Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
This place was where it all began; somewhere in this very room nestled shards of an opal chrysalis. She'd wanted to go on one last pilgrimage with her family, but it seemed that even that was destined never to end. Truly, she was to be destiny's one and only pawn. But not for much longer; for her pain was finally giving way to blissful silence. Dizziness was reigning over everything else although she lay still, on her belly.
She couldn't move anymore.
Her breaths were slow and rasping, her sides heaving with every desperate moment. she couldn't tell if there was anyone left nearby, but even her magic failed her. And yet, not a sob emerged. So long as the pain was dulling, she would accept the end with open arms. It was something that she'd been straining for for so long. She didn't know if she was alone here, or if her family was there by her side. And she couldn't even search for them.
Beautiful spikes towered from hollow eye sockets and a crest of spines on her head reared tall. It was too much, now. She could feel it penetrating too deep into her skull.
Her head throbbed with pain that was rapidly fading. it was all leaving... although she listened out, she couldn't hear anyone, or anything other than her own breaths, gently whistling. Her own heartbeat, its pulses growing steadily further apart, filled her ears, set to echo for all of eternity.
She didn't know if there was anyone else there, anyone to hear her last death rattle. But she knew that even if there was, she would never know. She could have cried here, but she didn't have it left in her. She would accept her defeat, at destiny's own hands, with open arms.
Her last thoughts would be of those she loved.
Of the joy that they had given her throughout her days, and the love that she had felt for so long. From the moment of her emergence to now, there had always been someone there. She thought of them now; those she could see, and those whose voices alone she felt resonating within her soul. White, Atsila, Fira... her own two children, Joy and Emendri... She wondered what they were doing now, and hoped that they would be happy even now. they'd known this day was coming. She wanted them to know that now the pain was going away. That she was happy to be moving onto a better world. She hoped that they would finally feel free, as well; the poor babies had never left her side since they were born.
Even though she might have been alone here, Destiny spoke; all she could do was hope that her last words would not go unheard and fade into the depths of eternity.
"Th... Thank you. Th-thank you for making this short life worth living. Th-this isn't the end. Whoever you are... Wherever you are... If you can hear these words... I love you."
Her voice was faint... as she spoke those last words, numbness enclosed around her dying form. There was nothing left to say. The blind platypus cradled the memories of her family close, holding them in her mind until that very last moment.
Her bill cracked open into a tiny smile, a final rush of warm air escaping it.
He had been distracted by the silence. It had been silent, so silent. It was nearly suffocating. He had been facing away from Destiny, not noticing the struggle she was going through at that time. And by the time he heard a voice, it was practically too late. He quickly turned, noticing Destiny. Immediately, he walked closer. "Mom? Mom!" He watched her, eyes wide, as she began to die. "Mom..," he breathed out, his voice a hushed whisper.
The silence was back, and this time it was worse. One of his moms was dead. He...wasn't sure how to feel about that. For all his life, she hadn't been that close, mainly due to her injuries from her gem. But she was still his mother! And he was going to miss her so, so much. Tears began to fall as he sat beside Destiny, head hung low. They were slow at first before they started to come down faster and faster. He ignored anyone who was around, be it his own family. Surely they'd feel the same way that he does.
Future noticed a familar body and scampered forward. She screeched at the sight and whimpered. Nothing. Future wailed and screamed because she knew when someone was dead. This feeling pierced through her like fire, hurting her viciously. She weeped and wheepee, realising she would never recover. 'Goodbye, Destiny...' she whispered, a tear slipping down her furry face.
