I plan to finish this piece once they're adopted, but it's just poopy sketches for now!

Child Name: Up to Adopter!
Gender: Up to Adopter!
Species: Persian Leopard x Lammergeier x Alien

Insectoid, shark-like, and feline all at once, this hybrid is quite the oddity. Their silhouette is generally feline, save for the sycthe-like forearms - which they often knuckle-walk on - and the owl-esque hind legs. Oh, and don't forget the two sets of semi-feather and -leathery wings; they work in conjunction to keep them aloft and are surprisingly steady. Perhaps, the ridged tail helps with that. Full-grown, this hybrid stands about two feet tall at the shoulder, but has a tendency to crouch down to distribute their weight better. Thanks to hollow bones and general lightness (without the boon of agility) they weigh about fifty pounds at their healthiest.

While the majority of their hide is covered in short, fluffy fur or feathers, the skin is somewhat rubbery and elastic. It's electrically grounding, but not to the degree that its ancient parent's was. Getting shocked might still bring about a particularly... acrid stench. Pits line the snout, somewhat sensitive to electrical currents. Their preferred diet is bones and rocks, likely in conjunction with one another. They can consume meat, but it often does more harm than good - causing nausea and little nutritional gain. They're somewhat reliant on external heat sources and susceptible to extreme cold - but, maybe that's an attitude problem.

Their stone manifests in the form of sizable chunk of their skull, and sticks out as two rhinoceros-like horns.

In the interest of word count, let's not get into the markings. Just know that they're bioluminescent and shiny in those blue spots, including their eyes!

Element: Pressure
Stone: Oily
This conception was Successful! The litter will emerge July 29th.

Eythan will not be able to conceive again until October 29th.
It's... adoption time!

I'm not looking for much for this kiddo except for at least a bullet point list of personality traits, a sample of how you'd play them (based on the prompt in the form) and maybe some plans you might have! Feel free to give more, though <3

The only stipulations I have for this kid, really, are that I'd like them to have an active player willing to roleplay with family members and fellow Bonebound and that they aren't immediately removed from Canis. If IC events cause a split and have them going their own way, that's totally okay. It's also fine if they just like to explore the Caves and meet other Gembound, since I don't care to limit characters by their familial ties.

Click me for some help and ideas!
Names
The name is completely up to you, but they'd likely have the Vita surname tacked onto it. They generally have names with Hebrew origins (and they're usually anglicized - made more "English.") There's no rush to determine a name, though, and it won't really affect my decision! Disney, Baby Ballot, and Behind the Name have good options.

Personality
Aside from using random personality generators or retrofitting existing OCs to fit, there's a few external factors that might play into this character's personality:

  1. From the stone's description, which could be used deliberately or be entirely coincidental.
Its personality had a few in-built traits, seemingly to reinforce its intended behavior: it was calm, methodical, diligent and active, likely to move swiftly and attentively from task to task. Whatever this behavior was, it was its own reward: the creature was a hard worker, and gained contentment from being so.

  2. Eythan himself will present himself as a very warm, but Cut-To-Brass-Tacks father. He's super laid-back and easygoing, but definitely no pushover.

  3. Their uncle, Aure, is just a huge softie and a certified Love Elemental that will absolutely dote on them if allowed.

  4. Damask is a bit more reserved as far as family, but would provide opportunities for sibling interactions - and there's the possibility that Aure will place her on training duty as far as magic and getting ready for the world.

  5. Giggle isn't technically related to this child, but'll likely take on a grandmotherly role. She's wise and warm, and blunt enough to call them out on any hijinks. Not to say she's got a stick up her ass...

  6. There's other Vitas around the Caves (like Ashtoreth) or currently hibernating and... possibly being adopted out in the future. ;)

  7. They'll likely be encouraged to be at least a little bit cautious and wary of unfamiliar things, due to prior Bonebound experiences with Mother, Transcendence dog-monster trials, the Void, etc.!

  8. Their father was an electrical repairman, basically - you could... do something with that?

Feel free to reflect characteristics based on family members or come up with your own! I'm personally rooting for a wine snob, but for rocks and dirt.

More to come in this, probably?

Alias: This is you!
Name: It's okay if you have multiple!
Gender: I'm all out of this stuff.

