Crack.
Crackcrackcrack.

The chrysalis shattered, leaving glittering opal shards in its wake. Scorch poked his head upwards, immensely curious about the world after a cycle spent inside a chrysalis. So far, he thought it was very beautiful. And he felt so energetic! It was great to finally be able to see what everything looked like. He swiveled his head back and forth, taking in everything with his huge yellow eyes. The rocks! They were colorful! And the plants glowed! He wanted to see those up close. Carefully, he wobbled over on disproportionately big talons, peering at the moss.

Not far from the newly born owl, walked a Cheetah cub.

It was fluffy, and chubby, as though well fed. But even still, it walked with a regality that did not belong to such a cute little beast.

Stubby legs stalked along the grass, and rounded ears twitched this way and that. It didn't take him long to overhear the shattering sound of a Crysalis, having heard the noise only a short time before when he, himself, had Hatched.

He shifted to walk towards the sound, nonplussed. Seeing the owl, he called out a calm "Hello, what are you doing?"

Upon hearing the cheetah speak, Scorch swiveled his head around to face the cub. "Come look!" he invited excitedly. "These plants glow! Isn't that amazing?" Oh, it was so exciting to meet someone new! Maybe they could be friends! Wouldn't that be nice? They could cuddle together - the cub looked very fluffy - and share all their food and look at all the amazing things here!

"Can we be friends? Oh, I'd love to be friends with you!" Scorch declared, his yellow eyes shining at the prospect. He turned his whole body to face the cheetah now, taking a few steps forward.

The owlet told Reign to come look, and so he did. The Cheetah strode forward, looking at the plants that seemed to amaze the little bird. It said that the plants glowed, and he nodded. "So they do." he had yet to see many plants that did glow, however, so he simply gave a non-committal "I suppose it is."

And then the bird asked him if they should be friends. Non-plussed, the cheetah tilted his head. Why would the bird want to be friends with someone it just met? But, something made him want to protect this little bird, and so he inclined his head. "If you wish. I am Reign, and you are?"

"Reign! That's a really nice name! I'm Scorch." he declared happily. And he wanted to be friends! Wasn't that totally amazing? "I'm so glad we can be friends," he said with a very serious expression. Then again, most of his expressions looked the same. Dark "eyebrows" in a v shape, huge yellow eyes... It was rather hard to smile with a beak. "Hug?" he offered, opening his wings.
@Reign

The little bird offered his name in return, and Reign inclined his head regally. "A pleasure, Scorch. Well met." The elegant words came to him easily, flowing from his mouth like water in an easy purr.

However, he had to admit he was rather taken aback when the owl asked for a hug. However, he didn't let it show, and instead, stepped forward. Sitting down before Scorch, he wrapped his forelegs around the owlet in his best attempt at a hug.

Ohmygosh he's so fluffy! Scorch wrapped his wings around Reign like the cheetah had with its forelegs, and buried his feathery head in Reign's shoulder. After a moment, he let go, eyes shining with excitement. "Whaddaya wanna do now?" he asked, hopping from foot to foot. He had a few ideas, but he wanted to hear the cheetah's ideas first!

@Reign

Reign huffed quietly when the owl curled into him, the owl pressing his head into the cheetah's shoulder. Affection curled in his stomach, and he knew instantly he would protect this owl, would never let it come to harm.

When the owl let him go, Reign took a few, carefully measured steps back. He eyed the owl, trying to figure it out. It was soft and fluffy, and didn't appear a threat at all. To him, it appeared to need protection, at least until it was grown enough to fight. Before he stepped away, he rubbed his cheek against the top of the bird's head, marking him with his scent, making sure that any who met him would know he was under the Prince's protection.

The title came to him easily, and he decided to take it. Yes, he was the Prince. The Prince Reign, of Origin. And he would treat Origin as a Prince should, protecting it from those who wished to threaten it and its denizens.

The owl asked what he wanted to do now, and Reign took a moment to think. "I would like to explore this cave, to find out what lives here. However, if there is something you would rather do, I can always do such another day."

The cheetah cub rubbed its fluffy cheek on Scorch's head. Having no sense of smell, Scorch assumed that it was just a display of affection, like a hug. "Exploring sounds like a great idea!" he hooted happily. "Where should we go first? Do you know about any interesting places?" He gazed at the cub eagerly, ready to follow him wherever he chose to go.

@Reign

The little owl seemed cheerful, saying that he would like to explore. Reign nodded, inclining his head at the bird, before raising his head to look around. Where should they go?

"Do you see that great big tower over there?" he nodded towards The Spire. "I would like to have a look at it, I've yet to see anything like it."
