Damask clearly takes after her avian ancestry, calling back to the very first birds of prey. Black and white feathers cover all but her entire body, patterned much like a modern osprey’s. She flies on a broad pair of wings, each equipped with three functional claws. For added power, lift, and balance, wide fronds of feathers furnish the catlike length of her tail, one at the base and another at the tip. Though this hybrid is clearly most at home in the air, agile legs and quick, taloned feet ensure that she can hold her own on solid ground as well. Only her muzzle is bare of feathers; one of very few holdovers from her mammalian antecedents, it tapers to a narrow point and conceals an arsenal of predatory teeth. Silver eyes peer unblinking from a keen, hawklike face as tufted ears rise, fall, and swivel at her temples, indicating acute sensitivity to sight and sound. She is fully carnivorous and prefers to feed on birds.
Damask is considerably smaller than her progenitors and will weigh no more than thirty pounds. Fully grown, she will stand twenty inches at the hip and measure seven feet long in total, with her tail comprising four of these. Her wings will span five feet from tip to tip.
Her stone is a flake of red jasper in the shape of a rough blade, about five inches long, situated between her lungs. It sometimes causes mild discomfort during strenuous activity.