Personality Summary: I'm not expecting big paragraphs or anything, so just give me the gist! Quality over quantity, babey...

Roleplay Sample: For this character, please! Write a little bit about them visiting Orion for the first time with Eythan. Feel free to powerplay him as needed!

Plans / Plot Hooks: Just... any ideas? Try not to plan too far ahead, but point out some cool potential that you can see!

I'll take applications until Wednesday, July 22nd @ 11:59 PM EST, so I have time to decide and so the player has a chance to set up the profile! I'd also like to be able to have time to finish that reference so you have a nice art piece to start out with :')

Anyone can apply, and everyone will have equal consideration. Even if you think you won't "win," just go for it anyways! I'm excited to see what y'all come up with aaa
Alias: Charlie!!
Name: Ana, Dagon, Gail! (Assume they carried on with the 'Vita' name :)))
Gender: Possibly genderneutral or genderfluid, with loose pronouns.

Personality Summary:
- Definitely quirky in the way that a relative would describe instead of outright saying, "Is your child okay?" as they eat dirt in the corner.
- Already weird from their diet of dirt and rocks, they, instead of shunning their oddities, embraced them and became a sort of... dirt connoisseur, often tasting it from different places to see which kind is their favorite.
- They prefer the company of those familiar to them, who already know and embrace their mannerisms and quirks.
- They are perfectly fine sitting down for a family meal rather than chasing friends off to go find something cool in Eridanus. There's nothing like mom's (or dad's) cooking. Or rather, digging up.
- In regards to the life/death question... they'd choose life. For while they think that their stone resting in the dirt would be cool, allowing another life to not only continue the Vita line but to (hopefully) uphold their love of dirt would also be amazing.
- Very goal-oriented and won't really settle until the said goal is achieved. Once it is, they'll move on to something else, always wanting to keep moving and doing something productive.

They're a bit scatterbrained and get distracted easily, as their priorities typically lie with food and affection, and are definitely not one to leap into action unless prodded. But when they are... well. Those scythes aren't just for digging up rocks.

Roleplay Sample:

(I'm going to use Ana as a name for now.)

Ana followed at their father's (as they'd been calling him since they'd majestically flopped out of their egg) tail, eyes watching it wave back and forth as he walked, tempted to jump out and nip at it, the cat-like urge to chase anything that moved coming to the forefront of their brain. They looked up rather suddenly at the other's sudden words, telling them that they'd arrived.

"Where are we going again?", they complained. Ana hoped there were rocks- well, of course, there'd be rocks. They were in a cave. They shook their head at themselves and trotted forward to keep up with their parent, puffing a bit as the other moved a bit faster.

"I've never seen you this... excited,", they said. Eager was probably the better word.

The cave opened up before them, and Iya looked around, frowning. It was... underwhelming if they were honest. Don't get them wrong, there were so many rocks to chew on and gnaw, to sharpen their scythes with, but Eythan's explanations promised a lot more than the purple-tinged landscape before them. The ruins were cool, they supposed.

"... I don't understand,", they said, "It's nothing like how you described. What stars-"

Then a clawed finger lifted their chin up.

Ana's eyes widened and their jaw dropped, their mystical orbs sparkling and reflecting the glowing gems above, so similar to stars that the gembound truly thought that it had to be what they were for a moment. They snapped their jaws closed and swallowed, tearing up a bit. They hid their face in embarrassment, ashamed at how easily their emotions arose at such a thing of beauty. But it was undeniable. They didn't believe that they were stars... more like little twinkles of hope.

"... I get it now,", they whispered.

Plans / Plot Hooks: Dirt connoisseur! Among other things. Possibly a healer at some point? Or Giggle's (rock) seer apprentice (that is, if they don't eat the seer material first...). Make love, not war! Eat dirt, not fight! Definitely a family person, though, and will be very willing to protect the Bonebound should the need arise.
Alias: Chishio
Name: Amos Vita, Miriam Vita, Ronen Vita
Gender: None :0 (or,,, possibly male)

For the personality imma just,,, toss one of the names in there
Personality Summary:
Amos is the kind of creature to get things done. Once they get themselves onto a task, they will complete it. Even if it means taking more time out of their day than they should to do it - this can cause some lasting relationships to be tested if the creature finds themselves focusing on something one doesn't like. However, Amos tries greatly to keep their relationships solid, and makes sure to visit those they are friends / family with whenever they can. They find themselves finding self worth when they finish their tasks, or start a new one. Though may become disheartened if something they want to do fails, or if they are unable to do that specific thing. Sometimes, Amos finds themselves with so many tasks that they are unsure which one to do, which can, on occasion, put them in a state of confusion in which they seek out other gembound to decide what to do for them, or ask for help from them. Amos generally has a calm exterior.

