to answer him. "I was just explorin'. Came here to take a nap... Then I saw you an' decided to help!" His mumbled thanks was met with laughter as she waved her paw in a "don't mention it" sort of gesture. "I woke up far away from here. I just don't like stayin' in one spot. Stuff to do, people to see.... shinies to collect." She'd only seen shinies so far on the bodies of other gembounds and she couldn't take those but she was certain there was a way to collect others... She just had to find it!

"It is..." Erebus murmured in response to Fang's comment of the tree being impressive. It truly was and Erebus had every thought to try and walk around it to see just how far around it went. With the ground as wet and slippery as it was, however, would make that annoying and hard. A snort escaped Erebus as his ears flicked back before pushing towards Fang as she began to speak again. "Shinies?" He blinked curiously, wondering what the little mongoose could mean. He craned his neck around and looked towards the place he had woken from. He could still justb arely see the dark purple shars that were starting to sink further and further into the mud. They weren't really shiny covered in mud as they were.

Shaking it off Erebus turned his dark onyx eyes towards Fang again. "What are you called?" He questioned as he flicked his tail about. He tested his hooves on the ground he now stood on. It was still squishy as it was in the other spot, but at least not so much that he was slipping and sliding around. His pelt nearly shivered as the water and mud was finally starting to take its toll and sent small chills down to his very core. "Is there anywhere in this stupid place that doesn't have mud?" Fang had said she had been exploring around. So maybe she knew of a place he could go to get out of the mud and maybe find something that wasn't covered in water and the annoying slop he stood in.

The mongoose cast the young colt a sidelong glance to see if the word "shinies" had caught his attention. Just as she thought it would the equine couldn't help but flick his ears toward her in interest. That classic smirk of hers appeared on her face, exposing that one diamond fang. "Shinies. They're things like this. Very pretty. Very valuable." She raised one paw to point at the fang in her mouth before going on, "I've managed to ah-- borrow, a few shinies. I could show if ya if you'd like." She was sure that Aza'zel wouldn't be missing that bone and gem. He wasn't using them anyway, they were just sitting in his hill of bones rotting until he came along. Of course, she wasn't sure of the foal's view on stealing items so she'd wait to tell him that little bit later. Perhaps he would have a taste for the dangerous way of life.

Now, that former smirk was replaced with a more genuine grin. "Call me Fang, dear Erebus!" Diamondfang was her own personal name. Hers and hers alone. Only the most trusted would ever get that one and he wasn't exactly the most trusted yet. "And yes! There are plenty of places with no mud." He had the misfortune of being born in a swamp but she would take him somewhere more suited to his strange feet.

The mongoose prepared to lead the way but decided on something, if she lead them it would take a while but with those long legs of the horse they would get there twice as fast. So, after giving him a thoughtful look she said, "I hope you don't mind but I've just come up with a great idea to get us to my little hideout faster." With that she leaped towards the horse's withers in an attempt to get on his back.

Assuming he didn't throw a fit or try to back away or buck at her attempt to mount him with her miniscule weight the mongoose would run up and perch between his ears where she could easily tell him directions on where to go.

Erebus studied the the fang within the Mongoose's mouth. His ears flicked forward as he gave a tilt of his head as if to see it better. Alas, his attention on it didn't last long as Fang continued speaking, this time giving him a name she called herself. He nickered thoughtfully before looking around in wonder, curious to know if what Fang was saying of dryer land was around. He shifted his hooves, almost grimacing that he had sunk a little into the mud.

As Fang began to speak once more the young colt turned his attention right back to the female and gave a questioning look. His entire body froze when the mongoose leaped at him. It took everything he had not to give into sudden instincts that screamed for him to get the thing off of him. His muscles shivered beneath his soft coat, but soon enough Erebus settled down with a few snorts and constant shifting of his ears. It wasn't so bad now that he stood there for a moment to get used to it. Fang had moved up and perched herself between his ears and he could no longer see her.

"So...which way?" He inquired as he turned half way from the tree and looked away. He was rather eager to get out of this blasted place and far away from the mud. It would be hell to try and get out in the first place, but Erebus was determined to get out. And after he got out and visiting the place Fang had in mind, he would be finding some clean water to wash himself off and maybe even get a drink. Being in such a place made him thirsty, but instincts told him he'd better not attempt drinking such dark and nasty looking water.

Fang was pleased to find that she wasn't thrown off by an angry or fearful horse. She was even more pleased that with her new vantage point she could see much, much further! It was amazing! The corners of her mouth turned up in a true smile as she stood balanced on her rear legs, searching for the way out of Cetus. Everything looked different for up here but she was certain she saw the way to go. After she was certain of the way to go she lowered down so that her feet feet were helping her keep balance on the horse's poll. "That's the way, over there. Do you see where those rocks are pointing up from the ground over there? That's where we need to go to get out of this place, then once we hit the tunnel past there it should be an easy walk to Monoceros where I've stored my shinies." To think, she'd have such a strong escort to lead her back to her home station.
