Calypso was an explorer with no alligence to Maji Walezi, no matter what the others of her mind thought. They could not trap her, could not contain her. She was a free bird, and she would disappear before they could clip her wings.
The wall of carvings she had encountered had lead her on a search. She didn't know what for until the green maw of moss stretched out before her. Whispered secrets came to her ears as she carved through the thick green with wings of black machettes. There was something here. She knew it when she swooped over the ponds, the twin ponds that resembed eyes as the Carving had depicted.
Her small, brillant red body flitted down to the ground by the western pond. So far her trip had lead her through once worn paths, paths that as far as she figured could hint to the many beasts depicted in the carving. It seemed the more she looked the more she could see. She took a drink, her eyes wandering the cave wall that pressed so closely the the ponds. According to the drawings, just south of the ponds had been many beasts... She would explore the trench and the center of the room later-- for now, it was a good time to figure out what secrets Eridanus had in store for her.
The pitohui bird hopped over to the wall and inspected it. Sure, there was the chance that the center of the room had more answers... But this had all started with a carving on a wall. Were there anymore, somewhere? She searched through the moss, hoping she hadn't brought herself to a dead end.
There was a lot of Eridanus to search, but this was so promising. The ponds! They had to be what those circles were. She would find the answers here, she would discover why someone had carved that scene into the wall. What it meant had to be important, surely...

Majesty was not in a happy mood today. He wasn’t really in any mood today. Since deciding he needed an attitude adjustment, he had sort of wandered into the I-don’t-feel-anything territory. Today, he had decided to go for a run for no particular reason at all. And because of that, he had almost run headlong into a pool of water. There he was, running along, not really paying any attention to anything around him (which he’d been doing – or not doing? for some time) and suddenly right in front of him was the reflection of the… ceiling? On the ground?
He skidded to a halt, extremely confused, and just in time, too, because he had almost run himself into the water. Finally, with a shake of his head, he realized he was looking at a pool. Curiously, he looked around the room, wondering where he was and how he had gotten here. And there was a little bird here too. Interesting. “Hello,” he called to it, not actually all that interested in a conversation. But manners mattered, he supposed. Besides, he was still the leader of THE Pack, and he had to keep up the nice face, for the sake of group relations. Not that he knew the bird was part of a group, but… Still.
He noticed the bird seemed interested in the pool. Out of politeness, he said in a monotone voice, “What are you looking at?”

In her search, she heard a noise. Something was rushing through the undergrowth towards her. Another creature! What if it was Makyna or the others coming to look for Bevy? Calypso wouldn't have that. She whirled to find a strange dog before her, slobbering and... and... Disinterested? The canine seemed to be talking to her for no reason other than to say something. He didn't seem to even want to be talking to her.
Her feathers fluffed out as she took a few flaps into the air and floated around the water, eyeing the wolf with curiosity.
"Just who are you?" She demanded shortly, her voice curt. What did this gembound want with her? She would at least be out of the reach above the pond, but... Hrm. Maybe he would help look. Turning her back on the wolf to look at the wall again, she decided she might as well explain.
"Have you seen the lichen covered carvings in the nearby tunnel?" She spoke softly, her voice just soft, lightly pronounced tweets. "In it, there are two circles just like the ponds here. I'm looking for clues, more hints of the creatures that must have lived here. If you see any pock-marks in the wall, tell me."
With that, the small bird went back to her search against the southern wall of the room.

Majesty kind of just wanted to lie down next to the water and be lazy. He was a little bit tired after his run. But then the bird asked him to help her/it/he-didn’t-know to help look for… things. He was sorely tempted to ignore her (he decided it was a her) completely. Why couldn’t she search on her own? Besides, she’d kind of been rude to him just now, turning her back and speaking so rudely. He snorted, raising an eyebrow at her back. But then something inside of him tamped down that attitude. His good side shone through just a little, little bit.
With a sigh, he lifted himself back to his paws and circled around the pool of water to get closer to this wall she was on about. He didn’t really see what was so special about it. And pock-marks? And what creatures that used to live here? Either this bird was crazy or he’d missed out on a lot. “So uh… do you know anything about the creatures who used to live here?” he asked her absentmindedly. He didn’t care all that much, but she was piquing his interest a little. Which was more than could be said had happened to him in the past few days.

In investigating the twin pools of water, the bird and the dog may find that there are no clues as to the meaning of the carved wall - however, there is something distinctly curious about these ponds. They are identical in size and shape, each holding a standing pool of clear, glistening water. They seem to be fed not by a direct stream, but by water trickling down from the surrounding rocks on all sides of the pools. It seems that moisture in the area coalesces in this part of the room, collecting as dew on the rocks and traveling quietly down their slick surfaces to feed the pools. There is a strange stillness in this area, a feeling that suggests that these ponds were preserved, revered even, by the last inhabitants of the cave.