Not everything is flowers and butterflies with this baby, however. Amos also is fond of the chaos that comes with dangerous tasks, or projects. They find seeking out said chaos to be fun, and sometimes gets themselves into trouble on purpose if it means they find something interesting or complete a certain task. Amos can sometimes revert to stealing things from other gembounds, and finds doing such a thing to be incredibly amusing. Especially when the other gembound reacts with confusion. They also like poking things with their insect-like front appendages.

Roleplay Sample:
When Eythan asked if Amos wanted to go to Orion, of course they couldn't refuse! The creature loved exploring - more specifically seeing what could come from them exploring. Finding cool things, keeping cool things. Finding more and more cool things to do. Finding more gembounds, seeing what other kinds of creatures were there. Maybe they'd find someone that looked almost like them in some way! Though it didn't feel possible in their eyes.

As the other lead them forward, and into the place, Amos was absolutely amazed. The place was glowing. There were things on the top that shown in a glow and created light in the cave, revealing more secrets. Amos could totally find cool things here! There were so many places to explore! Oh oh oh! Strange rock structures! Amos distantly wondered what the rock would taste like.

"Pretty!!" The neon green creature called out, running forward to get a better look at things.

Plans / Plot Hooks:
I could see them getting in trouble a ton with their dangerous curiosity, and issues with stealing things :') maybe they make the wrong gembound mad, or they get into a fight or multiple fights in the future because of said things
(I'll be using the name Angel throughout the audition for the sake of consistency)

Alias: dove
Name: Ari-El Vita, Gabriel Vita, Uriel Vita, Angel Vita (can you tell i like my angel names?)
Gender: Probably somewhere along the masculine/neutral side of the spectrum.

Personality Summary:
- adores attention. give all the attention. so much attention.
- wants to see Everything and fly and dig and eat lots of dirt and does Not like rules
- very shy when outside of Canis bc the Bonebound tell him to be afraid of the unknown
- restless. wants to Do Something which leads to them getting in trouble & causing it, but extremely good at completing puzzles and loves to do simple, repetitive tasks for long periods of time
- if they end up getting a Job:tm:, they'll mellow out and will stop trying to eat electromagnets & shit
- likes to collect things, especially people
- insecure about being oily

Roleplay Sample: Flat-out, Angel hadn't wanted to leave Canis. There were plenty of bones and stones to munch on, and plenty of high places to stand on, and plenty of shards of old metal that he could make stick to things if he worked with them a certain way (even if he tended to get shocked). Eythan had ended up having to persuade them, and the temptation of rocks that glowed like they did was what finally convinced them. Angel always preened at the opportunity to show off their bioluminescence, and rocks that glowed promised to be tasty and exciting (and quietly, they might admit that their own black, oily mess of a stone made them jealous of the pretty rocks living and dead they could find in the caves).

The journey made their whole body ache. Long distances were never easy on their awkward bones, and their arm-scythes were not the best for balance, even with another gembound there to help. They'd flown some of the way before exhaustion set in, and Eythan had even tried to carry them for a while, but their bulk was just too much despite not having yet reached their adult size. So by the end of it, hollow bones and warped joints felt like they were in agony, and Angel wanted to lie down for hours. At least they had good pain management skills -- any amount of long distance walking tended to have this effect.

Finally, though, the pair pulled forward into the cave of Orion. Angel had been on the brink of flopping down and refusing to move when they saw -- stars? No, not stars. Stones, which were infinitely more interesting. Totally forgetting their own pain and exhaustion, Angel took flight awkwardly, wings struggling to support them in their fatigue as they soared towards the ceiling. Angel made a strained noise as they clung to the ceiling with scythes and talons, nosing at the shiny rocks and being careful not to scratch them. "Baba!" they called, voice somewhat shaky. "Look! They-- they look like me! Oh, Baba, they look just like me!" Angel cried, sounding somewhat like a wounded animal. He hadn't been expecting to have such an emotional reaction to seeing the ceiling.

