General Information

Abbreviation: CoR
Colors: Dark Green, Red-Brown
Location: Cetus

Overview

The Children of Rot are a player-run group of Gembound living in the swamps of Cetus. They remain mostly isolated and neutral, though they have shown themselves willing to fight for the survival of the caves' inhabitants as a whole. Their purpose and methods remain rather shrouded in secrecy, but they have not actively started any conflicts.

Purpose and Organization

The Children aim to uncover the purpose, if any, behind the existence of Origin Cave. They seek the secrets of its history, the goals of the Ancients that dwell in it, and the future the Cave may face. In so doing, they hope to find the keys to unlock assurance of their own survival.

The Children also provide information and food to the Ancient known as Aquarian, a hundred-yard-long reptilian or fishlike creature. In return, Aquarian has sworn his protection and guidance to the Children, though he is rarely called upon to actually provide it.

One of their tenets is to keep their search (and secrets) to themselves; the Ancients, aside from Aquarian, have unknown goals and these goals may, the Children believe, run counter to the survival of the Gembound within it.

The group is led by the alligator Dragon, and composed of his Maw (mouthpieces, who spread the word of the Children); Eyes (scouts and seekers); and Claw (soldiers and enforcers).

Group History

After Aquarian's emergence, Dragon began to gather those who primarily dwelt in Cetus and valued survival above all else. He also called upon those close to him, those he considered family and friends, and together they agreed to aim for survival through knowledge.

After several gatherings and searches for knowledge, there was a period of inactivity, after which the Children reformed with both old and new members.

Group Spell

Members of the Children of Rot have access to the Animal-type spell “Revitalizing Rot.” When this spell is cast, wounded flesh rapidly decays and rots away, to be replaced by swiftly-regrown tissue. This can be life-saving but is very painful, and can leave severe scar tissue. This spell, like all group-specific spells, is forgotten if the member leaves the group, as the spell is formed of their combined magic.