Calypso didn't find anything as she searched, but she considered what the wolf had asked. She looked back at him, thinking it over. He seemed willing to help, if only grudgingly. The furball seemed tired from running around or something. Well, she would explain what she knew, even if it wasn't much. She peered into the water once more, her mind stirring with memories and ghosts just out of reach.
"I know of them, but not much. There's so many things that hint that there was a whole world before us. The golems, for example. They were around, just sleeping, when I was just a chick. There's the carving, the footprints and trails, and the metal pieces, the other beasts, the room of bones..." Water dripped into the pond, the stillness of the air suffocating. Not even a slight breeze came through here, a curiosity among the wild, bustling forest beyond. The rustling of leaves didn't even carry here. It was just her voice, filling the space, feeling so much louder and bigger than it should have been.
It was honestly a bit unnerving. "There are secrets here. I will find them. I will know them." She looked away from the wolf, narrowing her eyes. For a moment, she preened at her wing, and then met his gaze once more. Who was he? He hadn't said. He was just... There. It was frustrating that he hadn't answered her question or truly offered to help.
"My name is Calypso," she offered, finally.

“I’m Majesty,” the wolf said absent-mindedly, turning away from the wall to look back at the pools of water. There wasn’t anything on it to go off of, anyways. And when his back had turned on the pools, he’d gotten a tingly sensation up his spine that had made him curious about the pools of water all over again. He studied them some more. They seemed… odd. Interesting. He wondered where the water in them came from, considering there weren’t any waterfalls or streams in the room. Maybe the water came from underground, and these were actually cenotes? He padded quietly back over to them, looking between them curiously.
“Look at the pools,” he called to Calypso. “Don't they seem… strange to you? Where does the water in them come from? It’s got to come from some—
He stared. The water was coming from the walls, and the rocks. In fact, under his paws, he could feel moisture building. He lifted his right front paw and watched as beads of moisture beaded on the surface of the cave floor and then quickly slid into the pool. He stared. How was this happening? “Look!” he cried. “Watch the water on the rocks and the walls and the floor. It all just… comes up from nowhere, and then goes into one of the pools. How weird!” How was it doing that?

Ah, so the wolf did have a name. Calypso resisted the urge to roll Bevy's eyes right back at the canine-- they both were quite difficult creatures to deal with at the time, weren't they. She kept looking around and considering when Majesty spoke up again, this time with something possibly useful.
"Yes, the ponds," she chirped softly, approaching the edge carefully. She watched a trickle of water slip down the edge into the crystal clear pool. The water was certainly unique-- no other place had these two symmetrical spots of water. "But what does it mean? The creatures who were here before must have thought them important enough to mark on the carvings-- there was a line of creatures right by the ponds in the drawing."
She wished she somehow had a copy of the carving, but since she didn't she knew there wasn't much she could do about it for now. "Maybe the water holds some secrets itself. Why don't you go for a swim?" She inquired, lifting a wing and gesturing at the water. Bevy certainly couldn't swim-- her feathers would get soaked and then she couldn't fly.
The dog however, would be just fine in the water. If he just obeyed her suggestion all neatly. She wasn't going to be the one caught dead in the water, so to speak.

Majesty listened as he continued to stare intently at the water. Something about this was… odd… He just couldn’t figure out what. When Calypso suggested he go for a swim, he turned and raised an eyebrow at her. And what if something bad happened to him? He would be hurt and she would be all safe and dry up here on the bank of the pool. But still… he was curious. And the only way to really see if anything was special about the water itself was by swimming. He had to admit her idea was a good one, even if it put him in danger.
Sighing, he waded slowly into the water, a bit afraid of suddenly getting sucked to the bottom or something ridiculous like that. Surely there was really nothing here. So then why had he felt so tingly and odd about the pools just now? He supposed he was about to find out whether they were really important or not. With a huff, he waded further out until he could no longer feel the bottom, and then began to paddle slowly. He had never swum before, but it seemed easy enough, and he found that he rather liked it. He just hoped he was right about nothing bad happening beneath him…

Upon disturbing the crystal water of the pools, all noise in the room will suddenly fall silent. It seems as if all the wildlife in Eridanus has turned its eyes upon Majesty, watching him enter one of the pools. His body cast gentle ripples that would emanate out to the edges of the pool, but strangely enough, would dissipate before reaching its borders. There is a sudden, twitching darkness that may nag at the corner of the canine's mind. It is a sensation reminiscent to to television static. The strange feeling vanishes before it can leave any adverse effects on the wolf, and sound suddenly returns to the jungle room. Majesty is left with a feeling of having been judged - and accepted. Nothing else happens.