Perhaps he was more insecure about his stone than he'd thought.

Plans / Plot Hooks: Angel needs a Job. Some kind of long-term task to keep them satisfied. If he fails to find one early in his life, he'll spiral into a sort of teenage rebellion against his father and the Bonebound. I imagine he'd end up leaving the group to travel and try to find his fortunes, but would eventually return like the Prodigal Son and be ready to take his oaths with a new understanding of himself and what he needed to do.

I also like the idea of Angel being extremely conflicted in terms of the oaths on whether he would want to pick Life or Death. He'd ultimately choose life, but I think he'd have to go through a lot of soul-searching first. The title would also vex him for a while, and he'd be unsure of what he would want to call himself and be called by the group.

Oh, also -- I imagine that the whole "hooks for arms" thing would lead to some... odd... formations of muscle and bone, especially when your bones are hollow. I think walking or standing (even hunched over) for extended periods of time can cause chronic pain, and that they have trouble holding a totally upright position for longer than a few minutes at a time. Pain is probably a regular part of their life, and I imagine that this makes the idea of venturing too far from the Bonebound all the more unpleasant.

Insecurity will also probably play a large part in his life :,)

oh my god also it is 3:06 am and i just had a THOUGHT what if they get a mutation slot and start making spider webs with their spit that probably makes no sense but like spider-man except the webbing comes from his mouth and he spins the webs with his knife hands and he hangs out in the SKY checkmate atheists yr bones can't hurt if you live in spider webs
Alias: Snail
Name: Lea Vita, Meir Vita, Neta Vita, Niv Vita
Gender: Genderless Cryptid

Personality Summary:
Collects knowledge of the past like a library full of dusty books, using spells like 'marrowsight' 'stone memory' and 'hindsight' to get the ancient memories they seek. They are curious, but in a quiet, slow way, looking quietly under old stones and around ancient bones. They don't seek any glory for their discoveries, they treat each ancient memory like a pretty, colorful pebble to keep hidden in a secret nook.

They also eat dirt. And bones. One would think this would contradict with their fondness of collecting memories from these objects, but it actually doesn't. They usually just collect the memories before actually eating. Of course, if their magic refuses to cooperate, they may just give up and eat the rock. This does make them somewhat upset, like they're missing out on something vital.

They are quiet, but warm and friendly most of the time. They have a strange, conflicting mindset of "actions speak louder than words" and "hehe but being loud fun" which can understandably be quite confusion to those unfamiliar to them. Simply put, they are quite LOUD, fond of screeching and chirping and making whatever sounds they can. Talking, on the other hand, is just boring. They try their best to pay attention when in a conversation, but their attention may slowly drift to a cool bug or rock.

Roleplay Sample:
Niv bounded down the tunnel in a series of flutter-hops, occasionally aided by a gust of wind. They looked around the tunnel eagerly, letting out frequent excited chirps and squeaks. They were getting tired, but Dad had told them they were getting close, which only made them even more excited. Orion was NEW, Which is the only thing which really mattered. New meant more things to learn about, which excited them immensely.

They nearly crashed into the Gryphon, too caught up in theorizing what could be in this new cave that they had stopped paying attention to where they were going. They landed heavily, stumbling forward and barely keeping themself from falling face-first. Having giant blade-hands didn't exactly make them the most agile on the ground, and it took them a moment or two to shake themself off and then continue forward like nothing had ever happened. They looked up to find that they had already arrived at their destination.

Their first thought? Ooooooo shiny!

Their tiredness forgotten, at least for now, they ran forward into the cave with an exited little screech. "Dada!! Shiny! Loooook! Shiny!" They squealed, bouncing around and tapping their scythe-claws against the ground. They wanted to look at all the pretty rocks! And the big weird crumbly rock-things, and all the glowy things on the ceiling! Unable to decide what to do first, they looked up at their father for guidance.

Plans / Plot Hooks:
Just a litol cryptid,,, They definitely love their family, though they may develop odd ways of showing this. I see them taking great interest in Giggle and the bone pit. They might have some promise of becoming a seer (They promise not to eat any of the seer materials, even if they are tempted..)

