Reseda looked up at the giant structure towering before her. She thought she would feel something, but she didn't. That was okay, she didn't mind. There was rock before her and that's all it was: rock. With a purpose, most likely.

It didn't take long to find the opening of one of the structures. It looked dark inside. Well, everything was dark but this was extra dark. She didn't mind. The darkness was okay. When she walked inside, she smiled at the warmth. It was warm inside and her scales were cold. This would make a good den.

She turned out and scoured the area, eyes sharp for anything hat would make her den more comfortable. When she came back, her jaws were full of moss and bones. She lined the warmest section with the moss and dropped the bones into a small pile nearby.

Ever since her meeting with the dark one, the bones were interesting to her. They were once creatures that walked and talked and functioned. Now they were shards, white and brown shards. Reseda wondered if she would one day take her own shard. She looked forward to it, but for now these shards were hers.

She set herself down in the nest and pulled a bone close. It was a long one with lots of scratches and a few chips. But it looked sturdy and strong. She didn't really know what to do with it now, so she opened her both and chomped on he end. It was pretty okay, so she did it again, this time scratching her teeth. Her gums warmed and her mouth felt good so she continued to gnaw at the bone, the scratches and scraping quite loud. But she didn't really care.

When I speak.

Canis was a place that was home to bones as well as old memories. It was a familiar place, a place Septiezal wanted to be when lights no longer worked while he digested a feast of cave deer caught from Cetus. Despite the presence of Marrowbound, a comforting nostalgia lingered in the its dusty air. This was where he was born, and met Egahi, the only gembound he knew that crawled on her belly like he. They only met a hand full of times, but Septiezal still missed her greatly, and every now an then, he wondered what she up too, or if she was even still alive.

Septiezal slithered along the cold ground, sluggish from a full belly. He recognized the area by scent.

The Chambers.

This was were he spent most of his time hunting mice before he became big enough to eat rats.

Now it's many cave deer... This was also were he met Pharaoh. Septiezal shifted his thoughts away from the canine. It brought up memories he did not like.

As he approached the very crevice where he and the dog once played hide and seek, a peculiar scent caught his attention. The large serpent turned slowly, fallowing his flicking tongue. It was reptilian, like him, and though he recognized the scent, he did not know the individual.

The trail led him to a den that cradled some warm. His eyes strained in the dark, but whoever's heat he sensed was hidden the dark.

"Anyone home?"

Reseda looked up and stopped her gnawing, her eyes just barely making out the shape of a long figure appearing in the entrance to her little cave. She didn't know what it was - some long shape with no legs? She sniffed the air. It was like her, covered in scales and in possession of a flickering tongue. Interesting, she had never seen something that looked like her. But she had a feeling that it wouldn't be a mirror, as she was pretty sure she had legs and this thing did not.

Home? What was a home? This? Was this what the long one called a home? She didn't really care, this was merely a place to rest and sleep and gnaw on the bones. If the long one called it home, that was fine. She didn't care.

"What do you want?" she asked, her voice flat. There was no hostility in her voice, yet there was no warmth. It was not a threat, a challenge, nor an invitation inside. It was a simple question.

When I speak.

Septiezal frowned. He did not like the young lizard's response, but at least his curiosity was sated.

"Pardon me." He grumbled. "I didn't realize this hole was taken."

That was a lie of course, but if the gemling did not feel like talking then he wouldn't push her, though that didn't stop his mood from being soured. Septiezal pulled his head back and scanned the wall for any other crevices, preferably one big enough to squeeze his massive coils into.

He spotted one just above the little komodo's den and so he pressed himself against the wall and began to climb. It wasn't very far up, about a wolf's tail length away, still Septiezal found it rather difficult for his scales to grasp for grooves. He wasn't as young and small as he used to be. Eventually, the serpent drag himself into the low hanging den, though barely. Some of his coils hung over like he had been stuffed in there, though to him, it was relatively comfortable. His tail, however, flopped over the entrance to Reseda's crevice, the tip touching the dusty ground.

Reseda stared at the long one. It didn't seem to appreciate her. For whatever reason. She didn't understand why but she didn't really care why. She watched carefully as it bent itself back and slithered up and over the cave she was in. She was interested in the way its body moved, how the powerful muscles pushed it up without the use of arms or legs. She wondered what it would be like to move like that. It would probably feel strange.

But she'd be very strong, wouldn't she? Much stronger then she was now, at least. She could crush the bones beneath her feet. At this thought, she brought her foot slamming down on the bone. It cracked, but didn't break. She frowned. Too bad.

She watched the small bit of tail hanging over her cave. She stared at it for a bit before standing up and walking over, her tongue flicking. The long one smelled smoky. She didn't yet know the word for fire so she could not place it. She was curious and wanted to know.

She looked up at the long one, taking no notice of its strange, coiled form, and called up, "You are long and strong. How did you become so? And you smell like the dust in the bones, but darker and heavier. Tell me what that is." There was no malice in her voice, but a cold demand. She expected an answer.

When I speak.

There was a pause after Reseda spoke. Then serpent stirred and shifted its coils as it slid its head down from its roost to face her. That ssssmell is from fire, young one." Septiezal's ember eyes began to glow like kindled flames as heat permeated from his scales with a distinct hiss. He quelched it before it became uncomfortable, though the mild stench of burnt snake skin still hung in the air.

Septiezal then answered her other question. "I sssurvived." He simply replied. The serpent flicked his tongue, studying the lizard-creature. If she was truly from the same species as Ghanyarah, then she had some growing to do. There was a glint of wisdom in his eyes. "Keep your wits about you, child, then perhaps, you too can grow long and strong."

Reseda glared at the long one. She didn't like its answers. She needed the knowledge, the information now. She wasn't going to wait, she wasn't going to take half answers. And fire, she didn't know what that was. She hated that she did not know something that this thing did. Perhaps the heat was fire. No, it didn't seem so. She had felt heat before and that was heat, not fire. She shuffled her feet impatiently. "I don't know what fire is. Show me." She wanted to pair the smell with an image. She did not think that this thing was fire either. It looked similar to her and she was not fire. And she did not smell like that.

She didn't appreciate the thing acting like it knew better then her. She didn't appreciate it trying to seem like it was wiser, older, more experienced. She didn't like that. She watched the long one carefully, a small, almost inaudible growl rumbling in her throat.

When the python didn't respond, Reseda turned away from it, losing interest, and stepped back into her chamber. She picked up another bone and flopped onto her belly, crunching and munching away again.