Otherwise, I see them becoming a historian of sorts? Writing things down if they figure out how, otherwise just learning as much about history as possible.
Alias: Lizz!
Name: Aviva (feminine) / Aviv (masculine) / Avino (neuter) Vita, or Avi for simplicity
Gender: Questioning/Genderfluid-- sexually androgynous, will likely try out different gender identities as they grow.

Personality Summary: Avi is essentially a benevolent "mad scientist". Excitable and a little spontaneous, this gembound has an innate yearning to learn about the world and it's functions. Every day is full of experimentation and projects, most of which end up failing, but they don't seem to mind. They find bones, decomposition, and basically everything related to death quite interesting-- especially the fossils of Canis. Their mind's full of questions-- what causes gembounds to die? Is there any way to stall the decomposition process? What can you learn from bones? Spells like Marrowsight would be of high importance to them, but they wouldn't just use magic; context clues, from broken bones to gem placement to location, would be something they value highly as well. This is their main occupation, and may sometimes feel annoyed if they're interrupted during the middle of study. Of course, they aren't cruel by any means, and wouldn't kill a lesser (or greater) just to sate their curiosity.

Because of this odd... hobby, Avi views death with an odd curiosity. It isn't sad to them, no no, but a moment of great scientific interest! They'd likely hold this view for their entire life, lest a close one were to die.

They're bad at social cues, and sometimes can be blunt or harsh without meaning to, but it all comes from a good heart. They love their family greatly and wouldn't trade them for the world. And while they may not be strong or fierce, if one of them were in danger, they'd gladly defend them.

Roleplay Sample:
Aviva didn't find this interesting. At all.

Her father had to practically tear her away from her bones in order to bring her... someplace. Where? She didn't know. It was a surprise, apparently. And while she loved her dad very much, this was just. So. Boring! She'd rarely left Canis before, and this new tunnel was, well, bland. No bones, no cool stalagmites, just barren stone and this uncomfortable, chilling mist. When she walked, dew stuck to her fur and collected on the floor beneath her, making walking with her mismatched limbs a challenge. The alien considered flying, but she still hadn't gotten the gist of it and the roof was far too low for a first time. Looks like today was going to be one of those days.

A pebble skittered away, kicked by one of her oversized scythes. Aviva sighed. "Daddy, when do we get there?" her voice was an odd mixture of kitten mewling, bird chirping and an alien rumble. The gryphon, padding along ahead of her, responded. "In a little, sweetie." So far, "little" seemed to be quite long, but she wasn't one to complain outright: she just kept her eyes on the floor and wistfully thought about all the bones she could've been sniffing.

So deep was Avi in thought, she almost missed the twinkling glow ahead. Her horned head raised, curiously, four eyes straining to see what was ahead. Was that quartz... on the ceiling? She'd only seen it in small clusters here and there. But oh, it was everywhere! And it even seemed to glow just like her! Not as interesting as a fresh skeleton, but still amazing. Completely forgetting her boredom, she skipped forward through the cave opening and into the light.

A gentle blue light shone onto her, casting her brown coat a pale silver. Monolithic ruins towered before her. A gentle breeze graced her feathers, bringing tiny flower petals with it. Aviva turned full circle, slowly, admiring the magnificent landscape with an awe she'd rarely felt before. Her father stood by the entrance, watching her with a soft smile, and she scampered to him excitedly.

"This is so cool! So, so cool!" Avi chirruped, nuzzling her father in gratitude. "Let's go! I wanna explore with you!"

Plans / Plot Hooks: Paleontologist lad! Will be devoted to Canis and her family, though they'd spend a good chunk of their time just staring at bones and eating rocks. If they were to get good at this skill, they'd might even start chronicling the lives of various notable corpses like a very morbid historian. Would definitely be attached to Giggle and find her work interesting (bone buddies!), might try out becoming a seer. Leaving Canis long-term would absolutely destroy her, not only because of her family but because they'd hate being separated from their passion project. It's unlikely they'd ever leave the Bonebound, though I could see some interesting potential if someone with a grudge against the Vitas were to kidnap them or force them to leave.
After a lot of deliberation (because holy shit, these apps were great and I loved all of your takes on our rock-loving fiend,) I'm going to have to give them to Lizz!

I can't wait to see Avi on July 29th <3
